How can Sachin become MOS? Dravid besides captain who won the series for India, has scored more runs than Sachin.Ganguly who played 3 games aginst Sachin's 4, just scored 12 runs less.Well he can be MOM but not certainly MOS.Its baised decession.Thes 100 runs he scored was on batting friendly flat wicket and that too after Ganguly had made things easy by his brilliant opening knock.had he scored these runs in SA, then we can tell that he is still the best.

Its good to see that Tendulkar hit a 100. Nice game nothing to take away. If he knows his game and he bats as he wants why is he not playing an individual sport like Tennis. You are a good batsman but you are not the best. If quantity alone matters then you are god. But the quality also matters. With cricket statistics available everybody has scored around the world not only you, but have you consistently contributed for a win like Shane warne, lara or dhoni (these days). in the final overs he hit around cross batted strokes and scored runs, that anybody can do in a good wicket. How can you accept the player of the series after a 0 in the 2nd match. Insult. Dravid scored more than you. Saurav and others set the game on fire in the first match that set the tone, even after a loss, saurav came back and scored and again we won. You are not the best. There are others better or equal to you.

sachin will make big score if he needs not team neads
if he got a hundred india lost the match for more times
we need his cracking 50 from 30balls
or 60 from 50 balls thats ok
but he is going to make a century after 80 he will be a bullock cart one one one is run
if sourav is coming to 80 to 100 there will be no gap he take time to settle that for the team needs but never wait for the 100, 100 is his personel thing, he will go for big hitting after 100 also bu u can see sachin had done just 100 more than 5 times. that is for his market value didnot decrease

If Rahul Dravid makes 50 off 75 balls we call it as a selfless performance. If Sachin makes 50 of 60 balls he is selfish. If Saurav makes 194 against Kenya it is still a great performance. If you ask me, I will say all performed well. Why Saurav should score less against Kenya? Similarly why Sachin must always score 50 of 30? All these players are great and they play as per their strengths. Let us not criticise any of them based on results. Matches are won by team not by individuals.

Allrounder

Besides being the flagbearer of the Indian dream, Sachin is a loving husband, father, and one of the biggest brands in the country.

Consensus is that Sir Donald Bradman was the best batsman ever to play Cricket. Sir Don did not play one-day Cricket but if he did, he could easily be Sachin Tendulkar.

Moin Khan plays for a leg-cutter. But to his horror, Tendulkar's delivery -- the last of the day -- does not turn and goes through his legs onto the stumps.

" You take Don Bradman away and he is next up I reckon "
Steve Waugh

Here are a few things in the realms of fantasy but which could well become a reality in the years to come:
1. Tendulkar will be the first Indian sportsperson to be granted Bharat Ratna.
2. The Reserve Bank of India will mint a special 100-rupee coin with Tendulkar's face on one side. The figure 100 a symbolic tribute to the master.
3. A stamp and a first day cover featuring Tendulkar will be among the many honours that will come his way on his retirement.
4. Cricket's showpiece stadium, the Eden Gardens, will be renamed after Tendulkar.
5. The great venue in Kolkata will also play host to Tendulkar's benefit. The over 100,000 people at the watch will be a new record for any benefit anywhere in the world.
6. Cricket's World Cup will have a permanent trophy. It will be named after Tendulkar - statistically the greatest player ever in the abridged version of the game.
7. An ageing MF Husain will pay tribute to Tendulkar by publicly painting a picture. It will show Tendulkar wrapped in the Indian tricolour galloping with horses, with Tendulkar ahead of the horses!
8. Tendulkar will be made chairman of the selection committee despite the presence of several seniors in the committee.
9. After serving as selector, Tendulkar will become the BCCI president - elected unopposed after nation-wide clamour by the players.
10. Bandra, the place where the hero spent all his life, will be renamed Sachin Tendulkar Nagar.
12. The Sahitya Sahawas building where Tendulkar grew up will be deemed a heritage building by the Archaeological department. And the house where he lived till recently will be thrown open to visitors one day in a year - on his birthday.
13. The MRF-Sachin Tendulkar Cricket Foundation will be the Mecca for young hopefuls all over the world with some of the best names in the game as coaches.
14. Tendulkar will enter the Guinness Book of World Records for being the subject of more books than any other cricketer in the world.
15. A Sachin Tendulkar Museum will be established in Mumbai which will become one of the great tourist attractions.
16. By the time he retires, Tendulkar would have moved into a fortress of a house that will find tourists flocking to get a darshan of the demi-God.
17. Political parties will make a beeline to have him in their party, but Tendulkar will stay clear. Tendulkar, however, will take up the post of Sheriff of Mumbai.
18. April 24, Tendulkar's birthday, will be declared as Ekta Din. A day when all differences - political, linguistic, religious etc - are set aside to foster national pride. That is what Tendulkar was able to achieve when he was at the crease and that is what the day aims to achieve in his honour.
19. Tendulkar will net more income from endorsements and other promotional activities in retirement than the highest paid active Indian sportsperson.
20. India will have its own Mt Rushmore in the hills of Lonavala. In a fantastic tribute to two of the greatest sons of the soil, the Maharashtra state government will commission a top sculptor of the day to etch the faces of Tendulkar and Gavaskar carved on the rocks. The 80-foot sculpture will give a spectacular look for travellers on the Mumbai-Pune Highway amid the sheer drop of the Western Ghats.

