When ganguly was captain kumble was dropped even after matchwinning performanace laxman and kumble were out of odi team Ganguly was to dropped long time before but he survived as captain also b' ccuz his godfather jaggudada had bcci remote control. Nobody dare to drop ganguly. Even after decent performance other players were dropped b'cuz bcci has differnet yardstick for selecting players. why u blame dravid for ganguly's failure just b;cuz he made captain??? Chappell did a right thing in sufggesting out of form batsman and non performing captin to step down and vaccate place youngesters.. ganguly;s selection to SA tour was political pressure otherwise TN player badrinath was ahead of him. RE:Dravid the One of its kind by Suman Bhat on Feb 11, 2007 01:30 PM Ganguly was out of team bcuz of ICC put ban on him, his poor battign,pathatic form and his mentor Juggudada lost power and ganguly was non performing captin in later stages of his captaicny did not deserve XII man and but contiued till icc put ban. Even after that he had poor county season. In domestic criceket he scored some 100s but there are other players who performed better than him but new players have no godfather, media hype or poltical support. Ganguly entry to team is bcuz of political pressure. And ganguly is only player who goes to media on regular basis accusing selecion commitee, senior players to gain attention of public Laxman and kuble were out of team but both of them never make such noises. In 2003 WC it was sachin who won match against pakistan to reach semis not b'cuz ganguly's captiancy. And though dravid made an statment in public, captin is not selecting team. and he also encoured the youngerster like munaf, srisant, raina, robin dinesh karthi etc,, Dravid is captain of side only for 16 months and how can anyone except to acheive him what ganguly did in 5 yrs. Even urvraj kaif, herbajan all got many chance before they cement their places. and some youngesters like akash chpra, s reamesh ajay ratra parthiv patel, hemang badani sanjay bangar, muali karik are lost their chance in nat'l team b'cuz they were on good in books of ganguly. Even under ganguly captaicny team had many defeats and john and ganguly build team and watch how it collsped and when team was ranked 8th odi ranking when dravid made captain now it ranked 6th....    Forward   |   Report abuse
RE:RE:Dravid the One of its kind by mohit Gupta on Feb 11, 2007 02:13 PM I agree ICC put ban on Ganguly for 4 matches but after that ban he came back and scored fifty on his return and got 10000 runs in ODIs under Dravids Captaincy but after that Ganguly was the captain of the side again in Zimbabwe, and team won the series there under his captainship. and then he was removed from the captaincy because of Greg Chappel and Company, i agree that Ganguly went to Media but Even Greg Chappel went to Media and even leaked the email. Even at that time it was told that Ganguly leake the email to media now again the report of Chetan Desai about Sehwag is leaked, is it leaked by Ganguly, no my dera friend it is done by Greg Chappel Coz He is now against Sehwag. Moreover when ganguly was included in the team for test matches against Sri lanka, even after decent performance of 34 and 37 in Delhi test he was dropped, tell me why????? after that he was chosen for pakistan Tour and again after a decent performance of 39 and 37 he was ignored completely for 9 months!!!! what do u say about this??? He performed on the pitch where ur so called wall and master Blaster could not do any thing. and what to say abt VVS Laxman in that match????? everybody supported Gangly because he was not dropped from the side due to Cricket it was the EGO of chappel. even when he was included into the side for South Africa tour, Chappel and dravid opposed the move but Sehwag supported it and he had to pay the price by losing his place in the team. what do u say now?????    Forward   |   Report abuse

Had anybody blamed ganguly for that?? Kumble never used media or potitical support. Dravid did not tell bcci to make him captain, or include or outset ganguly or make chappell as coach Dravid was made captain and ganguly was out of team so everybody blames dravid is responsible for gnaguly's failures. If dravid can influence anybody's selection he could have gone for Laxman. laxman is also classy player he called for on odi to SA and dropped. Talking about performance pls check the last 6-7 yrs cricket statistics. it is dravid who won many matches for team and dravid scored more runs outside india and bowler's pitch. Ganguly's selectiton to SA tour was political pressure. Even now in SA jaffer, sresant, KKD played for team better than ganguly the dif is ganguly is media favourite while media is always unfair to dravid. ganguly is only player who got strong political support. Sewag dropped from the team b'cuz his poor batting just like ganguly. For Zimb even dravid were captain ind would won.. He must be allowed to have full command of the team, team selection, playing eleven etc. Two or three persons he can talk to are Sachin, Ganguly and Kumble. One person he must listen to is Vengsarkar. Rahul is already under pressure with Sachin passing his breath on Rahul's shoulder as vice captain. Although Chappel has lost his grip, he might start his crooked game of captain bashing once again, which would be a bad thing before or during W Cup. So Rahul should be allowed freedom as long as he is captain. Do not try to put captain under too much leash. What Rahul is trying to do is stike a senior-junior (i.e experience n performance) balance in his team. We cannot take somone just because he performed in one match yesterday.....world cup is a month and half event, and a huge one at that. We need someone with enough techincal skill as well has the abililty to sustain the pressure too. Probably he is backing Sehwag n Pathan who might be lacking form currently but hoping that they'd come good eventually.
