True, we were at least a 100 runs short
by perl57 on Jan 04, 2007 08:44 AM

Sehwag again threw away his wicket. 100 was there for the taking.
Ganguly should have batted a bit more responsibly.
Bad luck that our tail enders failed this time around.
Now the only chance get them out for 300 and then force some quick runs if you wanna win the match.

Proteas fight their way back

There's no stopping SA now - the Indian team is totally out of it, and only bad weather can save them now, as they don't have the stamina, discipline, consistency or determination to win - may seem be a bit too early to congratulate SA?

India bowled out for 414
by Govind Raj on Jan 03, 2007 08:34 PM

If Greg Chappelle was modest in his ambition about the total, it was not because of the confidence in his bowlers. It was because of the confidence in his batsmen. Especially one Mr. Sehwag. Today's display by Sehwag must be rated the most irresponsible even by his own miserable standards.
What could have been a mammoth 550 or so total was cut down to 414, thanks to Stupid Sehwag's atrocious shot. When the world is at your feet, you throw away the wicket like a millionaire! Now South Africa can think of even winning this test. If they bat till 4th evening and rattle 600, they can rout India on a crumbling wicket. This pitch called for a 550 - 600 Total in the first innings.
What could have been a memorable win, will now be a draw at best or a loss more likely. The way Smith and Amla are batting now, SA look certain to capitalize on this gift of batting on a still very good wicket.
Drop Sehwag from India's next match. If India lose this test, He and He alone is responsible for that.

Watch Pollock as he walks back to his run up
by M A J Jeyaseelan on Jan 03, 2007 08:33 PM

I could predict that Pollock was going to do something special as he walked back to his run up to get Dravid out and he did.

Our batsmen would do well to watch him closely as he walks back to his run up. If he practices chest movements while walking back, be sure to get one close enough to kiss your bat.

It should be a good idea to watch the bowlers as they walk back to the run up. That is the time they mostly think about the next delivery

Congrats

Congratulation to Team Management and especially Mr Vengsarkar on proving that a combination of seniors and experienced players on one hand and aspiring freshers can stage a comeback after a clean whitewashing in the ODIs. Thanking you Ganguly for proving that a lot of cricket is still left in your veins and your assessment done by certain cricketing circles is all wrong. Thank you Vengsarkar for standing behind the team and making them stand eye-ball to eye-ball against the strong South African attack. Wishing all members of Team India a bright 2007. We are with you.
Gora
