RE: Hi

Since 1999 I have been following Cricket just like people follow WWF,i might sound pessimistic but i was very very sure Match fixing wasnt eradicated and will never be,here are my reasons

1)Scapegoats were made of each country and banned, never it went deep down and eradicated
2)Top players who were involved like Warne,Waugh were all let scott free due to their boards and other countries started following this trend.
3)Except Cronje no one else admitted despite being proved guilty, their argument was why just me?Why not others, this itself proves that there are still lots of rotten eggs out there.

4)Matches like that SAF vs AUS where 434 runs was chased gotta prove even to a kid that Cricket has become Masala and Thamasha

5)India PAk matches i believe were always fixed due to high money, look at the scores,it will be so even 1 win for India and 1 for Pak in every series, its like a rotation policy kinda, which prompted Rashid Latif to say that they were all acting well on scripts

6)Even in 80s there was lot of betting and fixing going on and was never punished as was the case of Cronje or Azhar

7)Last but not least the whole idea that not all players will fix all matches itself is very stupid, how can a player switch himself on and off from Match fixing mode,if he sees others fix (which im sure isnt that hard to figure out being around them)he should come clean like Basit Ali and Latif or else he is as guilty as those who fix,on that count all top players all over the world were always been culprits and always will be.

Just note some matches like Bang Vs Aus,the ICC itself fixes in order to keep certain teams in contention.

Also the fact that too many matches been played gives it the extra possibility to make more money easily.

As long as fans worship players like GODS and let go their negatives how will this stop?

Not one player other than Basit and Rashid had the guts to come out clean in this whole episode.

Warne and Waugh said they were naive, how naive were they to keep this out for more than 5 yrs when they accused Salim Malik of bribery?

Now every player is either Naive or has no idea about it,just like how they give Hyper extension as a excuse to chucking,oh also the respective boards coming to players rescue,if Warne was let off why not we invite Azhar for functions they say?what a trend?

Indian police are acting on orders from someone who just wants to tarnish tourist names and not Indian players names,i dont know why.

thishas become a hbit for media and police- every 3 months they will create a scene like this and will not be in a position to prove- they do it just for publicity. this is how they ruined the career of jadeja, azharuddin and manoj. just ignore and just watch yoour game.

Its a really shame that again match fixing and bookie news has come. Its really shocking since samuels seems to be a good player and he played consistently and got lot of praise from his captain. This kind of news really kills the game.Hope the actual facts come soon.

Result was depending on Samuel?
by chinmoy chatterjee on Feb 08, 2007 11:56 AM

a)Who thinks the result was depending on Samuel's performance,if it was fixwd then management of both the team wld be involved.
b)Nobody is trying to understand why almost all
the fixed matches related to India but Indian management and govt has no idea abt it.Like mostly
politicians/mostly govt. officials are making money but no one can prove,- open secret.
c)If match fixing is possible then why not news
fixing?
d)Why media is not talking to common people
by phone with live telecast,
there are so many qns that u can not expect answers, almost everyone is after money who has chances,-and we are bound to sit in the audience.Pls do not believe anything and anyone
blindly. There wld be so many things hidden behind the screen.

Do you guys even know what match fixing is?
by bimlesh mishra on Feb 08, 2007 11:30 AM

A player passing on the secret info to a bookie is not the same as fixing the match (to loose)..BTW in the 21st Jan match )before which Samuels talked to the bookie) Samuels was the best WI bowler (coceding just 53 runs when India scored 338) and he was not the worst batsmean either...just check how much Lara scored...and I will never belive this fixing thing, in a team game, unless you bribe a set of players to perform below par, you just can't fix it!

No West Indian cricketer makes as much money as Indians do. So the lure of additional money from bookies by a West Indian cricketer is understandable but wrong.

But the question is still here, whatever any team which is Kenya or Bangladesh cricketers getting less money than Indian cricketers getting. They should must punish for match fixing if they found guilty.

Cricket in India is more than a religion. Infact after National anthem, Cricket is one of the strongest point which is uniting India. I doubt with all these match fixing if it could continue further.

match fixing
by Prasanna on Feb 08, 2007 11:07 AM  | Hide replies

Looks like India can win only fixed games. Anyhow cricket is so boring, hardly 6 or 7 good teams with them repeatedly playing each other and always one winner only with the rest of teams fighting for 2nd place.
Only Indians watch cricket with any enthusiasm, and the only important series is Ashes, rest of all th cricket matches is just a commercial joke.

How was Ashes important? It was a bigger joke with England no match for Australia.

What i mean is both the countries take the series seriously. They define whether they are success or failure in life by their success in Ashes. And the rest of the world watches those matches too. Tell me seriously apart from Indians who will watch an Indian match with Sri Lanka or West Indies or New Zealand or South Africa.
The world cup which is the other biggest cup is diluted by all those additional weak teams.
