I think the matches shud be telecasted live on Doordarshan using the same feed telecasted by Nimbus. ie including the Neo Sports logo and all the Advertisements shown. I think that would be fair enough. Remember? TenSports did that once.
By the way, why wasnt the first Ind-SL ODI not shown live on DD?
Forcing is okay for bigger masses, but at the sametime the bidder who has bought the telecast right should be paid default royalty and profit sharing. So that future bidder will take all this in consideration before bidding.
This seems to be dictator ship of Govt. of Inida. If the Government is so concerned about the people who can't afford cable/DTH, Govt. should ask PB to participate in bid for telecast right or ask BCCI to incorprate the caluse in bid documents that it will be free for PB. In that case, before makind the bid, the bidders will keep in mind that they have to provide the signal free of cost to PB and will bid for telecast rights accordingly. Now by this ordinance, the looser is only NIMBUS whereas BCCI has already got the full amount and PB will earn millions without investment of a penny. It's a pity that Govt. will take Income tax, service tax, surcharge on taxes and finally the big one-free of cost signals and indiviuals/corprates have to whatever Govt. is asking.
There is a big population in India who depend on Terrestrial Signal for viewing any program on TV. Then we have DTH and Cable for which people pay. Terrestrial : DD should have full rights, unless the private broadcaster has the capability to cater to this Terrestrial Viewers. DD must make sure that this signal should not go over DTH or cable.
DTH: Since DD has DTH service like other private DTH providers, they should pay NIMBUS for this.
I think PB wants to sell the telecast rights and as well as receive free signals so that they can air and earn... seems like they want everything for free... stupid reasons put forth by PB to get the telecast rights.. when people are spending in billions to acquire rights PB wants a share of that... its totally asbscurd...
If PB wants to telecast the matches then it has to bid for the rights to telecast. Thats called fair play. Just becoz its a govt organization (a loss making one at that) doesnt mean it can pick and choose wat it wants to telecast without paying a penny!! And btw i'll watch the matches on a private pay channel than watch a 4 balls-one ad DD telecast with some jackass ranting off in hindi/english in the name of commentary!!!
It is the best if cricket is telecast in DD. But for that prasar bharti should go for bidding and try hard to get the rights. This benefit should not be given to PB only because they are Govt organisation. They don't want to indulge themselves in the competetion and want to get the profit in free of cost.It doesn't sound good

I agree with what Mr Mishra has said. But here I would like to add a point. Cable will take some more time to penetrate India. And for that time if PB is sharing feed with other channels, its good. But PB should not be allowed to use the feed commercially( ads and spot booking) and even if it does all the revenue should go to the Channel that paid crores for it. PB must not get a penny
