Most of you will agree that Tendulkar is past his prime.
But, there is no doubt that he is a valuable player for the Indian Team.
I think Tendulkar should play a role of a senior All Rounder like Steve Waugh, and come to bat at No.6 or 7. He can innovate himself and be a utility player with the bat and ball.
Having proven himself, I don't he should have any pressure to perform. So, he can easily take the load of Captainship, again. This will free Dravid, whose consistent batting, India needs desperately.
In the event of a middle order batting collapse, Tendulkar can become a wall, and do the fire fighting job, effectively.
I think Tendulkar deserves a lot of respect, and, he brings in invaluable experience to the team.
The performance of indian team at the international level is only based quality of domestic cricket. The domestic pitchs much favour to the spin bowling and not for the fast bowling. Thats why most of the younsters are struggling alot in the fast bowling pitchs at aus,nz,safrica.

indian pitches are like most asian pitches. they are slow. Indian pitches are made for batsman.
I think the indian cricket team hasn't won a overseas series in 16 years?? either test or oneday. thats quite surprising, they even lost to Australia in 2004 home test.
Anything which Tendulkar does sets tongues wagging (or better say - sets the key boards clicking), whether he plays well or does not play well or does not play at all.
No doubt Tendulker is India's best batsman, he is India's backbone. But he is not the same batsman he was 5 years ago, he doesn't charge down the wicket anymore and also he doesn't have the confidence of hitting the ball in the air.
Before he was good to watch, still is though. But how long can he play for?? I really feel without him India will be a weaker team. He gives confidence to everyone. I think he should of not played in this series, let some of the younger players have a go. Kaif is young and very good, he changed india's fielding attitude. He can save 20 runs every match. How can india ignore him??
Promote Kartik to the top, I want to see if he can handle the pressure. Its not too late to drop him and bring laxman or kaif back.

Yeah he is in form now and good time to take retirement! At least we will find one guy who is retired gracefully... Who knows what would happen to his back if India did not lift the WC.

i don't see any potential in kartik, i really feel he will struggle in WC. the indian selectors should of choose laxman or kaif.
All my pals out here have written comments on Sachin, both good and bad. Its nice to voice your opinion. But the absence of Sachin does at times make the team feel a little deserted. His contribution with the bat is outstanding as the record speaks. Moreover he is a good part time bowler who comes in handy during the crisis. He is a good fielder too with safe hands. In addition the close to 400 match stint experience under his belt would give valuable advice to the team on the field and none of are aware of it. Its contribution in every way from the Little Master. Thanks for everything !!
If Sachin can be rested for the WC, then, we would be losing not because Sachin is absent, but due to the remarks of Media. Media would kill us. Definitely. This is a major problem with India. One third support Sachin, another third go after Ganguly. The other third don't take sides, unless the individual fails.
It has become quite common. If the champion batsman delivers, then it is great, if not, then too, it would be great, as some other fresher can be tested for the WC. I would put it in for the team to test the most oddest of all combinations. May be, we should be fielding 6 bowlers and 5 batsmen. It is this line-up, which is going to determine our real strength, in conditions of extremeties. We need to test the bowlers. That's it. Make them bowl slow boucers, yorkers, and reverse swing the deliveries. This match needs to be a test for bowling and fielding.
My team would be
All rounders: Pathan and Agarkar. (I feel only fast bowlers make good all-rounders.
Spinners: Kumble, Harbhajan
Rest of Seamers: Sreeshant and Munaf. (Zaheer to be rested)
Wicket Keeper: Karthik (Dhoni to not keep. He'd too much these days, needs a break from the unrecongnized & laborous job)
Ace Batsmen: Dravid, Sehwag, Dhoni and Yuvaraj. (Ganguly can be given a break).
This is a test line-up. But, can really assess the real strength. Pressure will be on Pathan and Agarkar to bat well. That's good.
Bowlers are six in number, hence, need to share 8 overs each. This reduces pressure, and increases efficiency.

May be.. But, Karthik has a bit of aggression and is a very good fielder. How can you judge one based on a couple of matches?

"He (Agarkar) is short!" ???? "his batting is a joke"? - Johny Lever will be jealous of Agarkar!
On top of everything "Agarkar is nothing"???.
This is the funniest sequence of phrases I have come accross on this message board. That's a good one Mr. JOKER POKER Khan!
