Dear Friends, It is high time for Indian cricket to save it from Brahmin dominated sport to All Indian sport. You will find 7-8 players brahmin from 11 member team. Nobody has questioned entry of Agarkar in Indian squad but there is always hue and cry for players like Jahir, Munaf etc. It is happening because Gavskar is playing lot of behind game and that is the reason patriotic players like Kapil, More, Sandip Patil etc are fade up with BCCI monopoly. What is wrong if players like Kapil would like to contribute to Indian cricket through ICL? Just like in Aviation sector private players are allowed which benefited common people and their dream of travelling in an aeroplane is no longer a dream. On similar line the dream of Leader of World Cricket will not be dream if we will allow players like Kapil to serve Indian cricket through various ways. I dont think that Indian people would like to see one or two players performing for thier own sake rather than glorify whole nation. Those who would like to see India at forefront in Cricket will support Kapil, More, Sandip Patil etc...

Hi Prash,

Don't bring caste into everything. yes, I favor Kapil. But, not because of caster reasons, but for his love for the game.

Have a broad mind and think of one Indian and one Hindu. Let's not divide ourselves along petty lines. Caste is just another vote-bank tool for politians. Dont be fooled by it.

Dear Friend, I am not bringing any caste politics anywhere because I am not a selector but a spectator like you(I guess). Is it not the truth that the 11 member Indian Cricket team comprises 7-8 brahmin players? Is it not the truth that depending on your caste every ritual is conducted from birth to death? Why are you ignoring the existing facts that the Hindu is nothing but different caste people characterised as a one group but their way of leaving is totally different with each other and still it is socially treated as taboo if one wants to go for intercaste marrage. Is reporting truth is a caste politics? What I will get man by doing so? Kapil is the man who strengthen my patriotic feeling but looking at current affairs of team selection, it seems that caste factor dominates the selection through Brahmin players and managers like Gavskar, Vengsarkar, Shastri,Shukla etc.. and there is nothing patriotic feeling attached with the cricket now. I wish that the team India should be representated by all Indian people from different strata of the society not particular caste and lead the world of Cricket.

well i think that reason kapil is joining the league just like kiran more is for the huge mone coming with it its just common sense that a league that is not recognised by the board can't help the youngsters in getting selected by the board and making it to the team
as for kapil well history speaks for him first the matchfixing scandle then doing commentary for set max and now the league it just goes on and on and on
if he is that serious for the future of the youngsters then why have he ever coached a state ranji team or why has he never being to the national cricket acadmey or even MRF pace foundation
when irfan pathan's form got worse every bowler came in to help him except kapil so what does it show ?????????????????any guesses

It will be great to watch a 20-20 match for a couple of hours with friends and a beer.

International cricket for india is way too tough and dont have enough players to compete...

problem
by KC on Jul 10, 2007 05:36 AM  | Hide replies

if you read carefully the int. of both Kapil and before it of More (around one month back)...they have rasied one point in common...that they are not bothered about pension from BCCI ... and are not supporting ICL for money...but for talent...

If that is the case why in their tenure as NCA chairman and chairman of selectors respecively we did not find many talents ???

if they are not doing it for money then let them disclose the money they are being offered and give all the money for desrving forgotten cricketrs who did not have as distnguished career as them and need money badly.
BCCI is at least of all evils , paying the pension to these people.

ICL is nothing but will harm the cricket more than helping it............

if their intensions are right why they are asking cricketers from outside India to play ??? it will stop as many palces for young cricketers ? isn't it...

Lets see how many young talents ICL can produce or they will also go for big names. till now hey have gone for big names only raising big question mark on their intensions

It may be recalled that the BCCI president had quoted that he is unable to dedicate enough time for BCCI activities. What is wrong if some pro-active sponsors are looking for talents? Readers may recall that a world-class tennis player like Steffi Graf used to practice tennis against men (not women). This gave her a greater boost and greater stamina and thus resulted in her producing better performances. There is absolutely no harm when foreign players are brought into the Indian Arena in order to nurture and uplift the local talent. By and large, Indian mass say that "Look at Ricky Ponting, Adam Gilchrist, Shane Warne, Muralitharana, Brian Lara and how they are performing. Our people are only paper-tigers". When it comes to roping in outside India players, then other bench-marks are taken. Consistency is very important, in this present world.

Agree with you fully. When the game is getting developed, then why should these people be bothered about who is on whose side. The BCCI fears that ICL may become a strong rival in a few years. Then BCCI will loose its revenue and all these who control will loose a lot. If the BCCI president(Pawar) is not able to dedicate his time for the game, then who is stopping him from resigning and pave the way for some one else who has the committment and time...????. He will not do that. Power beckons Pawar. He is not an idiot to loose that. What ever he talks is all humbuck.

Power beckons Pawar. So very true. Will become ICC president in 2010 and will continue to witch-hunt former ICC president (name very well known to masses).

BCCI vs ICL

Will you ever be allowed to have two jobs - one with Coke and one with Pepsico at the same time? It is reasonable for BCCI to ask Kapil to make a choice and Kapil should not be upset about it.

What about the president of the BCCI? Is he not a Federal Minister as well? Why not this benchmark of not having two jobs at the same time be applicable to him??? What about the other BCCI members? Are they not having two jobs as well???

Your comparison with Sharad Pawar is absurd and reveals a complete lack of awareness on your part. In no way at all does Sharad Pawar's role create a conflct of interest situation between his two roles, but Kapil Dev cannot be with both the BCCI and the ICL at the same time as ICL is a direct competitor to BCCI - thought that would be obvious to one and all !

Having two jobs is one thing, but having two jobs with two directly competing companies creates conflict of interest - at least in the corporate world.

Ganguly should go to ICL
by AV on Jul 10, 2007 05:12 AM  | Hide replies

He will be better off playing with people gone past the "use by date" e.g. McGrath, Warne, Lara etc. He can also provide entertainment by dropping catches, diving a minute after ball goes past him and jumping like a frog at every short pitch ball.

Stale Rasagulla !!

Dravid is the BEST captain, player, person, father , son, husband, citizen ...... India ever had and Ganguly just the opposite. Now all South Indians take two pegs sambhar punched with rasam with a dash of coconut oil and banana chips & dance with your lungies on. ENJOY !!!

Take 2 Pay Cheques Kapil!!!
by ame ame on Jul 10, 2007 04:54 AM

You're old and at this age you need 2 pay cheques. Also you're in India, no one can do anything to you. If ever BCCI sack you..go to supreme court. That case will be running untill you die this way you can receive extra pay cheque. And later after your death "your son can claim in supreme court, that you died because of BCCI's job frustration"
Good Luck.
