I have been reading the contributions of readers in this section. Regret to state that most writings and thoughts are in very poor taste. Why are you subjecting readers to such terrible thoughts. You may refer to readers feedback on the GUJJAR CRISIS , or SELECTION IF CRICKET COACH in the immediate context.

It is time to implement some basic editorial restrictions to ensure quality in writing.

Tendulkar as coach
by raju on Jun 04, 2007 06:14 PM

I think SRT should double up as coach as well as batsman. This way he can get rest too. When he is not playing as a batsman he will act as coach of the team. So, he will not be so desperate to play all matches. Whatmore, Ford or tom dic k and harry is not going to make any difference to the team.

Politics and Sports are different fields
by sainadh p on Jun 04, 2007 03:57 PM  | Hide replies

The main reason for Asian teams poor performance in cricket is here politicians put a finger in every thing. With them, they bring all the evils of the political system like castism, favouritism, poor management etc. Look at Cricket Australia which is headed by a non-politician. What the hell mr Sharad Pawar is doing in BCCI. He is neither "Ghar ka" nor "Ghat ka".

as per my view there should be a good fast bowler as indian cricket coach. beacuse indian batsman are very good but the bowlers are not.

Dav Whatmore is the best bet at any given time.... he's well known for his training techniques..... also point to note, he survived the politics in SL cricket and got them the world cup..... so he can very well handle politics in Indian cricket.

Why is there no reservation in Cricket
by vinith varghese on Jun 04, 2007 03:11 PM  | Hide replies

There must be reservation in Cricket too why is no politician doing this????????? Every educational institute has reservation including the IIT and IIM , so it is necessary to have reservations.. when will the backward community excel in cricket.. at least they can earn a decent savings... Mayawati and Arjun ( useless) Singh listening... please make reservation in players for Cricket and Hockey .. WHY MUST ONLY THE STUDENTS AND PROFESSIONALS SUFFER.. In this case we can have a suitable coach who has relative international exposure within 3 years...

Do you think players are selected on the basis their capability? The quota system is already in use in BCCI(But in a different format). You need to be either from the selectors caste or region to be in the team. That is the reason for the mess in Indian cricket.

True,
Gradually all the players from non - Bombay and non - Karnatka teams are being sidelined. Sourav was successful since he brought in and supported GOOD players from all parts of country. Now with Sharad Pawar, Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri in charge we will have more players from Bombay then any other part of INDIA. In fact I am surprised that there are only TWO PAWARs in the team right now!

Keeping his current form in view, may be 10 years later we can ask him to coach India. For the time being we need to manage with Whatmore or Madan Lal or Graham Ford.

Why it takes so much time?
by sainadh p on Jun 04, 2007 12:31 PM  | Hide replies

Why so much time is wasted on picking a coach as if the coach himself will play and win the matches for india. If the same time is spent on selecting a good team then I think we dont need a coach first of all.
