Aus Vs SA final
by crazy guuuuuy on Feb 17, 2007 07:34 AM

Most probably it wud be a Aus Vs SA final this time too..I dont think this Indian team with all these oldies and out of form batsmen like sehwag, yuvraj has the ability to reach even semis.

Aussies:Jumping Kangaroos or Tiring Horses?
by anubhav gupta on Feb 16, 2007 09:23 PM  | Hide replies

Looking at the current lean phase that the Aussie team is currently going through many would say that this is just a temporary phase and they shall get out of it pretty soon and things like that but we tend to ignore the fact that is highlighted by this turn of events-"that even the Aussies are not invincible without their key players" which brings us to an important statistic the age of their key players Glen McGrath is 37,Matthew Hayden-35,Adam Gilchrist-35,Ricky Ponting and Andrew Symonds are 31 each Shane Warne and McGrath have obviously announced their retirement but this age statistic is clearly conclusive enough that though they are the best team in the world, they do not have age on their side it's fair enough to admit that they have an enviable bench strength but do we see a Shane Warne or Glenn McGrath on the horizon? So even though they are quite invincible today(with their best 11 of course)you never know what may happen in the near future with their key players retiring almost at the same time.
On the contrary this phase may just be a descend in another Aussie jump for new heights and mind you, generally these jumps are really long ones

You are right, Anubhav. But, do you agree a fact that Hussey is very good batsman, and you can see another Ponting or Gilcrist in him after a year. And Clarke also the same, if another 2 players joins in team by 1-2 years, there would not be any threat in batting even though they loose Hayden and Gilcrist. May be they do not have good bowlers coming up to replace McGrath, but Nathen Braken is also good bowler. Anyway I would be happy happy if they do not get good players and would be more happy if India gets them :)

Hussey is 31 and so is Hodge. Also remember, they all play well with a full strength team. But when the seniors are missing, you saw what's happening in NZ?
Right?

Mighty Aussies
by Abhijit Nimkar on Feb 16, 2007 08:41 PM

This is just a temporary phase when the mighty aussies are not able to win matches. But i m pretty sure they are gonna come back roaringly.Everybody knows how they thrashed England in the Ashes 5-0 after having lost the pprevious Asheh series. They are simply the best & they always play as a team. Its just that they have got a bit complacent, but nothings gonna stop them, they are simply the best.Australias chance to win the World Cup seems less though bcoz of the kind of slow wickets in W.I.but u can still expect them to fight. If the pitches in World Cup are slow & low, then teams like Sri Lanka & India & West Indies stand a great chance too

they are without key players
by Shekar Pendem on Feb 16, 2007 08:40 PM  | Hide replies

The one reason for Aussies defeat is they did not play with their key batsmen Gilcrist, Ponting, Symonds and Clarke. Interesting thing is, they all batmen who missed in this ODI, and have full strength of bowlers, but could not pick any NZ wickets :)

remember, aussies came to the 2003 world cup after tasting similar defeats...their morale will be down when they get in 2007 WC, and that is a driver for this team...history will repeat itself..wwatch u fellas..gonna see aussies lift the cup for the 3rd consecutive time...:)))

hahah its so funny the dent the Aussies have created in the minds of cricket fans, even in the champions trophy all around people said Aussies wont win this time as they lost to WI but alas they won and how ,guys cant bear to see the Aussies winning any more ,chill guys its only a sport and if they a number one team they number one ,cant change that .Again losing a few games wont change anything they will come back harder.

Not desperate ,just being real how is desperation for them to win gonna make them win?
Remember the champions trophy finals when the entire stadium was rooting for the west indies, desperate for WI to win ,you remember what happened. The Aussies have finesse in their game and there is no denying there and they a treat to watch.

Please go back and do you homework. When the Aussies came in into world cup 2003, they had won the tri-series against England and Srilanka. Infact, in that tri-series they lost only one match against Srilanka in Sydney. At the end of the World cup final Australia has 17 consecutive ODI victories and they played only 11 matches in WC 2003. So they entered WC 2003 with six other consecutive ODI victories.

All u guys writing how the down fall of Oz has begun and how India are gonna beat them and win the cup should go back and read the blogs after the Aussies trashed India in the 2003 world cup finals ,many of you guys wrote watch out Aussies India is gonna come back and beat u guys hollow etc etc ,sigh sigh nothing of that ever happened ,its 2007 now the Aussies have been the only team who have been consistent in winning , a few losses cannot decide the fate of a team if we decide how a team is finished with a a few losses then how would you rate the Indian team with so many losses down the years, agreed the Aussies have created a dent in a lot of cricket fans egos but in the end they a fighting team and they come back harder and as an Aussie sportsman said in Australia we OK about winning but when we lose thats whats sparks the flame and thats whats Aussies sports is all about thats why they top even in the Olympics ,like it or not they gonna be back .
