I think it is better for india if dhoni doesnt play in test matches. He cant play on lively seam pitches. In one days he comes in final overs and can manage things. But in tests situations, batsman have to face fine quality seam bowling for many overs. I always beleive batsman who scores high in test matches has very good techniqu rather than one day cricket.Thats the reason dravid is regarded as fine technical batsman in present cricket world.

do you know Dhoni's test match performances so far? you cannt make an early impression on anybody without giving them proper chance.

Dear Upadrasta, what Sandeep says is absolutely correct. Only in the sub-continental conditions where there is no swing, he can play free flowing strokes and his style of batting suites more in these conditions. In England when the conditions are more in favour of seam and swing, technique is more important and hence the team should play Karthik and importantly can have another seamer or a technically correct batsman..

by Upadrasta PardhaSaradhi on Jul 11, 2007 09:27 AM
Can I know who is that technically correct batsman?
Technique doesnt matter if you have a good hand-eye coordination and we have seen how well he adjusted to the bad pitch conditions against Bangaldesh.
Give him a fair chance. If 6 batsmen like Dinesh kaarthik, Ghambhir, Dravid, sachin, ganguly and lakshman cannot do the job, why are you expecting Dhoni to do the job?
Let people know thei role and responsibilities in the team and play accordingly. Dhoni's main job is wicket keeping and bat well if needed.

if kaarthik have to play, he should play as a opener. Imagine if Englad bats first and plays 2 days and do you expect kaarthik to come as an opener after fileding for 2 days and perfrom well?
I would see kaarthik as a specialist opener and Dhoni as a wicket keeper.
Let people know their role and responsibilities in the team and play accordingly. Dhoni's main job is wicket keeping and bat well if needed.

remember he made an instant impact on the Test level too, pounding 148 at Faisalabad against Pakistan, in only his fifth Test, when India were struggling to avoid the follow on, and established himself as one of the critical members of India.
Moreover he is a wicketkeeper batsman and his style of batting will help in the end of the innings if the top order can play well and we are waiting for some quick runs for declaration and ending the innings.
RE:Dhoni out, gambhir in
by Krishna Kumar on Jul 11, 2007 10:16 AM
Agreed Dhoni made 148 in Faisalabad. All sounds good in the sub continent pitches, but not in Engalnd pitches, just tell me one instance outside subcontinent where Dhoni performed well?
RE:Dhoni out, gambhir in
by Upadrasta PardhaSaradhi on Jul 11, 2007 10:33 AM
howmany matched he played outside sub-continent? he just played 17 test matches. Give him a fair chance and then criticise him.
you cannot excpect a player and score centuries and centuries on each match. Dhoni's main job is wicket keeping and bat well if needed. Let him concentrate on his main role in the team that is wicket keeping.

Yes, I completely agree with Sandeep. Drop Dhoni for the tests given the conditions there and his vulnerability to swing and pace bowling. Let Jaffer open with Gambhir followed by Dravid, Tendulkar, Laxman, Ganguli, Karthik, Kumble, Zaheer Khan, R.P.Singh and Sreesanth. This is the best XI according to me. What say.

Do you think Ghabhir can handle the moving swinging ball better than Dhoni? Why are you pusshing kaarthik who has a solid batting technique than ghambhir down the order?
For me, kaarthik is a better opener than Gambhir with his compact technique. Ghambhir always has the tendency pushing and probing outside the off stup. i also see a good temperement in kaarthik than in gambhir as gambhir chases the balls outside the off stump.

Perhaps they would do better things, writing posts like you and me sitting in the cozy cornerof the room or office, than sweating out in the middle.

practice matches were not played to win. They are played to make some practice and used to the playing conditions. in this way, India has used the conditions well and both batsman and bolwers came to form well. stop criticising for the sake of criticism.

I think RP Singh gave a better performance than Ranadeb Bose. I tried to follow Cricinfo commentary and I got the impression that Ranadeb Bose was not that much impressive.

Personal feeling doesnt count here. Kapil, prabhakar, srinath all in one team couldnt take 20 wkts this trio is not that impressive ....need bit help from batsman to get victorious in these condition.

wait a second here. i am not an expert in cricket. if sussex needs 250 to win the game, its the indian bowlers task to get them out below 250. how can the batsmen help ? Sometimes, the bowlers have to roll their sleeves and just do their jobs. cant depend on the batsmen and dhoni all the time :)

Judas, Indians are always susceptible against left hand seamers..that makes Sidebottom dangerous..also Harmison when he finds form, is deadly..Hoggard..well we have to wait and watch as he is not very consistent...As far as Indian pacers are concerned, your opinion is correct provided they keep up the line and length and do not experiment too much... also Dravid should use these seamers wisely..
Saw so many messages on this forum - have been reading them over last couple of years. I could understand (and agree) to all the frustration, all the anger, all the hopelessness. But one thing baffles me is the simplest of all questions: what would you do to change the way team India is playing nowadays?
They tried almost everything - BCCI changed coaches, coaches changed captains, captains changed players, players changed the overall outlook of the team, and the way they finally play on the field. I think everyone - from BCCI to the newest player on the field - have tried most of the political twist, but now have ran out of the options. My simple question to the die-hard fan forum community is this (am I repeating myself?): what would you do - assuming you had the full control - to change the way team India is playing, and to make them as, or more, consistent and powerful than Aussies?

I guess the australia like stratigy i.e. no mercy for bad performance even if the player is of sachins calibre. There should be a certain limit for your failure & then you are out. Should take care of players sentiments, their comfort & all emotion related stuff. This can help make them play at their best.& after few days we will get good game out of these guys. What Say?

You absulatly right.... But.. I listen and watch cricket since last 45 years, It's never change.... Indian cricket is like a KUTTE KI TEDI DUM...Woh kabhi sidhi nahi ho sakti..

all changes possible are done and no effect on the team India performance. But the change forgotten is about fans. change them to from the fans in BCCI office ( do they really use them, they are rich only AC rooms). so you can not change them. The one good alternative miracle supposed to be is gone for ever. Damn it.
what we are going to do now.
Change the fans some one on the earth change the fans. damn it do it urgently. do it !!!!
I mean fans not sachin fans nor the ganguli fans, Oh No not the dravid fans.
Just fans, I mean it man, change the damn Fans.
now you got it.
Now what?
where is electrician, god damn it why you need electrician to change the fan.
we got only engineers, just only engineers. They do software. You know what it means "software"? "soft to wear" not "safe wear"
They dont do the electrician work, the engineers study electronics but do the "soft wear"
Damn it, soft wear means not jeweelary where are you from
"planet mars".
damn it find a guy, urgent ,some one who can change the fans.
