Is Gavaskar losing it?
by Ravi Shankar on Jun 09, 2007 10:29 AM

You guys have a point. Gavaskar is proving to be quite a pain and there seems to be a lot of you-are-from-Mumbai-so-I'll-just-close-one-eye going on. So it is hard to see him being less influential while Pawar heads the board.

As for Panicker, I simply do not agree. The guy is one of the best analysts we've got. You have read his take on Kapil, but have you read his take on Gavaskar and the entire circus act in general? Here it is:
http://www.prempanicker.com/index.php?/site/comedy_central/

I think it is high time we stopped watching so much cricket and started supporting football or tennis. The reason why cricket authorities in India have so much power (and therefore, arrogance) is because we have assured them of our dollar and our attention. You and I can't bring Gavaskar tumbling down from his whimsical perch, but we can take away that assurance.

Confused BCCI
by Shankar Nag on Jun 08, 2007 08:35 AM  | Hide replies

Dav has a well proven record as coach. I think he is the best choice for the job. If they select people like Emburey OR Ford, who know nothing about sub-continent culture, it will be another disaster. I think Sunil has some aversion towards the aussies. If he thinks Indian should be the coach, he himself can contest for the job. But he will not. Because he is a wily old fox who prefers to work behind the screen rather than taking the hot seat. He is a selfish pig. He tried hard to screw Kapil's world cup campaign in '83, by scoring single digits in almost all the matches. He should not be given the power to dictate Indian cricket. The confused BCCI should understand.

yes my frnd, b'coz of this stupid guy, indian cric is dying. he screwed during his playing days and still he wants to continue. due to his personal ego indian cric is affected. throw him out soon for the good of the indian cric.dav watmore is 100% perfect candidate with subcontinent experiance and exposure, i dont understand what made the committe to go against this - the culprit is none other than gavas.

Recipe for disaster
by shiva on Jun 08, 2007 06:45 AM

It is clear as daylight that going for foreign coach is a sure step to disaster and that too after the recent fiasco.

When Sri Lanka and BG looked upto them, our super stars, including former ones, will look down on them. Emburey was hit for consecutive sixes by Kapil Dev in England and he will be easy meat roasted in no time in our very hot climate. From the cool shores of England he will land up in the frying pan. There are wheels within wheels in our cricket hierarchy - too many cooks spoil the broth. Ford is likely to be ignored by all, but he can srike a bargain to make enough for his life time, as BCCI is desperate.

The ploy seems to be to blame foreign coaches for all failures, take all credit for any victories (fat hope?). If all goes wrong, the foreign coaches can be packed off (of course not Pakistan style, thank God) on one way ticket. He will be more than willing to take the first flight out and land up in his shores looking like, escaped from the lions, mauled by a bull, or from the mental asylum of Indian cricket.

Let cool heads prevail. We should have new professional set up and the whole team involved should be replaced with new faces with fresh ideas. We are carrying too much luggage. We are hurtling towards last position and we may have to rely on wild card entry for the future WCs, due mainly to our money power and madness brought about by past individual glories.

We are going in circles, clueless, pulling in different directions.

BCCI had done it again !!!!

Why on earth did BCCI chose not to appoint Whatmore with such fabulous coaching record and short list 2 other coaches from South Africa and England who have no great acheivements to their name.
Again the Indian team is going to loose the next world cup and the coach is gonna quit the job after banking a good amount of money.

this is all gavaskar politics and ego, he insisted for indian coach, than why he nominate this useless emburey, every one in the cric circle is surprised on this, gavas show his ego and want to prove the indian cric that still he is boss, this is not his own house to decide things, b'coz of his stupidity, we the true cric lovers who thinks purely good about indian cric is upset. he done the same politics during his playing days, he decided the team and now coach, example - at one stage Shastri batting form was so bad, more than present sehwag, but still he remained in the team, b'coz he was in the good books of gavas. he is the worst diseas in indian cric. if u compare this guy to our present players - they all good in all aspects. so dirty creature this gavas.