I agree with you.But it seems that BCCI thinks that Sachin is the great player and others are all fools.Gavaskars,Shastris,Pawars and Sandip Patils think that Sachin is always good even if he fails to deliver. And if other fails to deliver once a while, then they were asked to be dropped by the same guys.

Sachin...a hero!
by on Feb 01, 2007 06:09 PM

The comments that I have read time and again criticizing Sachin epitomizes the stereotypical Indian cricket supporter, 'a cat on a hot tin roof'.I don't think we as a nation realize exactly how much sachin has done for us. True he may not be at his 'peak' but let me point out to you that it was not until his 79th match that he hit his first 100, and when he scored those 'two' hundreds against Australia in 1998 his average was only 42, which is still below today. Why is that? And today's century was the 3rd fastest overall in terms of strike-rate by him. Okay, those of you that don't like statistics - let me paint you a picture do Aussies ever cringe or critisize their players as much as Indians do? True they don't put them on a pedestal as we do but I know as I live in Australia - there is respect for them. And so Tendulkar first and formost deserves that. Why are some interested in the amount of money he earns - some very rudely remark that he only plays for money these days - clearly if I may put it that person has no concept of anything - To put things in perspective the Aussies earn more on salary, Tennis stars, NBA, Baseball - all those sportsmen earn millions more - so why are we complaining? To me everytime Sachin walks to bat it is his sincerity, his modesty, humbleness and sheer dignity in spite of criticism that I admire and I hope that once and for all we accept he is special and we appreciate his phenomenal cricketing prowess...

You don't know...
by samuel kumar on Feb 01, 2007 05:24 PM

Common my Indian brothers, it's a trick played by BCCI to attract the viewers by keeping sewag, sachin in the team. MNCs know that Indians are emotinaly sick and we are addicted to watch same guys playing for many years. They don't bother whther India wins or not as long as they promote their product. If players are not performing then BCCI should go for youngsters(Sure that 'n' number of cricketers in India yearnig for a chance to prove but unfortunately they don't have enough support just like our hockey team) and should not go back for old guys like ganguly(It's a bad example).

Time has come for Sachin to hang his boots. There is no point in comparing with other players about the record in other countries. Offcourse he is a good player but not great since many players could score like this if they are given this many chances. Take the example of Australia, great players like steve waugh, bevan are shown the way. The number of cricket players in India outnumbered the total population of Australia where they excel in Cricket, Hockey, Rugby, Athletics & also football now.

sachin today
by Chandrasekhar R on Feb 01, 2007 03:31 PM

I read in the papers the other day that over the last year in the same number of games Sachin has scored more runs than Ponting and Dravid. Statistics never really give you the right picture. Youngsters today may have forgotten his exploits in his early years. All this talk about him scoring runs only on good wickets is rubbish. Critics and former greats still rank his hundreds in Perth(Considered the fastest wicket) and his partnership with Azhar in Capetown when India were 50 odd for five when he scored a century as one of the best exhibitions of batting in Post war cricket. Along with Dravid he has equally well abroad as in India. For you guys go thru the stats before crucifying him. Sachin may mot be the same sachin of old but he still rocks. His fellow cricketers think so. Let us respect their opinions. Lara recently said he would want his son to emulate Sachin and not himself. You dont earn that praise for just being a good guy. He is the greatest batsman India has produced and will remain so even if he doesn't score another run.

sachin does not know his game for sure..why was he so wobbly till now..he has earned a brief respite becasue of the 100, which was again peppered with some mis-shots and lucky second chances...but we as cricket loving indians should give a thought about the state of our cricket today..how many of our promising crickeers are languiisging in the lower leagues becasue of the selector's apathy...when will they get their chance..why will a bad perfoming batsman, who was good in the past, with a board backing keep on representing the tricolor? we pay these cricketrs..its becasue of viewers like us that BCCI is able to sell TV rights for such rates..its becasue of consumers like us that these stars get millions fr endorsements..its a shame!

No need to get emotional
by Prashanth Reddy on Feb 01, 2007 03:10 PM

Sachin didn't need to get emotional and say what all he had to say. He sh not react to everyone's comments abt him. Instead he sh choose his bat to speak for him. We all know that hez been out of form, n not scoring runs as expected, otherwise why would somone who was ranked No. 1 (and sometimes No.2) in the ICC batsmen ranking doesn't even show up in the top 20? Why does he score a Test Century once in every 2 yrs. So, there is a problem, but who does not....life has ups n downs, we (and he) sh accept that n try to reply in emphatic fashion, n not get hurt.
