Can India turn it around?
by M. Shankar on Jan 22, 2007 12:01 PM

First, let us all warmly congratulate Saurav Ganguly for his amazing come-back. His determination and focussed hardwork brought the laurels based on his recent performances. He richly deserves a round of applause from all. His confidence and never-say-die attitude seem to have helped him.

But the Team India needs to be quickly put in shape, after all the tinkering that has been done. I won't be surprised if Shehwag, Pathan, perhaps even Munaf Patel, Laxman, Jaffer and a few others are reduced to spares now. But these are all great talents that can't be allowed to rust. Since world cup is a wishful target, why not bring these together into a special band and give them intensive training, or practice, and make sure they are match-fit. Who knows, as Saurav rightly says, it is what they do on their day of match is what matters, just get them ready? There is not time to pick from probables now, we have already lost two years. Will Greg Chappel listen, and help us get the Cup. It will help us to remember him through something really tangile!

M. Shankar.

Shewag and Pathan must trained well in county cricket
by on Jan 20, 2007 09:48 AM

Virender Shewag and Irfan Pathan should have to trained well and get their place for the world cup since both the players having the capability to change the match at any time.If former skipper Ganguly had given chance to open the innings for the team,he can able to make the innings well as we saw earlier with Sachin. All the very best for our Cricket India for the upcoming series with West Indies and get revenged.

Ganguly has the brain
by Bhabatosh Chowdhury on Jan 20, 2007 02:28 AM

Dravid , tendulkar are clueless in crunch times ....ganguly always come out better in pressure....he should be the captain..and india can bounce back..dravid and tendulkar may be technically better batsman than ganguly but when it comes to mind he has the lions share.....

Need to get bowling combination right
by AMOD KARNIK on Jan 19, 2007 07:39 PM

If India get their bowling combination right, they will surely go all the way to the final like last time!
Sreesanth, Zaheer, Agarkar, Kumble and Pathan would be a very good bowling combination indeed!
And yes, pls not waste Dhoni at no.7, push him up the order to open the innings with dear Dada, right left combo will wreak havoc in opposition ranks. Let Sachin bat at 3, Dravid at 4 and Yuvraj at 5, the rest can be flexible.
Cheers to India!!!!

50 & 100
by ANIL SAMAL on Jan 19, 2007 02:34 PM

Yes they can turn it if they understand that in cricket 50s and 100s are consider as respectful personal score than 25.

Great Post

India has been trying to rebuild their team for two years. Nothing special has happened? They got hammered in champion trophy and in south africa.

Look at sri-lanka and pakistan? they are a good prospect for the world cup. I think India will reach the semi-finals thats it..

They don't have the players to win the world cup.

What a great comment to read!!!!

My Dear Sir, do you have any idea how many tests Ganguly has played in his career? And how many runs he has made till date?

In a reply to your comment I should say, that you should rather look into our 'MASTER BATSMAN' Mr. Sachin Tendulkar's recent records. I think he is REALLY 'CONSISTENT' with his extremely poor performance for the last couple of months!!!!

So instead of daring to write anything stupid like the one above about a man, who is an epitome of courage and commitment to all of us, it is better that you keep your mouth shut up.

Who agrees with whose views on Sourav?
Good or bad?

Man, Gangulys appear in this world very rare.
Look at the face, look at the grace, and look at the emotions.
Look at his pleasures, look at his pains, and look at the man who is a commander.
Look at him who rescued Indian cricket from the bookies.

Look at the man who charged the averages and ordinaries in to performers.

You guys put pedestrians and soldiers ahead of the leader.

The present skipper is a good soldier but always nervous.
Look at his face. Never beaming, never bright and brooding all the time.
Always under the spell of White Mischief.

And a pigmy %u2013 the Jumping Tennis Ball judged the tallest .

Shame on you the jealous, the buffoons, the good for nothings, and the diggers of your own graves.
Good things are never meant for you.
Even if you get it you will lose it soon.

You deserve another 1000-year rule by the whites.
Perhaps beginning with stony faced White Mischief.

Politics in Sports

Ganguly rightly said that if a good team is given India can win the world cup. But Can the selectors give one. As long as there is regionalism ruling the minds of our worst selectors, cricket lovers are always left with broken hopes. They did not even consider Syed Shahabuddin who plays for Andhra as an all ronder. This season also he played exceptionally well but no one looks at him. Because the region quota will not allow them. With this kind of standards, we can never expect that we can win any (not just in cricket). - Thanks, Ravi
