you've got nothing to worry about vaughan at least not from the stars of indian team. they are just paper tigers...no good against seaming ball...so enjoy...they'll just give you catch practise in slip and also dont worry if you drop a couple..they'll give you more in next delivery

Re:Always encourage India chirag Patel
Being an indian u should always encourage India iresspective of failures or succsess. Indian batting lineup especially dravid, sachin and ganguly's is one of the worlds strongest batting line up. Recently in india, our team was never defeated in test matches . Every country is strong in its home conditions. It took australia 33 years to defeat india in india. Mind u the result for last tour to england was draw. Even australia could not defeat india in australia dut to these line up.

sachin and sourav will put undue pressure on india!!!!thet haven't done anything of note in the last few years!!sachin against england & against s. africa was a big flop!!
until & unless ageing "greats" are made to sit out of the team indian team will always be lambs abroad...& at home too!!
from being a great cricketer sachin has now become a below ordinary cricketer....whenever team requires him...he never fires...records do not matter for us...team india's performance does!!!
india has no chance in england....it'll be vanquished by the english!!
i can only sympathize with the juniors...bcoz again the axe will fall on them...& senior "great" players will keep playing....& team india will keep losing!!!
alas!!the state of affairs in indian cricket(read BCCI)is hopeless!!!!

V need to be a bit optimistic. Every one in their lives come accross some failures at some point of their life. It doesn't mean they fail allways.Ganguly was away frm team for almost 1 year frm 2005 -06. Every one aware of the performance of team India. Ind lost to Eng when Eng toured Ind in 2006. At that time it was attributed to some thing else's failure. Ganguly is not at all a problem in the team. Afterall the formidable leadership that makes the mater which defenitely lagging in Dravid. He cant motivate either younger players whose performance is very critical to a teams good show. I know, Dravid is just a gentleman and he knows his responsibility. But to be honest, he cant motivate young players and get max out ofthem. That was the thing exactly Ganguly did during his tenure by encouraging Youvraj, Sehwag, Kaif etc.
That is the reason now, v dont have a good bench strength from the last 2 years or so.

Juniors are not worth mentioning. It is fool people like you who are after Sachin and Saurav. In fact spineless Dravid should be immediately thrown out of Team. BTW are you rleated to Bedi? Looks like from your non-sense thoughts!!!

i m amazed!!!!!!!
even after so much dismal performances....sm people are supporting senior players!!!!
records r good only for statisticians!!!!!!
for people like us only the current performance matters!!!!
who is the worst fielding side in world...well hands down...its India!!!jus luk at ganguly...he is a sorry picture on the field...even bangladesh is ahead of us in fielding!!!!& wn did sachin scored a crucial knock.....wn did sourav scored his last hundred???????
comeon man...hundreds against bangaladesh & zimbabwe???...is that wt matters to us...i m sorry but if this is the yardstick for performances..then u r living in a fool's paradise!!
bring fresh legs in the team.....they bring energy & attitude in the team.....& don't tell me that india duznt hv players to fill seniors' place!!!!!we are having exceptional players in evry state...bt alas for the politics within the BCcI!!!!
all those supprting senior players won't be able to show their faces.......i bet!!!!!

Formidable Indian Batting !
by desi bhai on Jun 20, 2007 12:52 PM  | Hide replies

What prompted Vaughan to quote - Indian Batting is very formidable ! ?
He needs to look at batting averages of selected Indian batsmen for last 2 years :-)

Only Dravid and somewhat Laxman have something to show. Other ones with good averages arent there in the team. (yes surprise surprise Sewhag and Kaif on foreign tours have better averages than others!)

Hopefully people like Karthik and Jaffar (for once he needs to be consistent) will apply themselves and make full use of the opportunity.
English bowling maynot be that strong.

Chances are that Harminson wont be there (hernia operation), Flintoff may not recover from injury and india will be able to handle panesar. This leaves only one major wicket taking bowler - sidebottom, hopefully indian think tank are abserving him closely..

Thanks

Point well taken... except for one. When was Laxman's average good? This is a joke. Right from his debu he is one of the consistentely inconsistent btasmen. When do think he last scored a 100?

Dear Srinivas, Laxman has been a proven performer in Test Cricket. As for the last 100, he scored a match winning hundered against srilanka in 2005 and after that unfortunately he cannot be accomodated in the team as we have been playing with 5 bowlers instead of the usual 4 bowlers. Ganguly's return has really created a problem and it is a worrying sign as such a superb player like laxman has not been able to make it to the eleven. I really don't understand why ganguly and sachin have to prolong their careers. If tomorrow, all of them - ganguly, sachin, dravid & laxman are retiring simultaneously it will create a big problem. We need to replace them one by one by giving chances to youngsters or the players with some experience like yuveraj singh, kaif etc. Otherwise, its going to be big problem for india. Unless, youngsters are given chances to play alongside these seniors, we will be back to old days. so, a balanced side is needed.

Sandeep Keesara,
Laxman's batting is not elegant as it was before. In south africa he strugled to score at good run rate. Even ganguly's run rate was better. I strongly beleive if indian batsman play to their potential, then definetly vaughn will be counting stars. U know what i mean. Problem is with inexperiened bowlers.
