Winning world cup in 1983 was not a fluke guys. India followed it up with another tournament win (I forgot whether it is Champions trophy or prudential cup). Kapil's contribution as captain was memorable and he rightly deserved the award of Best Indian cricketer of the last century. Appreciate the win in 1983 rather than making some stupidc omments. You cannot compare teams of two different tournaments.

The 1983 world cup was the Prudential Cup..and Champions trophy was the tournament India won in 1985 in Australia (with an unbeaten run)and Ravi Shastri was the Champion of champions. No doubt, a great team.
when i was 13/ 14..kapil played for worcestershire, and regularly cam to old trafford to play against lancashire. i cant tell u how nice he was to , every time i met him. in a match that was going to be a draw anyway..he hit a six and waived his bat at me..then got bowled the next ball by jack simmons..the lancs players turned and clapped me afterwards as i kept on shouting at him to hit sixers..ps. in county matches..theres usually about ten people watching and a boy shouting does make a difference..zzzz..even i've fallen asleep with this story! sorry
