What Indian Fans Want?
by Nandu R on Jul 24, 2007 07:41 PM  | Hide replies

I am extremely surprise with the way how our cricket fans react and comment on Indian cricket & Cricketers?.Lets get your objectives straight before you guys comment

1. Do you guys want Sachin/Ganguly/Dravid to be Replaced?
2. Are you guys jealous of Saching/Dravid/Ganguly making money?
3. Do you guys want youngsters like Raina/ Kaif/Gambhir to be in the Team?
4. Do you guys want India to win matches or Draw if not win or not lose many instead of all.

Let us share a healthy debate. Shall we?

My dear Nandu

First of all we are not jealous of anybody making money.

Next, those who perform consistently should be in the team and not on past heroics.

In every sport there is a age limit and fitness level. Players who have played Test Cricket more than 15 years would have certainly lost their bearings. They should come forward and retire instead of clinging on like our Politicians, who continue to occupy the busiest and topmost post even after they cross the age of 70 .

Young crop should be really encouraged. Even England without Hoggard, Harmison and Flintoff, had almost won the Test match against India at Lords. U give chance to youngsters, they will certainly perform much better than the paper Heros.

Last but not the least, the team should play positive Cricket and think positively and should not be bothered about winning or losing.

If Indian team change their mindset, laurels will be at their doorstep very soon.

My Dear Raman,

I hope you read what i wrote. If not please read it again.Did i ever mention Sachin/Dravid or Ganguly to be included in the team based on past heroics.Lets take the last one year or last 10 matches or last twenty matches and see who has performed well. If raina, kaif or gambhir scored more runs than its completely acceptable to take Dravid/sachin and ganguly out of the team. But can you please tell me which youngster have proved they are better than the ones in the team at present. Suresh raina's average in last 10 matches are 16.37,last 20 matches are 18.94, Last 30 matches are 27.52, Kaif's last 10 matches average is 26.87,last 20 matches average is 19.31,last 30 match average is 25.37,Gambhir last 10 matches average 36.88,last 20 matches average 30.78, Tendulkar last 10 matches average 40.37,Last 20 matches average 38,last 30 matches average 45.68,dravid last 10 matches average 42.83,last 20 matches average 48.00,last 30 matches average 35.04. Please read those numbers and tell me who is better. Youngsters or Seniors. We are not talking about past glories, we are not talking about experience, we are not talking about age, We only want to know who has scored more runs in the past 10 or 20 or 30 matches whatsoever you prefer. I hope those are much better numbers dravid/sachin have compared to so called youngster. With the average youngsters have we cant even win against bangladesjh, bermuda or kenya. Stop being emotional, stop expecting too much, stop accusin

accountability is the watchword. these guys make gobs of money fine. but there's an unhealthy trend. these guys are never out of the picture when they are out of form, indefinite extwension is unacceptable. rotation should also be considered for others to develop as good crickters. there's no retirement strategy, who will replace them ? how will the youngsters be groomed if these guys occupy the crease forever ? there's no alternate team, strategy. so its fair that they be questioned.

but asking them out just because they have made enough money is silly. i agree with you there. they are good, so let them make the most of the situation.

Dear Nandu,
No one is envy for them making money. The problem is they don't do justice to job for which or through which they are paid heavily. We, the cricket lovers, want the team to win matches. Such a desire is common to all who love their country. It is common that even those who don't like cricket also gets happy hearing that our team has won a match, even if the opposition team was the weakest.
If such big guns (like Tendulkar,Ganguly and Dravid) cannot make India winning matches, let them not play any more matches. Let's try others and if we could not find anyone capable of winning matches, let this game be banned in our country. We claim that Sachin is the best batsman, but the fact is that out of the 37 hundreds he scored only two has been scored in the last innings (remember, the last innings is the crucial innings of any test match, when the team plays for either a draw or a win). Dravid has a much better average (47) than Tendulkar (35). We always have heavy faith in these people, however they only manage to fail us whenever it matters. Dravid is the only exception with good contributions to India's victory (especially in overseas test matches like last England england series, tour to Australia, West Indies, etc.). If these big start pizzing while facing average bowlers like James Anderson, R. Sidebottom, C. Tremlett, etc. let them be off the scene and let younger players like Raina, kaif, Gambhir etc. play the game..
Regards,

Dear Monoj, I see your frustration that our cricketers are not performing upto our expectations. But you also have to agree with so called youngsters Raina,Kaif, Gambhir are worst compared to Rahul, Sachin and Ganguly. Now that we are see once in a while victories, few draws and few lost matches. But if only youngsters like Raina, Kaif, gambhir are there in the team then we will not even win against bangladesh. Instead of calling for players head, why not call for BCCI head or selectors head.Agreed sachin has 33.65 in the 4th innings with only 2 century and 2 half century. Other than Dravid with 47.76 average in the 4th innings with 1 century and 9 half century. No one else has any better record compared to that 33.65 average in 4th innings. As you mentioned the youngsters name . They have very poor record compared to that of sachins. Kaif with 26 average in 4th innings with no hundred or no fifty. Also we cant select a player just with his 4th innings average. Sachin has 72.49 in 1st match innings average.51.83 in 2nd match innings and 50.09 in 3rd match innings. No one has such a records. Unfortunately in cricket they do not allow one person to play in 1st, 2nd and 3rd match innings and someone else to play for that person in 4th match innings. I am not here to compare sachin or dravid but other than those two guys who has scored heavily or who has shown any sign of matching them to call for their heads. Rather than being emotional and blaming just one or two persons lets thi

it is BCCI which is to be blamed
by Krishna on Jul 24, 2007 06:59 PM  | Hide replies

See, any player can announce his availability. it is completely upto him and no one can question why a person is not retiring. It is BCCI who should select team thru a selection committee and they should select the team based on the priorities set by the board. Selecting a senior or junior should be done and isd being done the selection committee. So, why blame players? They can say that they can play till they are 50. BCCI is not under any obligation to select them. If they have such obligation, then it is BCCI which is to be blamed.

Time to boot out the Trojan Sachin
by Bengal Tiger on Jul 24, 2007 04:46 PM  | Hide replies

Sachin has become like a trojan, quickly replicating himself in the Indian team with assistance from his buddies in BCCI like Vengsarkar, Pawar. Sachin is playing cricket for all the wrong reasons, scoring runs is not his priority but to use his position in the team to get ad contracts is his only priority.

The National EGG committee ad showing a kid crunching Sachin's hand is true, even kids can play better cricket than Sachin.

It's correct and now it's time to push him out of team. I don't know why selectors are using different scale for Saurav and Sachin. They don't have that much of dare to take action against Sachin as they took against Saurav. Dravid ! - Try to pull your shocks and please pave way for others to perform as player and as captain too.

Its better atleast sachin is scoring 37 16=53 runs in a test match compared to youngsters like Raina, Kaif, etc who score just 5 3=8 in a single test. Only in India people who have no talent whatsoever are jealous of people with real talent.Do you want India to win matches or do you want sachin/ganguly/dravid to be out of team. I think you are very kind of sachin/sourav. Just see the Australia team. All of them will retire when there are in good form. My opinion is it is better to pull out sachin and sourav as they has not played for the game. They only play for their records...

what do you mean by consitent?? If dravid is so consitent then why he is failing now, why he is not performing?
Instead of blaming sachin alone, try to blame entire team for this failure. There are instances where sachin as acaptain has scored 100 but ran out of partners at other ends to save the match. Look at the recods you will get the details
