It is unilateral judgement to ban a player for being abusive but it should be noted the fans from India and Pakistan always use abusive words at the players even I could not tolerate the abusive words used by the fans at the gallery while I was sitting at the gallery to watch a match and fought with those persons. So it is natural from Gibbs. It can be fully judged when you have a microphone at the gallery.
Its just funny. The way the subcontinent is calling the shots in the management. The impartial me wants to criticize but what the hell... I am happy. We have to stop being apologetic for being so monetarily strong in the game. When the US does it in politics, no one says anything. When Britain did it for 100s of years, no one made a fuss. Why now ? I think it is only natural that the subcontinent with the amount of revenue it has, dominates ICC. Rather than being judgemental let us sit back and relax and enjoy the ass-kickery that we are in a position to deliver.
If people behave like animals they will be called such, be it Indian, Pakistani, South Africans or any other nation, this decision is one sided. Abuse in any form should not be tolerated, it is my birthright to defend myself, by words or any other action.people from our part of the world being overly emotional have been known to behave like animals when in support of their teams, if the pakistanis supporters behaved like animals, they they have been rightly called so.
Gibbs ban proves that today the asian nations call the shots in the working of ICC. Without going into the rights and wrongs, it is only fair to say that Gibbs may have been seriously abused by pakistani supporters. The same attitude was shown in the sacking of Darrell Hair when it is clear to all cricket fans that Hair was one of the best umpires in the world. Even the Indians copped a lot of abuse at the hands of Andre Nel but chose to carry on in the spirit of the game. why can't the pakistanis do the same??

I dont agree with Amod on the issue that Asian Nations are calling shots. In recent past therehave been innumerable caseswhere sevre penalty wasimposedon Asian players for very small reasons. And racial discriminationby these countriesis very well known,

Oh Yes, and what happened to the Indian spirit when the Aussies sledged Sharad Pawar? When things happen to us we are the first to scream ,when other nation is involved then things are all right and should be taken in a stride.

Some Indians might just not care about Pakis and their problems. They may be too insignificant to warrant our attention. What is wrong with that? All Amod is saying is that we should stand up for our interests rather than mindlessly jumping on the Asian bandwagon. Personally speaking, I would rather support SA any day over Pak.

Where were u when players of India-Srilanka-Pakistan being abused while playing in England, Australia,Newzealand. U never commented at that time. And from which bench mark did u find Darrell Hair good umpire. Why some of the shameless Indians like you (I suppose u r an Indian as your name suggest) always end up on the receiving side in the name of manners, when other side never respond and mock at you

Dayakar, you seem to be an Indian too!! Exactly, that is the point, Darrell Hair was a very good umpire from the Indian point of view, we only had problems with Daryl Harper. Our interests may not match the interests of Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Yet we chose to ride the asian bandwagon even though it was not in our best interests. An umpire who gives marginal decisions in the favor of India against any nation is a good umpire from our point of view. Having watched many matches of India with Mr Hair officiating, i can safely say that most marginal decisions went in our favor. Unfortunately, immature people like you bracket all umpires from England, australia in one slot. it just shows your lack of understanding of the game. One more thing, why is it that such controversies always happen with Pakistan and not with India? Let us do what is in our best self-interests rather than be led by what Pakistan or Sri Lanka want. The Indian fans who abused Inzamam in toronto were roundly criticized by the press, then why not put abusive Pakistani fans in their place?? And when i said that the Indians chose not to react to Nel's outbursts, i meant to say that thse things happen all over the world, Mcgrath, Lee, Flintoff, Vaas, Shoiab all do it, so why make a big fuss about it? Sledging no longer remains a preserve of the non-asian countries as Shantakumaran Sreesanth proved it!!!!
Your son has this uncanny knack of taking the centerstage in very serious controversies. OK, your son is not a racist, but then his involvement in matchfixing is well known and documented. What do u have to say about your problem kid on this? Dennis
