Good players don't necessarily make good coaches as proven in the Chappel case.Whatmore would have been the ideal candidate,we missed Moody ealier and he took SriLanka to the WC final. Both Ford and Emburey don't inspire confidence.

This is not new in Rediff, most articles have wrong data, because they copy and paste from other websites.
He holds the world record of bowling 642 balls without a wicket in any Test series! He has a poor test record though he did well in 1st class cricket where he bowled to poor english players who are not good at spin bowling. What is the relation between his record and coaching? He doesn't get respect from players if he has not done well in the past.
