I am a big fan of Michael Bevan. He's like a dronacharya for students like Ekalavya, who learn to play cricket on thier own.I feel that all those who want to learn cricket should watch Bevan's play and not Sachin's play. This way INDIA's next generation cricketers will play for the country and not for personal records. Finally,my advice to Sachin is to retire from Cricket and allow others to play for the country.
Bevan used to come to the Ausies whenever they were in trouble. His running between the wickets for phenomenal. Our senior cricketers (including Tendulkar) should follow suit. The Ausie selectors also should be appreciated for not selecting Bevan when whe was injured. Our Indian selectors also should learn from them. Ananth
Bevan was a hero in many of the lost-cause matches. The way he turned singles into doubles was sheer class. Undoubtedly the best one-day batsman the world has seen. He was just incredible. I hope India finds somebody of the calibre and consistency of Michael Bevan.
My favourite batsman at one time now it is ofcourse Hussey and Peterson who also plays and average like Beevan. I would consider Bevan one of the game's most under-rated batsmen of any era. Bevo was a legend. The beauty of Bevo was that he was able to score runs without those big shots that everyone loves. His ability to place the ball was superb. And how many times was he responsible for Australia winning games and posting big totals? At the end of the day, how many times did he come in when Australia were 4/80 or thereabouts and somehow get the team up to a decent score? More than I can count.Plenty of times. He will always be remembered cause he able to turn difficult situations into miraculous wins. Goodbye Michael Bevan...Goodbye. Some lessons must be learnt from the beevan episode by the so-call Indian greats who can never play a match winning innings under pressure.

Hi El,
I totally agree with you. Beven is one of the most under-rated batsman of our time. Unlucky for India, we have the "most" over rated player in Sachin who has not won a single match for India since ages.
Bevan is the best one day batsman the World have ever seen.Look at his average. But he is misused by cricket Australia.Even at mid-ninties Australia criket thought he is more talented than Ponting but his batting position and luck go against his talant and obviously his career would be more healthy if he born in other cricket playing country because Australia is greatest in cricket and full of so many talented cricketers. We have to salute him for his performance.
Sachin should take lessons from Beven's career about how to be a match winner rather than an "ad winner". Sachin never playes when India needs him most whether it's a run chase in one day cricket or drawing a test match when India is on the verge of losing. All your talent is useless if it can't help your team win or save the matches and Sachin need to know this as much as any other player in the Indian team.

Vivek this is rediculous...You should not compare sachin with bevan....Indias most successful batsman....eventhough If he is not playing we should not blame him...we should proud still he is playing for our country...Sachin is not in a position to take lessons from him....that quotation is very bad.. we are proud to say sachin is Gr8

Hi Bhavani,
I didn't compare Sachin with Beven. Beven was a better player as he was a match winner and not a paper tiger like Sachin. You are right- a match winner like Beven and an "ad winner" like Sachin cannot be compared. A match winner is always better. Isn't it?
