The reason there's so much ignorance is that those who have it are so eager to share it.. so Mr. Mohan.. stop showing to everyone how ignorant you are about cricket and how distant you are from logic.. please.. for god's sake.. by allowing people like Mohan to write for it, rediff is showing they are no more than bunch of jokers who want people to read their web site.. no matter how.. wake up rediff.. there still exists competition.. and what about ethics.. does Mohan and the editor at rediff have any pangs of ethics left in them..
The Indian think tank! I do not know who they comprise of exactly!! Apparently the experiments during the last one year has shaken the solid ediffice, built by Wright and Ganguly. 1. Removal of Ganguly from captaincy and side was a blunder particularly when the bad patch of the legend was showing signs of recovery. 2. A mediocre cricketer used to jump too much for making appeals disproportionate to the number of dismissals caused by him, removed Saurav. 3. A man passing the Secondary examination in third division becomes the examiner of a national scholar! 4. A bowler was made to open the innings and was advised to concentrate on batting instead of bowling. 5. An young and enthusiastic good player of club cricket level was carried along and nurtured with the hope that he would be a replacement for Ganguly. 6. Give this club cricketer one thousand chances and his average would not improve beyond 20. 7. Some good players were put under threat and coercion- perform or perish, thereby reducing their confidence level to the rock bottom. 8. By giving of and on chance to the old war horses and some new comers, nothing ultimately clicked. 9. A bunch of scattered individuals are placed in the hands of an uncertain leader who is thinking too many things at a time and lacking in conviction himself. 10. I do not know how many more blunders would be committed by the think tank before or during the world cup. 11. I can only suggest that Vengsarkar is the only person whom the team can look forward to for directions off the field. 12. On the field decisions should be collective and taken after consultation between the trio Sachin-Dravid-Ganguly. 13. Chappel should concentrate on advising the players on cricketing shots, running between the wickets, batting and bowling grips and so on. 14.Changing Rahul's captaincy is neither possible nor necessary at this stage but he should not be obstinate and he must consult Saurav and Sachin on the field all the time. 15. Anyone by any chance close to the dressing room or whatever may pass on the tips to the persons concerned, I have no access to any. 16. Let us hope for the best anyway.

Most of your views pointing to only one thing, that is Ganguly... I don't understand why Dravid is captain if he does like you said, "he must consult Saurav and Sachin on the field all the time"
And, remember one think.. Ganguly gained his form only after his removal from squad, in domestic cricket and bounced back in ODI. (If you really want players to be in team with good form)

Mr Sekhar, You perhaps misread Mr Sengupta. It certainly sound positive points towards Ganguly but can you close your saint eye from this truth. No sir Ganguly played a master 40 in Pakistan. It was a game plan not to have Ganguly in those pitches where runs will be in tons as shown by Dravid Shewag,Lakshman but he was put in a pitch where devil dared to stay, but ganguly did but the idea was not to give him chance but to put him in the oblivian.Compare the opportunities given to Shewag and ganguly you will be ashemed. Now that Dravid is the Captain there should be no negetive idea about him.But Mr Vengsarkar need advise Dravid to be more communicative with Sachin and Saurav to get best out of the tow best cricket brain. If you understand Cricket you will realise the number of mistakes Rahul made.Unless you are bias you have to accept that in any given day Ganguly is better as captain and Rahul a better batsman.Come on give a break.

Where did you feel in my writing, that I am supporting Sehwag? Whoever out of form for certain amount of time, they should be sacked. You need to change your view, look at country level and wish for India winning matches irrespective of your favorite player is in team or not. And coming to match against Pakistan, I never said about it.. and one match can not determine the ability of a player.. and that time he was shown door by not taking the performance of that single match... statistics say what was his batting form about 2 years before his exclusion.
Everyone is fan of some player(s) in the team, but at the same time you should be big fan of your country. If selectors would have given more chances to Ganguly that time, he will be returning to international cricket after year from now. Its great for me to see him now with his good knocks.
First you give interest to select right person to rule India. All of us have the right to select the rulers, but we failed in that. Then you can go for selecting cricket players

Don't know whether he really does vote when elections are in place or just writing articles.
You may or may not agree with the composition of the WC squad - & that is absolutely fine. But to claim that the selectors are no one to decide - hello, that is taking things too far. I mean, certainly one might have issues with the way the selectors are empanelled - but please, if u are even trying to suggest that 'emotional stress' is more important than pure cricketing logic - then please, think again. Anyday I would respect the cricketing acumen of Vengsarkar & team. And if you want to know what happens when we try to democratise on a wholesale basis, look at our political representatives.
To start with, it's a down right ridiculous article that doesn't deserve a feedback! I wish, Rediff is more choosy in publishing articles!
Can you imagine, 1 crore Indians sitting together and arriving at a consensus to select 15 members to represent the country in cricket! It'll take hundreds of years and we'll still not end up selecting a team!
Yes, the selectors have often been ridiculous in picking up players in the past! But, anyone who closely follows cricket for long and understands it well will agree that this is the best team the selectors could have come up with given all the constraints. They've done a decent job for once!
There will always be one or two players in any team who'll not convince everyone like in the case of Sehwag now! But, the selectors can only take a judgemental call in these cases as best as they can. Till couple of weeks back, there were whole lot of wisemen who questioned the place of Sachin in the team! Now, they are silent for obvoius reasons! But, everyone knows that this is not the last time we'd be discussing about Sachin's place in the team!
But the best part of the article is the proposed solution: Can you imagine our politicians taking up this issue and coming up with an acceptable solution as if there is not enough politics in the game already!?! This sums up the worthiness of the article!

Yoh man.....you are right....!!! But donot forget that from time to time we have a bunch of selfish selectors who just want fame & name......NOT CRICKET.
What a stupid article and rediff, please do not publish such a trash! There are better ways to criticise the selection...but then IMO, this probably is the best team at these circumstances. Learn to live with it and start supporting the cause.
