Justice Banerjee, delivering the order on Dalmiya's application challenging his suspension, observed that clause V of Rule 38 (suspension of any office-bearer) of the BCCI had not been registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies of Registration Act.

Dalmiya's counsel, Satyabrata Mukherjee and Arindam Banerjee, had earlier submitted before the court that the BCCI, which is registered under the TNSRA, had amended Rule 38 in September 2000, but did not register the amendment as per the Societies Act.

The BCCI had later applied for registration with condonation of time, but the application hasn't been approved by the TNSRA yet.

Politicians - spoiling the game now...
by Saurabh Rastogi on Jul 20, 2007 04:08 PM

After minting money from all quarters and spreading virus of corruption to all possible parts of administration and policy making departments, politicians are now eyeing to sports. It is a well known fact that under Mr Pawar, cricket is no more what it used to be earlier. Now, we have telecast rows, half of the country not being able to watch Neo Plus etc, crickets are handled badly, no coach at all and many more such incidents. I hope Mr Dalmiya is back at helm soon and bring up cricket to where it was earlier.

I think Dalmia is a better administrator than this joker Pawar.
Dalmia should slap him a tamacha so that Pawar zig-jag face may look better.
All the best Mr. Dalmia.

I agree, in hindsight, Dalmiya camp seems like it was much better than the current one.
They appointed a good foreign coach in John Wright and cricket used to be in the news more often than other issues.

by Harsh Vaghjiani on Jul 20, 2007 02:50 PM

Dalmiiya is a pure businessman & by no means a joker. Look at the marketing he has done & popularity he has brought to the game. why else would you see a Hutch & Herohonda ad in Westindies !!!!

I think he at least a better ambassador of the game - than this politicians !!!!!

Rise of Dalmiya !!!!!!
by Harsh Vaghjiani on Jul 20, 2007 02:20 PM

Look at him go now - Step by Step - he will & definately should be in the BCCI - million times beter than politicians. Dalimya - at least - very arguably was the most influential person in bringing so much money to Cricket - in general.

So i would say - he is & probably will be better than this bunch !!!

This is a good news for cricket fans.........
by kashyap putra on Jul 20, 2007 02:15 PM

This is really a good news for all the cricket
fans of India.

I dont know the corruption level of any person
but I know very well that when Dalmiya was the
BCCI chief,-Indian cricket was growing excellent, and after the entry of Pawar etc etc.
Indian cricket is now less glamourous than any
game/sports.
So the judgement of the court will help the Indian Cricket but the power grp is very strong
and perhaps economically very powerfull
so no one knows the future of Indian Cricket.
However court has shown some sympathy to the
cricket lovers with the judgement.
