did Mr. Desai mentioned anything about bizzere umpring & who leaked report to goan Paper?
by Suman Bhat on Feb 11, 2007 01:06 PM

Dravid as As capatin supporting players. why he should comment on his report without reading it? Why desiai is silent for so many days and who leaked report just 2 days before Kolkata Odi? IF dravid does not support players he is dubbed as incompetative, not agressive if he show some guts to comment against report he dubbed as errogant ? Team lost SA b'cuz of bizzere umpring? It happened during WI tour also. infact rahul for not scoring runs and kumble not taking wkts had been criticised. Had Desai mentioned kumble's 7lbw appeals were trundown rahul was given out 3 times when he was not out that happened sachin KKD? why BCCI is silent? What the manager was doing? did he compalin to Match refeee against sub std umpring? how come goan newspaper got news first? Same thing happened to ganguly? Noboldy still clarify that how chappels msg leaked to bengali newspaper? what price ganguly paid and how much criticism/negative comments passed against dravid and chappell?
Has anybody asking clarification?
Now what kind game the board leaders are playing? they do'nt have time to renew the player's contract. But they know how to meddle with selection players etc.. somedays board members were criticised that players for doing ad commericials?? some politician citicised dravid for attending Sevabahrti function for Surya Namaskar. Borad can not give any answer to polticians? Board is not complaing to ICC against the bizzere umpring during WI and Sa tour? Board supposed to encouage players instead they are playing cat and mouse game..like changing VCsn every match....sewag to laxman to sachin???
laxman joined odi for one match and gone, J sharma for one then manoz tiwary made XII in overnight for one match??
board should clarify it's policy on selection of play?? Why board has not imprived the conditions of dry dusty and dead pitches ???Board has lot money to renovate the pitices in WI and Malasia!
Seems dravids days as captain is over b'cuz dravid like ganguly no godfather in bcci, no political support or never been media favourite..

Rahul
by Indra Sengupta on Feb 11, 2007 08:43 AM  | Hide replies

I believe it is not the time to criticise Rahul.
He must be allowed to have full command of the team, team selection, playing eleven etc.
Two or three persons he can talk to are Sachin, Ganguly and Kumble.
One person he must listen to is Vengsarkar.
Rahul is already under pressure with Sachin passing his breath on Rahul's shoulder as vice captain.
Although Chappel has lost his grip, he might start his crooked game of captain bashing once again, which would be a bad thing before or during W Cup.
So Rahul should be allowed freedom as long as he is captain.
Do not try to put captain under too much leash.
Either allow him as it is or remove him, and of course it is not the time for removal of a World Squad captain.

A few years back, the Canadian National Hockey Team came under a lot of criticism for "underperformance". At that time, the then Team Manager Wayne Gretzky drew all the media attention on his shoulders and let the Team play their game. The result - Canada won the Gold Medal. Here too, Mr. Desai, should do the same. Instead, he somehow released vital information about his report to the media and drew unwanted and unnecessary attention onto Dravid. Not very well-managed by Mr. Desai - what say folks?

Who leaked the report out?
by Prashanth Reddy on Feb 11, 2007 06:43 AM

Whoever leaked the report out is the culprit. And going by Rahul's reaction I like to believe that the report was leaked out by Mr. Desai himself. So, it is his mistake. He is entitled to submit a report in his views to the concerned BCCI authority after the tour, but he leaking out the report to the media is a grave mistake. He, the Team Manager, cannot judge the captain on the final XI selection. A captain is allowed to trust his insticts and back a player, because it is he who'd be responsible for the final outcome of the match.

Dravid the Human being !
by bipul dey on Feb 11, 2007 01:44 AM

If anyone has followed Rahul he would know that this man never ever made any comment in his whole career, this is the first time he has openly spoken about, surely his pride been hurt to such an extend that he openly said such words. Before talking anything we should remember the contributions to Indian cricket by this man. To me he is at per with Sunil, & Sachin. I bow my head to you Rahul, thanks,

Captain Dravid
by janakiraman hariprasad on Feb 10, 2007 11:41 PM

If Dravid's selection had won the thrid test, then would the manager give the same comment. Instead he would have praise Dravid of his ability of taking risk. Thats what cricket is. You win some and lose some. But you cannot critise Captain for that. It is the responsibility of all Team members and Captain leads the team.

LAY TEAM MANAGER AND PROFESSIONAL CAPTAIN
by Moses Joseph on Feb 10, 2007 10:04 PM  | Hide replies

IF RAHUL MADE A MISTAKE IN FORETHOUGHT (SELECTING OUT OF FORM SEWAG AND SICK PATEL FOR THIRD TEST), IT IS PART OF CRICKET. THAT IS HOW TEAMS LOSE OR WIN. A LAY MANAGER SHOULD NOT HAVE AN OFFICIAL SAY AGAINST A PROFESSIONAL CRICKETER IN SUCH MATTERS. NATURALLY DRAVID'S PRIDE IS TOUCHED. I APPRECIATE IT.

I WOULD HAVE DONE THE SAME THING IF A LAYMAN (NON PROFESSIONAL) INTERFERED WITH MY PROFESSIONAL (STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING) WORK AND COMMENTED ON IT. I WOULD HAVE NATURALLY ASKED HIM, "HAVE YOU DESIGNED ANY STRUCTURE AND BUILT IT? HAS IT STOOD OR FALLEN THE NEXT DAY OF YOUR BUILDING?". NON-PROFESSIONALS SHOULD KEEP AWAY FROM COMMENTING ON SPECIALIST PROFESSIONAL JOBS.

DR. MG JOSEPH,
PHD (STRUCT ENGG).

RE:LAY TEAM MANAGER AND PROFESSIONAL CAPTAIN
by on Feb 10, 2007 11:49 PM
To me, there are two things wrong here -
1. Manager's report came out public - The manager did his job by presenting his view of the tour and that was his job. He didn't try to analise any cricketing ability of any player as you mentioned.
2. Captain's outburst to media about the report - That showed how immatured our captain is. By questioning manager's ability to do his job he indirectly questioned board's ability, the very same board appointd him as captain of the team.
