'An unfair expulsion'
by Pradeep Shinde on Jan 04, 2007 02:03 AM

The guy was lauded as one of the best palyers in the world. How come suddenly he was deemed to be incapable of completing the series and sent back home to play the domestic cricket?Arguably,he was not clicking, but what about other prominant heroes, now playing worst than tail enders, who have continued to become a liability to the team. The whole episode raises serious questions the way situation was handled and Pathan was sent back.It is unprecedented in the Indian cricket history. Is it because he does not have a godfather or what? What about those who have remained in the team for many years despite being a burden on the team and the Nation?Sandeep Patil had once talked about dropping Kaif, but said nothing about Rohan Gavaskar, who exploited many opportunities, but could not excell at all. Now,it need not be elaborated here as to how Rohan managed to find a place in the team a few years ago.In the recent history of Indian cricket, many promising young players were deliberately sidelined;players with strong political connections sought to play for the country many a times. We should now stop celebrating heroes that are falling to enemies and turning libalites than assets to the Nation.

Good thinking by Team Mgt...
by Samraj NS on Jan 03, 2007 12:05 PM

It is a Good thinking by Team Mgt and sending Pathan to take two games before ODI series in India.

Even Baroda coach Ashok Mankad is unable to keep the track of the Indian Team Mgt Ideas. Latter in the Day only he was able to understand the problem. Team Mgt is taking right decision.

Come on Pathan!!! you can do it and come back in great manner. You are too Young to bring back your Line and length. You can do it.

Unfair for Pathan Fair for India
by Anil kumar samal on Jan 03, 2007 07:55 AM

Yes sir its unfair for Pathan but very fair for the team India and the Indians fans who has lots of expectations form the team India. Pathan should take it as lesson and fight back. That is what sports man spirit. If he just feel it bad then he will be a looser. I think Ganguly has face a lots of embarasment than Pathan but he fight back,

Pathan performance did not drop because of his batting....
by roxee on Jan 03, 2007 01:02 AM

I think.... Pathan performance did not drop because of his batting....But because of his thinking of not putting that little extra effort in fast bowling just to elongate his career or keep it break-free! Probably he thought of lasting long and he dropped his pace.

send schewag, sachin back
by Mohan Kalyanasundaram on Jan 02, 2007 11:57 PM

I know rediff.com is very biased and don't publish all members viewpoints, though they keep asking to share member comments. Let me see whether this one gets published in the same shape.
First of all there is nothing wrong in sending Pathan back. Those who don't do well should be treated the way Pathan was treated.
Politicians have taken over Indian cricket and if you take this into account, sending Pathan back is a harsh treatment. Why, Schewag after a string of failures is able to find a place in the team? Who is he bribing to retain his place?
Sachin Tendulkar, a veteran who has let down India on most of the occasion when India needed him, is still able to find a place. How? It is time Sachin and Schewag who exploited the emotions of Indians and made big bucks, show some patriotism and return all those money earned to the poor people of India and give way for genuine players.
Also, Gavasakar should stop encouraging people like Sachin to play for another unknown number of years because he likes him. Also it is time for genunine players like Kapil to take over Indian cricket.
