unknowing the situation

as expressed by umpire, the players should have sticked with the game then only they can be able to adopt with the present scene. All players not only the next to bat should watch every ball of the game. I wonder why this basic thing were not followed in the indian squad.

This is total crap!!! How come an umpire can dictate the batting order of a team?? India must stop participating in all international cricket meets forthwith, until she can field 50% of all umpires in every single cricket game, worldwide. Anyways, this does not take away from the fact that the Indian team would have lost anyways, knowing the kind of losers that they are.

Question
Why was Sachin Tendulkar not permitted to bat early on the fourth day of the third day ?

Answer:
Tendulkar spent 18 minutes off the field on Thursday, which meant he was not allowed to bat until 18 minutes of Friday's play had elapsed.

So What Happened ?
India lost two wickets in the first 13 minutes of the day, and number four Tendulkar who started walking to take the batsman\'s position, had to be stopped on his way to the crease.

I guess sachin tendulkar had left the minute 18 minutes prior to close of game on thursday. So according to the rules he is no supposed to arrive on field until after 18 minutes after the start of the play on the next day.

But since the first two wickets fell early for india i.e before 18 minutes of play on that day and sachin who was schedules to come at 3 down could not have come but the india dressing room were not aware of the rule and so ganguly had to come out instead of sachin but was delayed.

Hope that helps.

Well, Tendulkar was out of the field for about 18 minutes the day before the incident took place. Rules say that since Tendulkar was out of the field for 18 minutes, Tendulkar could bat only after 18 minutes from the start of next day's play. The next day India lost 2 wickets early, and before 18 minutes of play. India wasen't aware of the rule, hence Tendulkar came out to bat. Therefore the 4th umpire informed the Indian team at the nick of time that Tendulkar won't be able to bat since 18 minutes of play was not completed at that time. Therefore ganguly was sent to bnat instead of Tendulkar.
