Temple for Ganguly (contd)
by babi ati on Jun 30, 2007 11:06 PM

Since Ganguly's success is partly due to Dalmia, a darwan (a.k.a security) in safari suit with resemblance to Jaggu will be hired.
By the way, the temple will be located in Calcutta near Howrah railway station for fans to make quick darshans.
Readers are encouraged to chip in more ideas.

Temple for Ganguly
by babi ati on Jun 30, 2007 11:00 PM

Folks,

I am thinking of building a temple in the name of Ganguly.Donations will be gratefully accepted. The main murty of course will be Ganguly fully draped in white with bat in one hand, a ball in the other and his foot on Greg Chappell (Just picture Kali mai). His sponsors, including chawanprash, logos will be plastered all over the temple walls. There will be two hundis - one for supporters to donate real cash and the other for people in denial who can drop in an index card. The index card can contain inflammatory text and can be written to their hearts content. The purohit selection will be critical as that person needs to be a statistics wiz (rediff readers need not apply) because every morning he/she will rattle off his achievements in the form of puja. A coconut will be cracked but it will be painted like a cricket ball. If the devotees want to crack a coconut then they will have to bring their own bats. The temple will have two orderly lines, one for die hard fans and the other . . . you guessed it. To prevent fist fights a fiberglass wall will separate the two groups. Since Dada is famous for his punctuality the puja ceremonies will always start late in his honor. An added feature will be audio visuals in the basement. Dada's achievements will be played all day on giant screen. Since Ganguly is a charitable guy, a portion of the cash collected will be used for scouting for next Dada (preferably a Bengali). Since Ganguly's success is partly due to Dalmia, a darwan (

whatever idiot ppl say abt tendulkar, without him indian team is a joke.

dashing dhoni is ANDA dhoni outside India in tough conditions. Yuvraj Singh though made 49 made a mess of an easy affair. it was just that the wicket became easy that he could survive despite being totally out of depth in technique outside the off stump against fast bowlers.

Only Sachin and Dravid have technique to face quality fast bowlers. we are getting proof of it again and again. and out of sachin and dravid only sachin can hit the likes of Ntini, Mcgrath, Pollock, Shoaib etc.

so accept with grace sachin is still the only good players in the team with both technique and the flamboyance to hit quality fast bowlers of the world in tought conditions!!!!!

sachin tendulkar cant handle pressure anymore he will score hundreds only when it doesnt matter much whether India wins or not, in pressure conditions you can see his legs shivering, what is worse is now people have startes showing sympathy to a one time maestro, when he scores people say, see even after so much he still can time the ball....what a pity...only an Indian legend faces all this, reason being the greed to earn as much as you can....

20-20 Cricket and India...we are not cut up for this.
by mudit saxena on Jun 30, 2007 06:13 PM  | Hide replies

I was watching 20-20 b/w WI and england and it occured to me that India is not and can never be ready for this game.
we all know 20-20 cricket sheer raw muscle power and our country where 90% cricketers are born Rahul Dravid we can't hope to make 170 score in 20 overs.
At best we can score 150 off 20 overs and then rely on over bowlers to do the trick.
Except for dhoni no one can really smash the ball hard enough to clean the ropes Consistantly. We know how over team collapses under pressure. I remember on several ocassions when we neened 100 of some 95 balls with 8 or 9 wickest in hands, our players faild to hit the needed bounderies coz every time they tried to hit a big shot they were caught weel within the boundry rope. So, we can stick to the wicket in longer versions of the game where talent is more omportant than power but this 20-20 version is not Designed for Indians. We are naturally built like sissies. We carry far less muscles than our western counterparts. We are mostaly shameless vegetarians and coz of some stupid unknown reason , proud of being a vegetraian. All the vegetarians are a disgrace to cricket and other physical games and should be banned from all the physical sports.

you are right to some extent but the reason is not the lack of physical strength to clear the ropes rather a lack of mental strength to face critical situations, however I believe Yuvraj singh if made a bit more disciplined can easily clear any rope of any bowling, consistently....

are you people always gonna be like this? come out of the rot man....finding solace in history is a deed of the weak....sachin was a good batsman but he is a burden on the team now....put him in a crunch situation and you can see his trembling legs all visible....he should be now forced to hang his boots or else we are never going to have true match winners.....HOWEVER THIS DISCUSSION IS FOR A REAL MATCH WINNER GANGULY AND NOT FOR A LOSER LIKE SACHIN....

hey guys SA coach's comment was to raise conflict in indian team..otherwise yesterdays comment doesn't make sense. it was not, ganguly who helped india win yesterday it was mainly yuvraj, sachin and kartik. SA coach had thrown infighting bone ..we guys jumped on to it, hope team member didn't jumped to get it. Yesterday's gaguly's inining was a tame inning, he seems like out of touch. All the players should stick together like a team then only we can win, not by the grace of a single person.
