Sachin, Saurav Legends of cricket, but now time to retire.
by jeevan on Jul 06, 2007 11:34 AM  | Hide replies

Sachin should retire now, as he can evoke the question of why now? instead of why not? He deserves a hearty farewell and now is the time. IT also enables somebody to groomed for the 2011 WC.

Mohan kumar, this is a forum for crickterer's fans and i dont see any rules which says that we need to talk only related to the article. Just because u managed to crab some words in english dont vomit here. If Sachin retires, I will be happy to see a champion going out with pride and hopefully welcome another one in the making. I think as a a fan I can say that. I WONT SHUT MY MOUTH AND WATCH GAME. Sorry..

What kind of crap are you writing jeevan? Remember, India won because of Sachin and some AH said he cannot play short deliveries anymore and I still remember Andrew Caddick, also saying the same thing and instead had to see his bouncer go out of durban. This time around Andre Nel and Ntini. Sachin retires......then we all can kiss a$$ and say Bolo swatantra bharath ki Jai........as we will be good for kabaddi only then.....And more over how stupid are you to say that Sachin should retire after coming back from man of the series award, not against bangladesh but against SA. The crap thing abt people like you is that they talk of great people in the making and all we see is nothing in the bench for India. Manoj Tiwary may be a Gibbs look alike while batting what happened when sent to Bang, he dived and broke his shoulder. Basic fitness is also not there. Anyhoo no point in talking this crap with someone who does not even understand cricket....

Ashraful and srilankans played well.

But those people who praising Sangakkara for his double hundred... how good it is? isn't it came from Minnows? If sachin hit century u people say, he hit century only against minnows... why Indians cant accept fellow Indian players as other country players?

Hi Godi godi,
The concept which you are trying to push has no base.
You need to understand that there is no one who will not work for money and I dont see anything wrong. It will unnatural to expect philanthropists only in Indian cricket. Do you think Sangakkara plays for free?
Why dont you ask Sharukh Khan and Amitabh to act for country and not for money or ask Anil Ambani to work for reliance without taking any share on revenues? In what way cricketers are different? They are not Indian Army. For that matter with all due respect to Army, I need to say that even Army doesnt work without remuneration.
Why dont you stop taking money and work for your company and for country?
You have some bias and try to convince yourself instead of answering me and others.

I couldnt stop my finger.... to type of course.... those who talk to sachin and sourav making century against minnows... to answer it... neither of the two didnt made century against minnows, bangladesh in world cup and was the main reason why india was out of world cup. If sourav would not have made century against kenya india would have had the same fate in 2003 WC too, india was struggling at 113/4after 26 overs chasing 256..... now say..... anyone to criticise,,, welcome... i am there to answer

Hi Raja,
Good reply, but u forgot that these guys also get huge sums of money, whether they score or fail, not to mention the money from Ad modeling.SO money shd not be a problem for them, they shd worry only abt playing for the country and not for individual records.Considering ur logic, do u mean to say that they dint play well in the world cup because they were not paid that month??
I am not a critic, but a concerned fan of our cricket team.

Can anyone here define what does 'playing for country without playing for individual records' mean!!! If these guys hit a century OR take bunch of wickets it obviously gets recorded in their name, cant help it. There is no provision for giving away runs u score OR wickets you take in charity to some bullshit-head-people who themselves were never good enough. If somebody plays slow then it might as well be the need of the hour, you & I who are not there in the middle cannot comment on that with 100% correctness.

So if you are a True Fan of Cricket & Indian Cricket Team, then ENJOY the Game & TRUST the Team.

Hi Bari,
Thanks for your response.
My point is that the world is not different just for cricket. We cant say some professionals on how they must spend their money and do their profession.
A software engineer while being paid heavily by the organization, still thinks of how his current assignment adds to his career so he can update his CV.
Similarly a movie actor while getting heavily paid still thinks about how good that role be to make him a future star.
In this way, everyone while doing their profession are also careful about their career aspitations and whatever they do beyond that depend on their comfort levels.
Now, asking someone to do for country because they are earning huge moeny is also a debatable point. Can Mukhesh Ambani say he already earned a lot and hence stop business? I can say that for him. But he my have a different goal. Till he feels, he will continue the business. All these people do lot of charity anyway.
My summary is that if Sachin and Saurav are playing for themselves the party that need to worry the most is their employer - BCCI and selectors. As long as they do not have problems, they will continue.
While we criticize the players for being selfish we also criticize the people based on statistics which remain as reference of career at the end.
For example,We may not remember that Kumble sacrificed by bowling with head injury against Australia after a while. But it will be in the history that he took 5 wickets in that match. Numbers matte

You think no one play for records only Sachin and sourav play for records? If Lara dont play for records then why does he declared on 400 notout even time is not for the bowlers to get england wickets.. and result is test is drawn.

If sachin score 100 is it doen't add in Indian score or what?
To win a game bowlers also the same contribution as batsmen.. that u people dont accept.. India win.. praise batsmen who hit 50 or 100 and forget who take 5 or 6 wickets.. if india lose criticize batsmen even scored 100 even bowler given 0/70 odd runs..

This kind of mind frame cannot be changed from Average Indian who thinks they r cricket fan and they love Indian team.

captain's knock
by vinoth yoganathan on Jul 05, 2007 06:44 PM

At last asharful proved everyone what a promising batsman he is for bang, the way he attacked the sri bowlers showed one that he cannot be intimated by great bowlers like nurali and vaas.i like the way he played his innings by dominatng because their no use of blocking the balls all day lomg.fortunately he got a partner in the form of rahim.this isa very good knock by rahim.he is a very promising youngester with lot of potenital.i want to play up the order.the way former captain bashar got out is worrying sign for him.as a senior pro should have played much better than he played in his series so for.if he fails in the next test match it would better for the bang selectors to go for a youngester to fill his shoes.how can i go without praising sanga for his wonderful double century .he was under little bit pressure to score runs coming inti this test match.he sileniced his critics with his knock.as usual vass proved what experience can make a difference in the highest level.he is deadly with his inswingers.

your message proves that ganguly is a character in Indian cricket.Even if he is not playing for his country or even when two other countries are playing then someone or the other has to comment on him.By the way I didnt get whether your anger is on Ganguly or the Bengalis.
