murali the cunning
by roby on Jul 13, 2007 09:32 AM  | Hide replies

ha, the man always make himself available to play against the very minnows like bangladesh and zimbabway. This time he stopped county crickets and came to play 3 tests against bangla since he knows its gonna be a bonanza. and if i am right at least 150 of his wickets are against these two!! whereas Warne the true Wizard got max 15 wickets against them.

And that devil Dalmya, who devalued Test cricket for the sake of votes by giving bangla test status... Really, being an avid cricket watcher I feel pity for the legends like Warne, Hadlee, Kapil & Imran, who toiled hard for their wickets.

And Murali, with all his skills, even if technically he is not chucking, gets an unfair advantage with his bent action. because batsmen play the ball reading from the hand most times and his acton deceives them, unlike Kumble & Warne, who toils hard and outplays the batsmen in mind and pitch... true greats are they.

Murali & Dalmya, who killed the spirit of fair play in Cricket. Now because of Murali so many doubtful bowlers around...

Murali - Warne
by Master Comments on Jul 12, 2007 09:05 PM  | Hide replies

With due regard to Murali's 694 wickets, I should still say that Warne will remain as THE Spin Wizard. He is a sheer joy to watch when in full flow... probably he couldn't do well against India, so many of us may have missed his best bowling performances...but as a clean, non-controversial spinner, he overall scores more than Murali.

i agree totally. shane warne shall remain the best spinner ever! murali just spins while shane used to play with the batsman's mind. no comments on bowling action, but, shane was a better cricketer as a whole than what murali is. and murali hasnt had the privilege to be banged by sachin as what shane had, so murali is inexperienced on that count :P... or mebbe, sachin doesnt know how to tackle offspinners.
but, undoubtedly murali shall remain the best offspinner ever produced by cricket. but only one of the best spinners, NOT THE BEST!

TEST CRICKET

from Sylhet, Bangladesh.
Bangladesh is a new team in the Test sector. Test Cricket is the real %u2018test%u2019 of patience. Though the said patience is due to be exercised by the players, the modern day cricketing environment suggests that 'patience' should be exercised by all - cricket administrators, umpires, audience, critics, listeners and above all the media. But we notice a sharp decline in this respect. Particularly in the Indian sub-continent, cricket has become a commodity. Cricket administrators, players , media - all are involved in the process. The audience of the sub-continent have failed to upgrade themselves. This can be reflected from the presence of people in the stadium during Test matches. The ODIs draw thousands of spectators who enjoy one fourth of the game - batting of the home side. Is this cricket ? No, this can be called 'bricket' which means 'BUSINESS CRICKET'. Indian media and audience are found to be critical of teams like Bangladesh. But they should remember that it is a new team. Time will determine its future. The country earned Test Status in 2000. Now it is 2007. Could India play similar cricket in 1939 (1932 7). Even after 41 years of Test cricket, India was all out for 42 in their 1973 England tour. The radio commentary is still fresh in my mind. After 64 years, they were all out for 65 against SA in 1996.There are many other instances. What was Sri Lanka in the 80's? They took 15 years to mature - 1981 to 1996. Bangladesh should

The above article was regarding the respect that B'desh cricket team shoud be given or was it India bashing? Ricky Ponting had mentioned something about not allowing 'minnows' like B'desh, Zimbabwe to play in the world cup(please understand, it is not my view). He is not an Indian,I can assure you.You talk about the India and Indian media,do you think all over the cricketing world, everyone speaks very highly of B'desh cricket and it is only the Indian media and Indians who speak poorly of B'desh? I remember Imran Khan laughing in an interview when asked about rumours of his coaching B'desh.Belive me,it did not appear that Imran 'bhai' had a high opinion of your team. But no, you will never mention that.England started palying earlier than India, what about England receving 5-0 drubbing consecutively at the hands of the WI in the 80s? same happenend to Australia.what about the WI winning only 4-5 test matches in the entire 90s? Australia and WI started before India. What about Pakistan never making it to any WC final and losing with their pants down to India in every WC encounter? No, your mind can only think of India. If given a choice, what will make you more happy, the B'desh cricket team winning 1 test each against all test playing nations and winning 3 against India and losing all other matches, you'll prefer victory against India.Learn to outgrow your inferiority complex man!!

