Robin in WC
by chrsvd pavan kumar on Jan 30, 2007 11:37 AM  | Hide replies

He has done a nice job. Mind you, all the shots he played were complete cricketing shots and not the cross batted blasting. N hence this promising lad may also be included in the WC team. He is an opening batsman n should be kept in that slot. Yes, he may not be as good in every outing, but for that matter no one was in the same state of batting including Sachin, Sehwag, Sourav, Dhoni, or even the gr8 stroke makers like Kapil and Sandeep Patil. He is now on his devastating form and we fondly hope that this form lasts at least till world cup. These type of innings win matches.
Also, he is just a budding cricketer, so lets not hype him and make a "god" out of him and pressurise him - which is the case with Sachin, Sehwag - and these pressures may take toll on his batting.

IF so why india didn't win the match? To win match, team performance is important. Why india don't learn this. I am not against Robin. I am proud of him as he from my state :). Wish you all the best robin and do well in next match.

indians will play here, and outside we all saw how well they handle. people are telling sachin is great, but he was. instead of winning last test he made us lose with his sheeer mentality with dravid alongside. mental stature is important here, and sachin lost it for sometime. ponting or gilchrist are not greats, but they are always positive, which is why they are playig well. we dont bother if sachin is gone for ten, but the way he plays.. n playing is nothing but PURE SHIT..

Robin should stay away from media and concentrate on game
by Suman Bhat on Jan 30, 2007 10:26 AM  | Hide replies

media biased. robin should take one game at a time and try to improve the performance. Anil kumble is best examaple that hard work and performance( not media hype) counts at the end of match. Kumble is not illtreated by bcci, never media favourite. But he is highest wkt taker in both forms of game many records against his name ranked III in ICC ranking robin should be patient and wait for his chance k'taka team missed his service during ranji smeis against bengal team
Best of luck to u

Let us not compare who played liked
by anil babaldi on Jan 30, 2007 09:41 AM

He played really well. Sehwag, Sachin are a different class. Yes he is failing but that does not mean Sehwag is waste. He has got on top many a times. Now he is goin down the drain and desperately he needs to prove himself. No one can be Sachin. About Robin, the way he got forward to few swinging balls just 1% of what Sachin was during his first innings of 84 of 42 balls against NZ on a seaming swimging pitch and previous match morrison got a hattrick and the same hatrick balls were next day dispatched with disdain. Similar shots one or two reminded me. But let us not forget Sachin is not an ordinary mortals like Ricky ponting or Kallis, he became a legend because he performed for 17 years. Robin needs to be consistent thats it.

Robin seems to have a good technique coming forward on the drive,it will be interesting to see how he copes up with short stuff on bouncy pitches. But given his form in the domestic circuit and the attitude he has shown he should be in the squad for WC,being the final 12 can be decide d based on consistency
