Because of 7 min Prasar Bharati Ko Ghusa Kyon Attha Hai
by Shyam on Jan 24, 2007 03:43 PM

Right now India after electing to Bat has posted 34 for 3 in 12 overs. At this rate there is a possibility in 7 min entire innings can wind up. What is what is worrying DD. While Nimbus would be showing the the opening pair of W Indies batting...DD may end up by showing Suchin getting out for Duck.

BCCI is doing to india what AL Queda is doing to rest of the world
by suresh kumar sharma on Jan 24, 2007 02:51 PM  | Hide replies

it is harsh but in fact this is truth. note down the following
* ever BCCI have plaaned a cricketing season taking into view the acedemic calendar of the students?
answer: A BIG NO
* Ever BCCI have thought of national interest beyond cricket
Answer: NO
* how much collective time and energy of fellow countrymen BCCI have wasted by its telecast?
answer: never bothered
* why govt. is making an issue more important than rising prices when actully the BCCI is one of the party to this rising prices by ad promotions adding to net cost.
answer: never thought of it
* BCCI slowly killing the less time consuming and more entertaining games like Kabbadi, Hockey
answer: who care

* Our education system is such that every day some group of student are appearing or preparing for some exam. If BCCI takes the academic calender of students then we will not be having any cricket in India.
* Cricket is the main interest of BCCI. So long as it thinks only of cricket it is in national interest only.
* BCCI job it is to conduct and develop cricket in the country. Now if people spend time in watching cricket match it is their choice. BCCI is not forcing them to see the match.
* In a free economy price gets fixed due to operation of demand and supply. If BCCI is organising a good show they have a right to sell their product at the hight market price.
* BCCI is not responsible for the death of other games. It is the lac of interest in the other games for the viewing public that is killing games like hockey and kabbadi. Moreover the organisation that controls these games are also reponsible as they have not been able to organise the events related to this games in such manner that it makes its viewing interesting for majority of the sports lovers.

Mr. Sharma,

1. Are students the only one who watch cricket in this country?
2. Our fellow country men choose to waste time behind petty issues like these.
3. Our politicians have nothing better to do. so they play vote bank politics. They (Left) were the ones who wanted to bring down the national government because of non-performance in a sport. Where were they when we didn't even qualify for World Cup Soccer.
4. If the BOARD OF CRICKET CONTROL in INDIA doesn't think of CRICKET who is going to do that? Me or You?
5. A population of a billion plus and we can't even win more olympics than countries like Kahazingtan and Estonia.
5. What rising prices are you talking about?
6. For you information its us who gives so much importance to cricket than other sports like Kabbadi and Hockey. Every sport will do its best to come up on top.

Oh! and just for the record I am looking at the quality of DD I rather not watch the match or watch the score board ticking Online at Rediff.com

I hope this helps you the next time you write such views / comments before thinking rationally and getting the correct facts.

Mr. Satya,

I fully support you because. If BCCI takes the academic calendar of Western India I am sure the Left from the East are going to make try and bring down the national government.

Hi
I would like to answer to your first question. It is not possible to plan cricket season by keeping academic seasons in mind because in India each state, each Universsity and some autonomous colleges have their own calender. Also it differes from schools, colleges and Universities. In India we have cricket lovers of all ages irrespective of scchool, college and or University. Whose academic could BCCI take into account.

Regards
Satya

TOO MUCH OF ANYTHING IS BAD
by leena parameswaran on Jan 24, 2007 02:22 PM  | Hide replies

Dear friends,
First of all I also love cricket. But...
India is a poor country. Too much cricket is going to have adverse effects on our social life. Think and react passionately against the skyrocketing price of essential commodities, air pollution, poor farmer's suicides etc. If you waste time thinking of a cricketer scoring a run or not , millions of our fellow country men will remain illiterate and poor always.
arise and awake. Priorities should be changed now. Discuss the matters related to the welfare of the poor and helpless people of our country.
Don't waste time unnecessarily. Nothing is going to happen if our sachin scores 100 or 0. The passion which we are showing for the win of the country in cricket should be shown in matters related to corruption, black money etc.

Too much of obsession with poverty as you are showing is worse for the country. Moreover it is a few pleasure of life like a major sports event, movie, a village mela, nautanki, religious function etc that makes people (whether they are rich or poor) forget their problems for sometime and enjoy their life. What is too much of anything is for respective person to decide. So long as any activity has the support/patronage of a good munber of the citizens it can continue. If something is in excess then people would get tired of it and loose interest in the same and that event will die a natural death. So one need not feel we have had enough of cricket in India. Cricket matches in their own way contribute to the economy.

BCCI can not conduct a cricket match unless it makes money. There is nothing wrong in BCCI awarding the telecast rights to the highest bidder. The concern of Prasar Bhararti in telecasting is not the concern of the people of the country but it wants to make tons of money for itself in the form of ad revenues without paying for the telecasting rights.

Wastage of time
by suresh kumar sharma on Jan 24, 2007 02:05 PM  | Hide replies

it is in the interest of people that better concentrate on your work. watching a game can be pastime in the offtime but here in India everywhere and everyone is glued to their TV sets to watch someone else playing. instead everyone should develop some interset in Playing a game and enjoy your free time in a better manner

Nobody 'wastes' time. People do what they find is most interesting for them. Those who find their work interesting will work whatever be the prorame on the TV. Those who love playing will prefer playing to watching TV. Those who find TV interesting will continue to watch the programme on the TV even if they has some other work to do.

BIDDING FOR SPORTS & EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMES SHOULD BE BANNED. THOSE IN FAVOUR OF BIDDING SHOULD NO. IT IS JUST AS DEMANDING DOWRY. THE LARGER THE AMOUNT OF DOWRY. THE BETTER THE CHANCE TO GET MARRIED. AND THESE PEOPLE ARE THE ONES WHO IN THE NAME OF SOCIAL JUSTICE CRY AND BEG FOR THE SAME. SPORTS IS FOR EVERYBODY - DO NOT MAKE IT YOUR BEDROOM'S PRIDE. IT SHOULD BE VIEWED BY ONE AND ALL FREELY. ( FREE OF COST)

DD is ridiculous
by syam krishna on Jan 24, 2007 01:50 PM  | Hide replies

If DD has to broad cast the match just in the interest of the public, then why does not it give the complete revenue earned through ads in the match to the feed owners? These people are just greedy and not at all viewer friendly. As a viewer, I say that I am satisfied with a 7 minute delay. These people are afraid that the price the advertisers pay for a 7 minute delay would be lesser when compared to live feed. Prasar Bharti is really against democracy.

by Sarith Sircar on Jan 24, 2007 01:34 PM  | Hide replies

DD always does these dirty tricks. First they do not want to spend money and bid for the telecast rights and then in name of national channel, they want to earn money by taking "free feed" from professional companies who have dealt and bid for the rights. THIS MUST STOP!!! DD should learn to be professional.

You r absolutely right Sircar, the programme beamed by DD are shame to India. The signals are weak, serials are dull what's more the news telecast is worth skipping. They do not want to spend on latest technologies because the officials need to feed politicians from the earnings. Mera Bharat Mahaan!!!!