In Bangladesh there are millions of supporters of Indian cricket team but this support is provided only when India plays against any other country other than Bangladesh. This is natural. Bangladeshis don't suffer from inferiority complex. It is the Indians who suffer most in some cases. Rajinder Goel, the left arm spinner from the North, Surinder Khanna, the wicketkeeper from the North, Gopal Bose, the opening batsman from Bengal, Pranab Roy also from Bengal, Ramesh Saxena from Bihar could not makee their place in the team mainly because of the complex pertaining to regionalism projected by Mumbai-Bangalore syndicate. Do you disagree? Gopal Bose, the talented opening batsman was not attempted even for a single Test match in 1973-74 England tour. Reports were in the air that one established opening batsman of India from Mumbai wants that his opening partner should be from Maharastra. Players like Sudhir Naik were tried in the process. Later, Anshuman Gaekwad, the middle order batsman was made to play in the openin slot because of the adamant attitude of another player. Isn't it inferiority complex?

Mr. Panday, you are wrong. Bangladesh has been playing cricket for more than 200 years. If India has ben playing for thousands of years, why can't the team compete well with Pakistan, a country only 60 years old. You called 'Bengali players'. There is no 'Bengali player' in our team. They are Bangladeshi players. In India you distinguish between Bengalees , Tamils, Marathis, Biharis, Kashmiris, Hindus, Christians and Muslims. This is India's weakness. Your remark suggests how regionalism is damaging the national structure. And Bengalees? They have great role not only in Bangladesh but also in India and the West. Have you heard of Rabindranath Tagore, Amartya Sen, Satyajit Ray, Rabi Shanker and others?

The naturally bent arm definitely gives murali the advantage, though we shud appreciate his line and length. He has probably taken 1/7th of his test wickets against B'desh. So I dont consider him the greatest spin bowler.

That same naturally bent arm gave him so much controversy, criticism, discredit. And even if you remove those 1/10th of wickets (not 1/7th, it is 70 out of 694 including this match), he still has close to 630 wickets in 104 matches. Ok, let us remove zimbabwe from the picture too. 87 from 14. It gives us 543 from 90 which is what, 6 wickets per test against top sides in the world... consider this, he has played 40 of those 90 tests against India, Pak and Aus - traditionally better players of spin bowling. And also, Bangladeshi players are not too bad against spin. Give some credit when it is due Amit. But it is not his numbers alone, he has a wide range of deliveries that can destroy a batsman's morale. Commentators gave fancy names like slider, zooter, wrong 'un, flipper etc to Shane's deliveries but I am sure Murali has more of them in him.

Abs Correct Vikas.Good stats as well. Also considering the time he lost due to those uncalled controversial non-playing period. Look at the commitment and the desire to keep going... look at his fielding(at least the attempt) at this age.... These ppl will b always ready to criticize, i dont know what they(critics) do in life, but i m sure they(critics) wont reach even 1% of the level of achievement of the ppl they cricitize. Losers !!!! Go Murli Go. Go Sachin Go. Go Rahul Go.

you are right vikas, but it's also true that he has an extraordinary advantage which shane never had- one can easily make out the chuck when he delivers the ball.
we can give him credit for --that he is of course the greatest amongst chuckers like harbhajan, lee, shoaib. He has been no balled several time, becaus of his un orthodex style but because he can deliver dusra by turning the arm with wider angle- which is simply impossible by any medical science, and this gives him a plus.
Why no one try to imitate murali, harbhajan or shoaib is because they developed this habit. it was a wrong habit not a a technique.
everyone follows shane as ideal leg spinner though as a human being, he may be worse- but warne is warne brother- he has flippers, wide angle, twist ,google, flight checks, rotation without spin, and so many varieties agianst murali's off and dusra

Dear Murli is the best.
Simple reasoning is just compare his records against India/Pakistan(supposed to be best batsamn against spin bowling) with Shane warne.
He always troubled all batsman including great Sachin but see the pathetic record of shane warne against India. Warne record was good only against team like england/South africa/Newzeland etc not considerd to be best against spin bowling .
So no compariosn between Murli & Shane warne.
U people have infertity complex with Australia & thats why warne got so much hype though he is not even comparable to Murli.
