BEST FAST BOWLER
by Ruchin Bose on May 04, 2007 08:46 AM

I would rank him the No. 1 Fast Bowler of world so far. and what a way he got retired !! Our Indians could have played for next 3-4 years more , if would have been in the form Glen had.
Best wishes to Glen for his future.

ADIOS ...TO A GREAT BOWLER
by Mat on May 04, 2007 08:13 AM

I hated watching him running in to bowl to our greats all these years. Now that he has retired,I can think clearly without bias ,and all I can say is that he is the best of fast bowlers of his generation. Also learning about his difficult up coming ,the stiff compeition he faced being the front line bowler of his team in his initial years and his personnel losses whilst at the peak of his career should speak volumes of his mental strength.
Not surprised that he doesnt have any regrets; he has achieved everything that one could ask for as a fast bowler ,including beating the two greatbatsmen of your generation hands down on most occasions.
Good bye.Cricketers with sense will miss seeing you bowl.

Life easy for Sachin now
by Ashish Jain on May 03, 2007 11:06 PM  | Hide replies

After the retirement of McGrath, life will become little easier for our master blaster if he finds the form again.

McGrath has been one of the most successful bowler against master blaster.

All the best Sachin. Cheers!

Sachin is not afraid of chuckers!

Whenever Tait will get Sachin out, fan of master blaster will have an excuse that Tait chucks, so no damage to masters glory!

You can see soon..... now lot of experienced bowlers are going to retire with this world cup, so Masters career will bloom again for 1 or 2 years atleast to make life tough for young-unexperienced bowlers ;)

10dulkar baba ki jai ho!

A tiger gets no pleasure eating lamb's meat. We cannot play bowlers like Dilhara Fernando. Indian batsmen are like chicken and lambs in front of the Aussies.

who is master? Sachin??? Joke of the year. PPL would like to classify your message as abuse. Once Sachin was master , now he is utter waster.
He cant even bat Fernando... Pls dont disrepect McGrath. Sachin never played him comfortably.

Best seam bowler seen on the international arena
by satish a on May 03, 2007 09:55 PM

Its always been a treat to watch him bowl the seam in an upright position. It just lands on the seam and flies off...I wish he coaches the canadian team.

The aussie PM's tribute as being the ornament of Australian Cricket is fitting to the character shown by the PIEGON all these years

Dear Salil, McGrath retired after his team 2007 world cup, Sachin will retire after India win 2011 world cup ;)

We should also give chance to Tendulkar to retire in a grand fashion like McGrath ;)

Difference between Tendulkar and McGrath: Tendulkar transforms minnows into good teams whereas McGrath transforms great teams to minnows.

You are exactly correct SaiSubramanyam :)

1 more difference:

McGrath will take wickets even if he bowls 2nd spell(for the sake of WIN). Sachin will score only if he bats opening(for the sake of HIM).

hes a gr8, if not..
by veerapuram murali dharan on May 03, 2007 04:17 PM  | Hide replies

hes definitely a gr8...but cannot be bracketed greatest because of his attitude towards top calss batsmen like lara and sachin wen ever they play him quite easily..he often sledges them and dats y, lara and sachu doesnt get out to him that easily...a greatest bowler is one hoo always gets the greatest batsmen out, not by the number of wickets...

Timing
by Paul Rufus on May 03, 2007 03:38 PM

Yes, no doubt he is one of the greatest if not the greatest bowler who graced the cricketing feild. Its been a priveledge to watch him in action.
Looking at Mcgrath, he retired when he is in his prime form and when we look at our players right from the start, you will find hardly any cricketer bowed out gracefully ( gavasker was one that comes to mind ). Why is that we lack the timing and why now the same persons are talking about the current players retirement plans ( though I agree most of our current players should retire).
Money is ofcourse is one thing but didn't they earned enough

Train
by AJ on May 03, 2007 02:04 PM  | Hide replies

He can be referred to as a train.

Same speed, same route, etc

He knows his limitations and he bowls within himself. He does not have any variation nor he tries for that, but as rightly indicated in the article, plays on the batsman's mind by bowling in the good length areas.

Terrific bowler, great temperament, wonderful accuracy, sarcastic in sledging.

cricket will miss one of the greatest bowlers it has ever produced.

Hats off to him.

Bye Pigeon. fly now into your personal world
