Clarks omission
by Anshuman Mishra on Feb 14, 2007 09:45 PM  | Hide replies

His omission is evident of the fact that in Aus. the teams are selected after lot of brain storming. No preference is given to the players belonging to the President of cricket Board its members. I think India should also emmulate this and drop Sachin Tendulkar from the squad, we can not win World Cups with players like Vintage cars who perform very little or have stopped performing. Same goes with Sachin Tendulkar. The country should bank on his antique value.....
Sehwag!!! are you listening???

You are right Tendulkar is antique value so also Saurav Ganguly. India for sure will never win this World Cup. Imagine player like Karthik in India eleven where he will not get a change in Australi's 50. I think India will be sixth or seventh. So don't pray. Just enjoy.

If you think Ganguly is performing, then why belittle Tendulkar's performance. Hasn't he scored runs lately? If Ganguly's 48 in the 3rd ODI is good, then isn't Tendulkar's recent 100 of 70 balls good?

You people don't know the game... and so obviously don't know value of such talent. You must have been in the front row when Tendulkar got booed in Mumbai. All you want is boundaries... as you have no idea what it takes to be a good batsman at that level.

May be you should stick to the Cricket video games... when you can hit fours and sixers yourself.

Performance not a matter!!!!
by Vasan SS on Feb 14, 2007 05:13 PM  | Hide replies

I am surprised the omission of stuart clarke from the world cup squad.

The difference between Australia and India selectors....

Australian selectors not selected STUART CLARKE even though he performed well.

Where as India selectors selected OUT OF FORM VIRENDHAR SEHWAG and ANIL KUMBLE..

So Performance doesn't matter for them.....

Indian selectors should learn from Aussies....

I dont think Stuart Clark is a very good one-day bowler,.....also all his success in Tests have come on the helpful pitches in South Africa and Australia....let him come and perform on slow pitches, then we will see!!! also Shaun Tait provides that extra pace option...he bowled 160 kmph in one of the CB series matches last week!!!

there are other technical reasons... Clark can bowl very good on the dead and impotent pitches of Westindies.... where the bowler like Tait is not required.. it is a risk taken.. Also Clark can play very well with lot of temperament...

TEAM SPIRIT

Even though Clark was "desperately unlucky" not to be included in the worldcup team. We should appreciate his magnanimity by saying - "It just means I am going to have to work on my game in the next six months so that I place myself in the best possible position to be selected in the future and wish the boys the very best in defending and bringing home the World Cup for Australia.

HAs any of our boys; who had a world cup dream after being left out has such things to say.

This shows TEAM AUSTRALIA and why they keep winning ......... TEAM INDIA! what ya gotta say!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't just compare the teams, compare the people also. People there don't burn effigies of selectors if someone's favourite is dropped. Here we burn effigies on the drop of a hat.

"protest something that was wrong" - what is wrong to drop an out-of-form player even though he had a few successes a long time ago.

Plus if every state did like this, what would happen? The current 15 for thw world cup represent less than 10 states. What happens if the other states rioted?

Then, Why did they include Sehwag now? Is he in FORM? If yes, then god save India. A Batsmen scoring 10-20 runs is in form!! If not then why double standards? Thats why people protested. They knew Ganguly was not dropped for the right reasons -- In 2005 when he was selected intets team, he played only 2 tests and was 2nd highest scorer in team in each of the 2 tests - it would have been different if he had been not selected for these tests). So, I think everyone should think about the way [and reasons] Ganguly was dropped before comparing with others.

Ganguly was dropped becasue he was dancing against low skilled medium pacers on Indian pitches. He did the same in SA... got hit couple of times... but to his credit showed some fight there. The same attitude was missing when he was the captain. So he deserved to be dropped.

Stop eulogising your favourite players even when they suck. Be realistic.

It is easy to appreciate Australia and their attitude. To practice it is an entirely different ball game.

So... stop burning effigies or booing the team when Ganguly gets dropped. May then you earn the right to think that you are a cricket fan!
