to frank kumble is not a one day player coz he lacks the varition in his bowling and any tom , dick & harry bash him and on top of that he is worst as a fielder avoid him. and yes his place can taken up by all rounder like irfan
Indian sport is useless and very few achievements. Cricket crazy nation which is a dummy in Olympic sports. 1 billion people not even 1 Olympic gold medal. What a waste of humanity!

very true !! the way these two are playing against a strong mumbai side, they deserve to be there !!
Well it is not now that india has realized the need for an all-rounder..even in previous worldf cups india sorely missed a genuine all rounder who can don the dual hat..but expecting this from irfan pathan is i think a bit of putting too much pressure on him...especially when he was sent back from s.africa due to non-performance..let's hope that pathan justifies the trust of selectors as well as public
i think one more batsman is there manoj tiwari from bangal. yasterday i just view cricinfo.com. his record and current form is excellent. i think he has scored three 150 not out 150s while chasing they can think about him. why RAMESH POWAR is not there he has taken 5 wickets in 2 matches also very good in last tour. i think he is better than kumble and harbhajan in terms of taking wickets and turn.
We could manage to beat W.Indies only because, we omitted non-performing assets (liabilities to the team, in other words) like Sehwang, Munaf and Pathan. Once these are back, our chances of winning even against minnows like, Zimbabwe vanishes. Lesser players can fare far better than these out of form and unfit NPAs. Even, Yuvaraj looked out of sorts in the last match. We need palyers who'd remain fit throughout the tournament and who're in form. Let substitutes not be made scapegoats, toiling in the field for hours while these unfit `specialists' stay brief in the middle for their tiny contribution for the team. If the team is thrashed in the world cup, I wish the selection committee assumes responsibilty and steps down paving way for a complete revamp of the whole system.
I agree that the all-rounders are important. Sachin would be very handy with his bowling in the conditions. At the same time, big hitting guns like Dhoni are required to really accelerate at the end. However, playing 11 has to be selected according to the opposition. Against Australia, Dinesh Karthik should play as he is a very compact player and keeps his head in the most intense pressure situations.
India starts the world cup as a good team....neither strong favourites nor underdogs.....depends on how they start.....i am happy that sachin has decided to drop to number 4....perfect middile order....if yuvraj gets his rhythm.....its easily solves the bmiddle order problem.....opening seems a tough call....ganguly is good....sehwag should be firing again in west indies....suites his style of batting....but to do that he has to believe in himself and also put his feet to the ground.....kumble and harbhajan should play together....keeps a stiff competition between them and also they can be lethal together.....zaheer and agarkar can bowl....hopefully munaf patel gets back to full fitness....lets hope that they remain fit....and in form
I find it tough for the selectors to select a perfect 15 as there are more than 15 who seem to be good for the WC. Sehwag should open with Ganguly providing left/combination. Dravid, Sachin, Yuvraj, Dhoni to follow. Zaheer, Harbhajan, Agarkar and Kumble as four bowlers. The problme lies with giving in an extra bowler ...allrounder or batmen. I feel Batsman would be the safest option. I cant see Irfan Bowling his full ten overs in west indies where it hardly swings. The pitches are slow and sachin , yuvraj , sehwag and saurav can make it like the allrounders of the 83 winning squad. It should be given to Dinesh Kartik who has should good batting sence.....with 2 good knocks in south africa and one against West Indies.that makes it 11. Pathan, Uthappa, Shreeshant/Munaf and Gambhir makes it 15. I think if they get their act together and feel united...i dont doubt them winning the trophy.

I agree that Dinesh Karthik should be very useful in some games. India is very well known for losing wickets in clusters, and this affects the run-rate. In the 1983 WC semis, the same happenned before Kapil Dev bolstered India with his greatest innings. Such people who have the mental strength should play against the toughest oppositions, so that any collapse of the big guns does not mean that we collapse totally. Karthik has in the opportunities provided to him been very compact and should be used as India`s trump card against Australia.
Mr Vengsarkar has NOT finalised the team as voiced by a concerned fan. These are words of wisdom ! The importance of all rounders cannot be undermined, especially during the World Cup. The concern here is that though Irfan is a good bowler who can bat, we do not really have a genuine all rounder - except when you look at Dhoni as one ! It would be nice to see Dravid spend more time in front of the wickets than behind them this time round.....
