M.Kaif dropped because Dravid did not get a call-back from Katrina Kaif; ayk ka badla doosre se.
M.Kaif - on a serious note dude you are a good inconsistent player. Build it up to 80% consistency and I am sure you will outshine Katrina in popularity.
You have a competition now in terms of popularity :-)
Life is big, your time will come.

Reasons for Ouster
by Manisankar PanditNagalingam on Mar 15, 2007 06:51 AM  | Hide replies

Hi Mr. Kaif....u know well the reason. Don't try to pretend. The board and people want u to be in the team not just because of fielding only. U have been given umteenth chances still u could become only an ordinary bloke rather than an outstanding one...U no need to cry out in media and let ur bat talk than ur mouth...

Kaif should ask the same question with his performance
by Ramakrishna Panicker on Mar 14, 2007 10:05 AM

Mr.Kaif, your performance itself is the answer for your demands. Kindly do repeatedly practice for a bright return to the Indian team. Be a player of the time by hardwork, and not be a total player.

Rajesh POWAR iz better Opener than SEHWAG
by T bakshi on Mar 13, 2007 02:18 PM

I FEEL powar should have given a chance to open indian inning in WC. he is having good built than sehwaag..and better Bowling too...Powar can easily takes fast bowling on his body if not BAT..as SEHWAG iz unable to Hit the bowl by BAT and BODY..Most of the time he bowled out.

Kaif demands reasons
by Govind Raj on Mar 11, 2007 11:27 PM  | Hide replies

Mohammed Kaif was a good ODI player and a brilliant fielder with a tendency to drop sitters and catch unbelievable ones. But his out-fielding has been always fabulous.

Where he has failed is with his scoring rate. Over the years, since his Glory of Natwest Finals; he has lost some focus. And sometimes has played extremely selfserving knocks in ODIs.

The best examples are his three fifties in the West Indies ODIs when India toured Windies last time in 2006. All these knocks were so slow that he was robbing the innings of the momentum only to preserve himself. And when the time came for acceleration, he fell for stupid shots and thus wasting the opportunities. Why Uthappa or Karthick are in the team ahead of him?

Reasons are simple: When given chances, Uthappa is not looking to consolidate his place in the team. He goes bang bang and scores 70 runs of 43 balls. Dinesh Karthick on his part goes on to hit a six in the last over of the Pro-20 match to win from a difficult situation. So they are actually playing for the team.

I am not accusing Kaif. He has served India with distinction in the past. But over the last 2 seasons, he has not played any significant role in shaping the destiny of this team. Perhaps even Dinesh Mongia was cold-shouldered by Dravid-Chappelle combination because of his tendency to play safe. He had a chance to establish himself in the team during the KL - TriSeries match against Aussies. Instead of trying some bold hits with the tail for company, he tried to preserve himself to remain not-out. The tail faltered and India lost. If Mongia had tried to hit out instead, he would have endeared himself to the team think-tank.

This is where some middle level seniors are falling into a rut in Indian Cricket. Dravid faced this at one point. But he came out of it and has managed to score 10,000 oDI runs.

So Kaif should look inwarsd for the reasons for his omission rather than outwards. The reason is YOU, Mr. Kaif. Improve your strike rate and then make a fresh claim. Else, guys like Robin, and Karthick will make merry and more like Manoj Tiwari and Poojara are waiting!

Dravid still not has come out of it . He can't single handedly win you the matches . He is the faltoo player . Give me just one instance when he played a good innigs with the tail . He should consider himself a very fortunate , lucky person being blessed by God that even after scoring at snails place he is not in the team ,but he is the captain . I pray to God , India should loose the World cup and dravid be dropped both as a captain and a player

Ahmed, Just because Sehwag is in the team does not mean Kaif should be der too, ideally both of dem should be out of the team. And did u say Kaif won lot of matches for India? I can recall abt 3 or 4 of dem, remember 2003 World cup, in the NZ tour just before that, Kaif had scored 55 runs in 7 innings, still he was in the team.. so as much as u can say Sehwag got lucky, Kaif was lucky to be playing for this long too! Just being a good fielder is not good enough to be in the team dude

obviously u havent watched much cricket, if u say something like that against the best player in the team. how can u forget the 107 he made against pak in pepsi cup in '97, the same game anwar made a 194. we all thought he was gonna get us home with kambli (65). and once dravid fell the next 5 wickets fell in a matter of time and we lost by a 35 while chacing a 328 (a HUGE in those days). and that game we all thought was a sure winner when dravid remained not out at 71 trying to get us home against SA but the last 5 folded for a paltry score and we had overs left and dravid there but no one to support him. you wanna know why i wanted to point out the losing causes. ill tell u exactly why.. NO ONE CAB WIN A MATCH ALL BY THEMSELVES.. whether it is dravid the only one doing good or whether its tendulkar (i can show u several instance when sachin's centuries have gone in vain)
but the thing is that usually its a player whom dravid supports with his partnership that goes on to get the credit of the win. and he doesnt get any mention for that. if u look at any of india's best partnership u'll find dravid there. in ganguly's 183 or sachin's 186 dravid was there with his 145 and 153. and thats the reason they even got to the 183 and 186, cuz no one can get there if the team is all out for 183/186. CRCIKET IS A TEAM SPORT and dravid reminds us of that every day, that's what makes him special. he is the set-up man without whom we would not have won many matches. u take him out u lack that stability no matter how good the other players are. finshing a game with the tail tells more about the tail than the player sticking there till the end.

