aggressive cricket
by vinoth kumar on Jul 31, 2007 02:13 PM

It is good to see aggressive cricket from indian and england players which argurs well for the game.if the game played without aggresive nature the viewers would get bored.but everything should be only on the field once they come out of the field they should forget about the thing that happened inside the field.

Be Graceful in DEFEAT
by Snehasish on Jul 31, 2007 12:14 PM

Mr. Prior and the english team should be graceful in defeat. India has proved in this test that they are a better team. Tomorrow will be a different day and England may come on top. So, its better to accept the defeat in grace rather than fighting, mud sledging and allegations. Come on guys...this is CRICKET..

White Umpires want Ponting to Dominate
by Madhu Sudhan Reddy on Jul 31, 2007 11:13 AM  | Hide replies

Hi all,

u might not be aware that all top umpires support Ponting score runs. Definitely Taufel would have not given out to Ponting.

Its White umpires and Steve Bucknor Supports Lara. So Sachin has to overcome all these.

A white cricketer can get away with whatever he does. Sledging can be highly distracting to the batsman. A good cricketer must let his ball and bat speak. Unfortunately it is no longer a gentlemans game.

We need TV Umpires to decide on all catches
by Nandu R on Jul 30, 2007 08:10 PM

After seeing the Australian umpire interview.. I really feel its high time we get use of the latest technology.
Let the captain and batsman have every right to appeal against a decision.
Below are the umpires comment.

Australian umpire Simon Taufel, who has been in the eye of a storm for giving Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly out on the third day of the second Test, has acknowledged that he was "very upset" to have handed a poor decision to Tendulkar.

However, Taufel has backed his decision to give out Ganguly saying that he would give that out every time.

I feel bad for ganguly. Incase of peterson they asked him to come back and bat but not in case of ganguly. Still umpire feels its right what he did

Know the LBW rules part 2
by Nandu R on Jul 30, 2007 07:54 PM

3. Off side of wicket
The off side of the striker's wicket shall be determined by the striker's stance at the moment the ball comes into play for that delivery.

In case of tendulkar it was clearly not out as the ball was never going to hit the stumps. It is no crime to not play the ball. Also its not a poor tactics. This tactics is used by all international players. So dont bring your gully game example when playing international games

Know the LBW rules
by Nandu R on Jul 30, 2007 07:52 PM  | Hide replies

People here seems to have no idea of what the rules are but still comment as if they know everything.
It DOES NOT MATTER WHETHER BATSMAN OFFERS A SHOT OR NOT. Its out only when any of this following happens
Law 36 (Leg before wicket)
1. Out LBW
The striker is out LBW in the circumstances set out below.
(a)The bowler delivers a ball, not being a No ball

and (b) the ball, if it is not intercepted full pitch, pitches in line between wicket and wicket or on the off side of the striker's wicket
and (c) the ball not having previously touched his bat, the striker intercepts the ball, either full pitch or after pitching, with any part of his person
and (d) the point of impact, even if above the level of the bails
either (i) is between wicket and wicket
or (ii) is either between wicket and wicket or outside the line of the off stump, if the striker has made no genuine attempt to play the ball with his bat

and (e) but for the interception, the ball would have hit the wicket.

2. Interception of the ball
(a) In assessing points (c), (d) and (e) in 1 above, only the first interception is to be considered.

(b) In assessing point (e) in 1 above, it is to be assumed that the path of the ball before interception would have continued after interception, irrespective of whether the ball might have pitched subsequently or not.

3. Off side of wicket
The off side of the striker's wicket shall be determined by the striker's stance at the moment the ball comes into play for
