BCCI should merge into ICL if its so much threatened by its evolution. Still cannot understand why BCCI is so against ICL? Cant they compliment each other.

The reason they are threatened is because BCCI is not a govt body. Nor is it an official representation of the Indian Team. It is merely a society that has money to fund cricket, got contractual players and uses govt stadiums for an annual rent. Money makes organisations powerful and the lust for money makes them fear the ICL coz ICL has the money to run a parallel board.

My Vote is for Kapil Paaji, Anytime!

Kapil brought the world cup to India. BCCI reaped profits since then, but could not build another team that could win the world cup in the last 27 plus years.
Now, Kapil is trying to help India win another world cup, that has become a dream for many. The country will benefit from the talent pool created by the ICL. What is BCCI's problem? Is BCCI an enemy of our nation? I just don't understand their logic.
As for cricket grounds for ICL, I suggest all municipal corporations accross the country, that don't have any connection with BCCI, come up with offers to build cricket grounds for ICL matches. The cricket grounds will bring tourists to their towns and will help build their local economies.

Kapil Dev!! RESPECT!! RESPECT!!
by Indian Fan on Jul 20, 2007 04:15 AM

Regardless of what BCCI or any other Indian thinks, I am proud of Kapil Dev being an Indian Crickter. He is beyond a shadow of doubt one of the best crickters produced by India. And I have utmost respect for him as a cricketer and as a human being. I think he is the only Indian cricketer who had that unmatched Never-Say-Die-Attitude. Please note, I am not a North Indian infact I have never been to Chandigarh/Haryana/Punjab where ever Kapil belongs to.

If Kapil is not violating any of the terms and conditions in his NCA/BCCI employment contract than he should file a case against BCCI in Supreme Court and I pray to God that he wins the case and slaps BCCI in the face.

Stupid BCCI
by SAIANAND SRINIVASAN on Jul 20, 2007 03:59 AM

How stupid these guys are being? Kapil has already said that they can sack him and that he will not quit as the position offered to him was honarary.

These guys keep repeating that Kapil needs to take a stance. In fact, now the BCCI needs to take a stance. Keep Kapil or sack Kapil.

Let Sharad Pawar select either of BCCI or Agri-Ministry first
by Rajkumar Singh on Jul 20, 2007 03:22 AM  | Hide replies

Both BCCI and Ministry of agriculture are very important positions! Later deserves more than 100% devotion from the incumbent. Why that rascal is occupying both the positions as presidemt and minister to pocket crores of money! Let him show his power to Sonia for whose cause he left congress but licking her feet and .... today!

BCCI Vs. Kapil Dev
by Emperor Ashoka on Jul 19, 2007 02:22 PM  | Hide replies

One is amused by BCCI's letters and verbal talks in media asking Kapil Dev to choose between NCA and ICL.

BCCI is supposed to be a professional organization and should have issued a letter of appointment to Kapil Dev as Chairman of NCA. If the terms and conditions of his appointment clearly say that by accepting it he agrees not to take up any other position / assignment etc. then so be it and let them sack Kapil Dev quoting relevant condition number.

If they had failed (which is most probable because they are most unprofessional, haphazard, disorganised in their working) to put any such condition, they should shut up their mouth and watch Kapil Dev work for ICL silently.

Very well said. BCCI is making a mockery of itself by issuing these statements in public.

ICL vs BCCI
by Srikanth on Jul 19, 2007 10:34 AM  | Hide replies

Just wanted to say that Kapil rendered his services to India but not to any Board, we take our cricketers as playing for India but not figured as BCCI players, We request BCCI to stop nailing down ICL when we are going for a quality of cricket than any other.

We dont understand why cricket is been dragged into Politics. Can we have a Fair Play of Cricket to see India back into action.

I am also of the same opinion of Mr. Srikanth, Kapil can't be labelled as player / chairman / selector for the so called BCCI / NCA. He is the Indian player, he has played only for our Mother India and not for any league in fact he is our treasure and the whole of Indian should proud of his committment to the game his determination, dedication and the sacrifices he has made during the yester years for our Nation. So it his own will and wish that he can be in any position involving BCCI or the so called ICL or anything. Who is this Niranchan Shah to dictate? Does he have any record behind him, did he serve for the Country in any test / one-day games to win or to draw or any significant contribution in the past. So let him realize his limit.
He is nobody to say anything on Kapil, he is our National Hero.
Just people should recall and realize how much amount of sacrifices Kapil has made, just for an example, even during his entire cricketing tenure even he has just postponed his familiar duties and Mrs. Kapil could gave birth his lovable daughter only after his retirement, such is his committment to the Nation, to the game, after all who is this Shah to dictate. Let him do all kind of verbal things either with the present players or with the ICC, where he is unable to raise even a single word, wherein only the Australians are doing all kinds of things. If he wants let him direct and set-right the things and not with our Hero.

ICL vs BCCI
by HellBoy on Jul 19, 2007 09:21 AM

Obviously BCCI is viewing ICL as its competitor, Who is going to take da money is the crciket,BCCI is afraid that the revenue will be reduced if ICL comes in to picture.
Cricket in india reaps huge amount of money - i think both the leagues will increase the jobs for cricket players. About quality - i dont see there will be decrease in quality.
