Australia's so called sportsman spirit
by harsh mohan on Jan 02, 2008 12:54 PM  | Hide replies

I did watch that one day series in india and that match too where Murli Kartik along with Zaheer khan won the match for India with their bats.Murli nicked a ball to the keeper during his innings but was givn not out. when asked by Ramiz raza in the post match comments Murli agreed that he nicked one.Reacting to this Ponting said in the same presentation ceremoney that murli should have walked, even though ponting said with asmile of the face but i thought he did try to let the world know that he would have walked in the similar circumstances. But today we have seen differentn=, and two of these celebrated aussie crickters have not walked. Double standards i would say.

What Make The Aussies the most formidable team to play against?.. Teamwork, strategy, persuasion, ability to weaken any team with their aggression, feeling of oneness ( Which we sadly lack),Improvisation and they make most of chances given ( Drop catches/Umpiring Screw ups).. What say folks

Cheating by aussie pitch curators.....
by bal yana on Jan 01, 2008 05:08 PM  | Hide replies

First of all our management should watch it properly whether these aussies role the pitch & ground daily or not....Becoz one first day of Melbourne match, there was no grass on pitch & outfield was so good. The next day when India going to bat, there was grass on pitch & lot of grass on outfield also.Sachin & Laxman can run four runs between wicket but ball can't cross boundary line!!!!!!!!Again on third & fourth day the pitch & ground on favour of Aussies only. Our mgt should rise voice on all these things. How other country players are commenting on Indian pitch?

Dear i have noted the same things. aussie will do everything to win. they know indians score comes in boundaries. this is their strategy to cut down boundaries.

Growing thick grass overnight and trimming the outfiled at night? You are insane! Just understand that indian batsmen are not anywhere nearly as powerful as aussies!

Why people making hue & cry over lost of first test.Tell me which team able to beat Australia in their home in last decade. Please accept the fact that australians are way ahead of other teams in terms of prepration, aggresion, system and tacties. Our world fame batting line will click surely at SCG but we still can not win. Simply because at the end of the day you need twenty wickets cheaply to win the match and the kind of attack India have it looks unlikely. We should happy enough if India give some fight, don't expect more than this.

why blame dravid alone?
by hussaini on Jan 01, 2008 04:10 PM

dravid is going through a bad form, but he is the only real mr dependent ,, wall as he is usually called, allways was a match winner for indian team, so why write him off if he failed in the 1st test? sachin could not save the match either , so why no one blames him?

Wish you all the best team India
by Seema Shetty on Jan 01, 2008 03:29 PM

Happy New year to all and Team India.
I hope our batsman are thinking more of facing the bowlers, and our bowlers are thinking more of getting their batsman bowled out. Let all other thoughts like criticism, appreciation, politics, money etc evaporate from their mind. I hope they try their 100% effort. I am not bothered about the result as long as you are committed and trying hard. I appreciate your committment more than the result. Just enjoy the game

With lots of wishes
Seema Shetty

Long term measures
by baranikumar mahadevan on Jan 01, 2008 02:28 PM

All along our batsmen have been spoiled on a diet os dead pitches in India. Normal batsmen have become superstars on account of heavy scores which they have made on pitches without bounce and pace and hence even a good bowler struggles.

Once they are out on a pitch with life the same superstars start hopping around. The first Test already proved it. Past reputations are nothing. More importantly performances on dead pitches in India and performances against weak countries also give a deceptive impressive. Australia has given us a rude wake up call.

Time for cricket administration to prepare fast and bouncy pitches from Ranji Trophy level so that batsmen are forced to get accustomed to fast bowling.

Moreover Ranji Trophy should somehow invite international fast bowlers - Brett Lee, Harmison, Mitchell Johnson, Tait, Shoaib Akhtar and they should bowl to the local batsmen. JUST LIKE ENGLISH COUNTY CRICKET. The local talent will develop surely as they face quality bowling and once they are pitchforked into Test cricket they are thus more prepared.

At least in the future we will get real Test quality batsmen. Moreover having fast pitches in India will enable us to have moer fast bowlers and more encouragement to local talent.

As per the latest news available in other websites, Sehwag is not in the 13 selected for sydney test. Also it seems Zaheer is injured but he is in the 13 list. So most probably the final eleven will look like

02 Irfan Pathan
03 Rahul Dravid
04 Sachin Tendulkar
05 Saurav Ganguly
06 VVS Laxman
07 Yuvraj Singh
08 MS Dhoni
09 Anil Kumble
10 Ishant Sharma
11 RP Singh