Dear Mr. Govind Raj,
Read what Mr. Rajesh Jain has written in his message and see there are still people around who has the honesty to write truth

and kaif will be missed in the world cup .....
by rajesh jain on Mar 07, 2007 08:00 PM | Hide replies

I hope kaif has been dropped for his poor form recently.but why was he dropped next test series when he did well against australia in india?but why was he dropped next match for yuvraj when he scored 90 odd runs to save the test match for india?he has been in and out of the team for quite some time now and nobody will get confidence when u do well against australia and get dropped the next series and also when u score 90 odd runs and get dropped the next match ...... could anybody let me know how many members can show the commitment that kaif has shown in the field and running between the wickets? .... hope only a couple of them .... i am not supporting kaif here but kaif would have been much better choice than uthappa(we already have three openers) and karthick ( dravid can handle keeping if required hope that will not be required and also kaif is a much better batsman than karthick).nobody can under estimate kaif just because his recent form is bad .. he has won india the junior world cup as a captain.... hope graeme smith needs to look at his own batting first than commenting out about others ..... india will miss kaif in the field and batting in the middle order when singles are more important and rotating the strike is important rather than scoring quick runs.....and also his running between the wickets ........ look out for the world cup india will miss the services of raina and kaif!
--------------------------------------
Thanks Mr. Rajesh Dear Rajesh,
I am happy that there are still people around like you who has the courage and honesty to speak truth. When so many people are giving so many vague reasons for Kaif's exclusion, at least you have mentioned some real ones. Kaif is one player in the team who even after the hard work of so many years and after winning so many matches for India, is never sure for his place. He is one man who can be dropped even after scoring a century or even after saving an almost lost match as you mentioned. The simple reason for this treatment is the fact that he does not have any godfather. the entire india is cursing Sehwag for being in the team but he is there after such shameful performances becuase he has got a godfather in the form of dravid. The injustice done to Kaif will certainly be shown in the worldcup when India will miss a great teamplayer, the one who always remains happy and energised and always uplifting the morale and spirit of the team.
I feel sad that he is no around. But I am 100% sure that he will make a comeback. He is mentally very strong and his many performances in the past has confirmed that he comes back strongly and has always proved himself in crisis.

Nitin
RE:RE:Kaif demands reasons
by Nitin on Mar 21, 2007 07:23 AM
Kaif really does not deserve a place. Here is why others deserved it more:

Yuvraj: Already proven 10 times better than Kaif.

Sehwag: The logic of taking him is very obvious. He can open; he can bat in lower order. Great strike rate. Can signle-handedly turn the match on his day. He is the lead fifth bowler. Bigger advantage: He is our main 5th bowler.

He is not in the team because Dravid supports him. He is, because of all reasons above and hence Dravid supports him.

What has Kaif offered in last 4 years? Incosistent; very slow in batting; will put pressure on others instead of taking pressure. NO BOWLING. Cannot open the batting. He will come good very soon (if not in this WC itself).

Why don't you guys take last 50 or 100 one-day matches and compare Kaif side-by-side with Sehwag, Dravid etc. There is simply no comparison with Yuvraj. They started about the same time and Kaif has remained thousands of miles behind!

Regarding Uthapa, let him play 50-60 one day games and then compare with Kaif.

How long do we want him to live on past laurels?

Dear Nitin...
When a batsman is given a chance to bat in the top order like sehwag is getting then he has the better opportunity to score than that of lower order batsman ...
Sehwag also didnt performed in last 1 year then there is no point in discussing in abilities of Sehwag ... becoz you only said that "How long do we want him to live on past laurels?"
About Kaif ... I think you have not read Meraj Ahmed's comment ... please read it and then speak
Do you have any answer for why Kaif dropped from TEST though he scored better (Best) against Australia, against Windies in Windies?
About Dravid ... He is also getting only better opportunities and thats why able to score sometimes (very less times) But still he is not pointed out becoz main limelight is on Sehwag's poor form and Sachin's and Dada's form. So many-a-times Dravid's poor performance (Consistent Poor) is shadowed becoz of other players

absolutly rigth, People need to think about this..India have lost matches due to dravid slow performance....No word to say simply he is realy blessed with...

Go back dravid...Kaif is 200 time better if he was in place of dravid. He have capability of rotating strike better than dravid and can play good shots better than Dravid . This is the reality...... cany argue....much

are you out of your mind?

you are comparing Kaif with Dravid. You seriously need some help. Indian team did not have a good middle order batsman when dravid came in. Look at dravid's record and try to make some sense when you write.
