Everyone knows now BCCI is flush with so much funds that someone in the committe just thought about these unsung hero Rajinder Goel to be awarded . During his time he was as good as Bedi but like lata mangeskar never allowed anyone to break her monoply in singing same way Bedi and team never allowed this talentd bowler to rise above Ranji Tropy.Its a pity really that these talented players like Shivalkar/Goel/Bannerji never got a chance to reach national team level as they didnot have any godfathers to back them.One must see there records! unbelievable.But this is INDIA.Anyway funny to read that BCCI is giving a meagre sum of Rs 1.0 lakh only and its only once in lifetime they are giving ! why not make it 10.0Lakh something more valuable in the present scenario of high inflation.
Its great that BCCI is honuring unsung heros of past but considrting that its a such a prestigous award and given for special persons only so the prize money should be more so that they can also feel proud and price to support their life..
Rajinder Goel deserved this - so did Padmakar Shivalkar, SS Kumar, Sambaran Banerjee, Utpal Chaterjee who never played test cricket but were masters in their field.PPB
