Sardessai's demise
by Parag Hede on Jul 03, 2007 06:38 PM

Sardessai belonged to the era when everyone longed to play for his country. It was considered a prestige for anyone to represent the nation in any discipline atleast one in his life time.Today we have cricketers who are more concerned about their paypackets and endorsements and to top it all there are those who are there only because of their godfathers.

It is a sad news. Dilip Sardesai was one of the most underrated cricketers. I had the privilege of watching him play. I could never understand how the selectors could overlook a batsman of his calibre, and that too at a time when a lot of Toms, Dicks and Harrys were blessed with the Indian cap. My hearty condolences to his family. May his soul rest in peace.
