This century was badly needed at the World Cup and not at this game where nobody cared whether Dhoni got out for zero as he did in both matches at World Cup. Dhoni please score your runs in matches that matter a lot to India. This century of yours nobody will remember besides you.

ford declines to coach india

i think it is best if BCCI appoints some indian like Anshuman Gaekwad back as coach. this one-year contract bullshit will not do with international coaches. for the weirdo running of BCCI, indian coach is best.

lol..how about vusimuzi sibanda. the name sounds great ;-))))

on a serious note, why not sachin tendulkar doubling up as a batting consultant. just send a manager along with the team with no coach.

ha ha ha..i read that. BCCI deserves this. Somehow i had this intuitive feeling that Ford will decline as he has to abandon his contract with Kent which is till 2009 and BCCI offered contract to him till one eyar only. Mazaa aa gaya. Saale BCCI ke log apne aap ko khuda mante hain. Lag gayi na buri terah???!!!!

this is all b'coz of so called gr8 gavaskar. He is the culprit for this whole situation, and just think - the next contender is emburey, gavas favourite. wat a mess.
In the first place gavas screwed watmore's selection, now its all happening. b'coz of his bossyness, now our indian team is suffering, they are about to start a long season, but the situation is struggling to find a coach. great great mess.

Man, when I had read the newspapers yesterday that Ford will be given 1 yr contract and he would have to manage his Kent contract own his own, I felt he would decline it. Moreover he has small children who are studying, if he takes this job where will he be giving time to children who are groeing up.

Ford has indeed taken a wise decision of not taking the job of the Indian Cricket coach.

Sharad Pawar, leave the BCCI job immediately you are not fit for it. You don't know what is professionalism and also your team.

and I enjoyed Dhonis innings however what I also saw was that Dhoni really went after Kenyan and Zimbabwean bowlers like Chigumbura and Tikolo etc who cannot be termed world class, whenever he took strike against world class SA bowlers he always looked for singles, I really dont think Dhoni has recovered the form he showed before World cup when he belted the likes of Shoaib Akthar that is the kind of Dhoni we want.

dhoni is a known blaster of weak attacks and that too on indian conditions. we should try some keeper other than dhoni who can bat well abroad too. btw i don't think kartik is the answer to that.

Consistency Of Dhoni
by Mukesh Verma on Jun 11, 2007 02:15 PM  | Hide replies

I take pride in saying that Dhoni(though originally from Himachal)is from Ranchi, the place where I too belong to. It did hurt me during the world cup campaign when Dhoni failed. But then, He is the same batsman who was rated No. 1.(though for a few weeks)which no other Indian player has achieved recently. And then, every one cannot be a Bradman. Dhoni did fail for a few matches and the media was out for his head just because of his long hair and looks or a bunch of hoodlooms went and ransacked his new house(under construction). It is high time we take sports as sports. How shameful was it for the media to have victimised Sehwag, Dhoni and put them under so much pressure. Overall, I feel Dhoni has been consitent and always putting him against Kartik is also like talking to him with a sword in his neck.

i dont agree with u.
karthik is much more technically correct batsman than dhoni. dhoni has to correct his technical flaws to score consistently. playing n hitting sixes in indian conditions s not a big deal. what happnd to him in worldcup was expected. coz all teams have sorted him out. he like ganguly is not gud at host pitched stuff. he showd character unlike ganguly. i believe both karthik and dhoni shud be there in the team. dinesh's success as a opener in south africa a place where even sachin averages only 30odd cannot be discounted. he is a much superior keeper than dhoni. but dhoni has improved his keeping but leaps and bounds.
AND ONE MORE THING IAM FRM CHENNAI AS UR FRM RANCHI

Hi friends,

Once in a blue moon we see such a healthy discussion. Both of you are talking about your opinion, your favourite players and their abilities positively, talking about regionalism yet respecting others feelings. I am proud of you guys. I am proud that I am an Indian as well. Keep it up mate.

No you dont have to type that you are from chennai in capitals. That is well understood :) I wonder when are we going to have cricket fans who can analyse without regional bais.

I agree with Mukesh Verma that the reaction after worldcup was extreme. Atleast people should understand that this guy is not a specialist batsman. He is a keeper first, and whatever he does with bat is a bonus.

Even in south africa, Dhony got few 30s and 40s. he may not be a dravid, but he can surely bat outside india too, may be with less success. He is defintley an asset, coming at no 7 he adds a lot of balance to the team.

Kartick is a differnt batsman. He is is good in his own way. India can defintely think of playing him as a batsman in in matches and situations that suits his style of batting. He is technically sound and have a good temparament.

India was looking for one decent keeper who can bat a bit, and finally we have two!
Just my opinion, as I am from a neutral state. Dhony has improved his keeping in recent times - I will rate him as a better keeper. Karthik makes more mistakes than Dhony even though he appears to be a technically correct keeper.

dhoni is below average outside india. this fact has to be considered. his overall avg of 45 is a big misleader as most of his blast innings are in indian conditions against weak attacks. i don't think karthik needs to play as a keeper(he can play as a batsman) but probably we need to try someone else other than dhoni as keeper. dhoni certainly is a liability abroad as a wk batsman in my opinio. maybe time to try someone else as keeper apart from these two.

Dhoni is below average outside India, so what about his performance in Pakistan. May be in WI/SA he didn't score well, but see the performance of whol team in that series. Dhoni is an attacking batsmen. The team management made him play at no.7 when top order is failing and he has no option but to play slowly and just protect the wicket which is against his natyral game. he should come as an opener or no.3 where he can utilize power play and send the likes oh shoaib and pollock over boundaries.
If you notice when ever he played at top, he never failed. In my view he should play in top order. This will be good for india as well as him.
