if India wants to play 5 bowlers then inclusion of Pathan is a must which is not visibke. So india will go for 3 seamers and Kumble...

kumble is impotent on aussie pitches....drop him and select pathan
firstly drop kumble as he wont be effective on the aussie pitches, history too suggets the same thing. ganguly too needs to be shown the door as he is never comfortable against genuine quickies. the few centuries that he was able to make was against depleted aus and pak attacks.
so considering the points, the ideal team will be......
jaffer sehwag dravid laxman sachin yuvi dhoni( wk and capt) pathan zaheer rp singh ishant sharma

kumble is also ineffective on aussie pitches. he is only there as a captain and as a bowler who can come on to give break to the quickies.i dont expect kumble to set the aus grounds on fire. better to drop him and include pathan , and make dohni captain.
is it correct to put dravid & laxman up the order(two had perfomed best in 2001&2003)just to play youraj singh?.if india loses two of them early india will lose the test match. you cant beleive Tendulkar,Ganguly, youraj & dhoni, they r stroke players may click or it may be the matter of one ball. how u can compensate dravid & laxman for anybody?

wk means wice kapten, boxing day is day next to christmas when every one opens the boxes in which they got their presents
I dont see anybody apart from Zaheer and Kumble .. any comments ? Who do u think is good enough to help taking 20 wickets ? or india would have to just wait until Aus declare ???

Don unfortunately you are right. India does not have a quality pace bolwer. Even Zaheer is just medium pace. While can capture 2 or 3 usefull wickets, he cannot tear through the opposition like Wasim Akram, Glenn Mcgrath, etc. So in reality Kumble is the only strike bowler India got.

I get your point, but just to clarify that McGrath was a medium pace too. Yes he was much more effective and accurate then any of our bowlers..
as it is hered that weather at mcg is not good the pitch may assist pace and swing bowling. if india wins the toss then india should go for fielding with 3 pace bowlers. if there are rain interuptions then this match maybe a draw if there is no indian batting collapse. i feel india dont have any chance in MCG and they should try to draw the match. india has good chance in sydney and adelide. we will be defeated in perth as it favours pace and swing bowling.
