Sehwag or Uthappa, whoever is in form should open with Ganguly during the WC. Sachin has this tendency of decelerating the momentum. So Ganguly is a better option. Sehwag even when in really bad form, never plays for himself. Does not waste many balls. If he can tone his body a little bit and pick up the confidence, he is a Match-winner. Sachin should bat at 5 or 6 below Dravid and Yuveraj [assuming he regains match fitness]. The slower wickets and slower bowlers manace can be countered by the Yuve, Sachin or Yuvi, Dhoni or Sachin, Dhoni pairs. Raina should wait for his time. Right now he is a burden for the team because the same problem that plagues Kaif is haunting him. Even when a batsman at the other end is on song, he can't rotate strike and is too pre-occupied with scoring a 30 or 40 to preserve his place. Why Sehwag merits respect here is he is one player who has never put his personal records ahead of Team. He is an entertainer and Match-winner if handled properly. Pathan should be given the support he deserves because, today he is our biggest Match-winner when in rhythm. Ajith Agarkar should never be dropped from ODI team, if he is fit. We have seen what he is capable twice in this series. Only prejudice and blind hatred towards the Mumbaikar are on display, even when he is playing beautifully. Zaheer Khan is our best bowler and is the most important factor, who can decide how far India go at the WC. Ramesh Powar is my first choice spinner. Though stocky, he is a better fielder than Bhajji and Kumble. He has aa attitude that can't be ignored. So my 11 will be 1] Saurav Ganguly 2] Virendar Sehwag / Robin Uthappa 3] Robin Uthappa / Virendar Sehwag 4] Rahul Dravid [C] 5] Yuveraj Singh 6] Sachin Tendulkar 7] M. S. Dhoni [WK] 8] Irfan Pathan 9] Ajith Agarkar 10] Ramesh Powar 11] Zaheer Khan 12] Gautham Gambhir [Good fielder too] 13] Dinesh Karthick [Best replacement at top] 14] Harbhajan Singh [We have no alternative] 15] Joginder Sharma [Slow Bowlers do well in WI] 16] S. Sreesanth [His attitude chose him] Good Luck India. But whoever the Selectors choose, I will support India, because I don't care for any one individual. I simply want India to win the World Cup.
Whatever the team is ok. But for pitches in West Indies does not hitters, players should have patience, so my suggestion is that either Laxman or Kaif should be picked for playing eleven. We saw last season, kaif was struggled all the places but never in WI series he scored 3 half centuries out of 5 matches. Player should read the pitch and play according to that as like as what Kaarthick did in cuttack

No Sehwag please...he is a failure at the top...and where is Sreesanth...he is India's future...watch out for him in world cup..he will do a Nehra (the match against England - 6/23)- from Anirban Biswas

whats raina doing in the team instead of kaarthick???????
Sachin must open with Ganguly. That was the greatest opening pair for india. People forget those achievements when a new comer hits few shots. The same happened with Sehwag. He replaced either Ganguly or Sachin. That caused Ganguly to move down the order and eventually lose his place. The same is now caused to Sachin. He came back from injury ..opened and played well. Now he has been moved down to accomodate Ganguly/Gambir/Utthappa. This has caused him to play differently now and thats why he is unable to meet the expectations of the people. If Sachin or Ganguly have to be in Team India for long .. they have to open. If not they will score less and eventually lose their place. The same can happen to anybody ... (Sehwag was tried in the middle order .. opened again ..failed .. out of the team) So my strong suggestion is that, Everybody in the team must have a fixed slot atleast for 10 games continuously. Incase if one is out of the team, a new member must just take his slot.

hey ur team is good but for one change I guess, I would remove Agarkar and add sreesanth. I feel with some experience for this young lad will be good in world cup. He has a good attitude which most other fast bowlers lack in India.

Hi Pavan,
Yours is a dream team and a strong one on papers... but lets get to terms with fact that team India lacks the confidence it had in the past world cup and no matter what the team would be, we don't have any chance at this years world cup... it would be a great surpise if India reaches semi-final this time... The Dravid-Chappel combo has finished the enthu of new and young players and we surely miss the leadership of Ganguly who encouraged individuals to show their talent and utilised them to the fullest for team results...

i very much agree with mehul bhai......chappel and dravid have gone all wrong.....INDIA is gonna be thrashed.....and thrashed bad.....we dont have the spunk, the confidence and the cockiness which propelled india in the 2003 world cup final against australia.....

what great spunk did we have in 2003 world cup..we fared really bad b4 it in the new zealand tour with only sehwag scoring runs in the whole series, who ultimately scored very little in the wc.we lost the 2nd match with australia shamefully and all indians were after their heads! luckily sachin had a dream of a wc n bailed us out! and we got the tempo going then..so jus be positive n hope somehow players click at the right times and deliver and get some tempo going! all the best to the team!
