why aren't u in hurry for the coach.. do you want to wait till the last moment and face the same situation as before.... if you are serving indian cricket properly then why don't you hire a coach in profesional manner and why dont you listen (rather act) to ex-cricketer's suggestions regarding improvement of infrastructure at domestic level... its fine that you cant recognize ICL but why dont you hire 2 big players for each ranaji team so that our young players can take some tips from them........i know state associations should do that but why dont you help them with some money to get two players each for their teams....... BCCI being richest board/club in world, why cant you hire support staff like England they have bowling coach like Allan donald, batting like andy flower, then head coach etc.... we have just hired Venktesh prasad and robin singh what about batting coach/or head coach...... venktesh is doing great job i agree but we should hire one very experienced bowling coach and let venktesh work as assistant bowling coach for 2 years and then you can give venktesh full charge.... as we need to work on bowlers...... thats why we should have two coaches for that one venktesh and one like Donald, McGrath, Wasim Akram,Walsh or any great bowler ( i know great player dont always become great coaches but great bowlers can definitely teach lot to youngesters)......... dont you see what happened to Irfan Pathan, munaf patel...... i hope we dont lose sree and RP

The team is getting tired and old.It is time to go forward with a shadow team with each member in the shadow team being a possible replacement for a member of the main team. The possible candidates for the shadow team -Pujara,Kaif to open or Chopra versus Jaffer,Gambhir,Manoj Tewary for Dravid,Rohit Sharma and Badrinath for Tendulkarand Laxman,Yuvraj for Ganguly,Karthick versus Dhoni.Chawla,Abdulla versus Kumble,Bose versus Zaheer,Ishant Sharma versus Sreesanth,VRV Singh versus RPSingh.Noone can take his place for granted. The test for consistency among the members of the main team shd be an average of 50 in 6 innings excluding matches against Bangla Desh,Zimbabwe etc and for bowlers it has to be 12 wickets at least in 6 innings. So to go forward let us have a shadow team which is designated to challenge the main team members for places.Noone shd be carried as a passenger on past laurels.

John Bosco,
As you mentioned if you need batsmans with an average of 50 in the last 6 innings excluding Bangladesh and Zimbabwe test matches then i am surely we will never have a team with 11 members.Never in history all 5 or 6 batsman had an average of 50 in their last 6 innings for a longer period. This includes teams like australia, south africa, england, NZ, PAK and Srilanka. It seems like you are talking as if having an average of 50 is so easy.Only 36 people in this whole cricket history have an average of 50 in test matches.Only 9 people in the whole world who are playing at present have an average of 50 . Going by your logic, no country can ever play cricket. If you have ever played cricket then you will know how difficult it is to score 50 runs. People who have watched cricket highlights alone and brought up like you will never understand the game cricket

Stop Blaming
by sudhir chauhan on Jul 27, 2007 02:58 PM

Mr. Dravid
you should hide your face and never come out for such comments.

your team is filled with great players, you played 7 top batsman and still you say batting is worry.

your statements gives us a impression that India does not have any batsman left, if your 7 batsman cannot perform then what else you want.

you sgould request International Cricket Association to allow India to play atleast 20 batsman, going on the probability of the 20 atleast 3-4 will perform.

now he is getting too big for his shoes, playing only for his own and not for the team, i dont think i enjoy watching him anymore, but he shud be wise himself in making way for youngsters pr start grooming them. But NO, sitting on his big ass to make some more records by playing against teams like bangla, bermuda and england. Or else better idea, get into the team while playing against weaker teams only, u can't fire in front of any other line up.............ur days are gone..........

If you remove the Great Sachin and Lovable Ganguly and memorable Shewag from Cricket team, then batting will not be a concern at all Mr. Dravid.

Why Blame Sachin??
by ram on Jul 27, 2007 01:11 PM  | Hide replies

Dravid is d culprit,he has a phenomenal avg. of 47 in d 4th inings of test matches and his recent failings is d reason for India's bad perfrmances...not for nothing was he called D Wall sometime back, all d guts and d gumption have vanished sinc he took over captaincy, and we can only see d results...as for Sachin, why blame him...he is a known failure in 4th innings of test matches(avg. of 33 aginst career avg. of 55),besides this we could generalise dis statement and say dat in crunch situations undoubtedly fails like India needs to score big batting 2nd in a ODI...gr8 playr,yes..gr8 batsman,yes...matchwinner,NO NO NO...but lets hope dat for India's sake Dravid who was sucha perfect anchor, gets back into form...as for Sachin, let him notch up a ton or more for records sake...mind u, even dat is difficult to happen In England bcoz of d seaming n swinging condistions there...only on a belter of a pitch, can we expect Sachin to do so...

Its not question of blamming any one. But certainly Sachin's currunt run is a worry. For heavens sake dont quote his average or his scores in Bangladesh tour. Against better teams he is consistingly flopping. You cannot say the same is applicable for Dravid though he has failed last 2 matches. I can vouch for Dravid that he would play one big inning of 60 to 70 in 2nd or 3rd match, but again not sure of Sachin. That is why Sachin is talked off. At the moment he is big roast for no toast.

Dravid does not have enough confidence on himself and the team after he took over the captaincy. Confidence makes the difference. Dont ever say Batting is poor, bowling is poor. Believe yourself and play. Can beat any team..
