Where is Vensarkar? Vensarkar called Dravid as one dimensional player. However, Dravid is going to open for India. Dravid always played and palys for Indian Cricket's interest. He adopt easily to bat at any position. He kept the wickets. He is the playerwho never bother about his record. Hudos to DRAVID.

Bravp dravid
dravid is well aware of vengi has an agenda against him still he is taking tough call of opeing innings
where is superstars blabbering so much in media why can't gnaguly and tendulkar open?
Opening against fast and accurate bowling on hard bouncy pitches in aus conditions will be a tough task for any batsman . it will be a challenge to even Jaffer
As a professional team player dravid he accepted challenge If he fails he will be out of test team also He is well aware of chief selector has an agenda against him.( Already out of odi team after just five bad innings. (Harbajan was wktless in six matches still he playing odi )
Dravid batted in diff positions throughout his career and highest average than any other ind batsman in test cricket.
Rahul is only ind player who won 3 icc awards and represented icc test team for 3 yrs and selected icc odi team for 2 yrs. %u2013( if same honour happened to any other player ind media would done huge noise)
Dravid had record performance outside India and always performed against strong bowling attack, when team was under pressure.
This will be acid test for dravid and Best of luck to 10 K runs in test cricket
Even in 3 test against Pakistan dravid leterally opened innings and responsible for good partnership with jaffer.so making comfortable platform for middle order batsman to carry forward
Team has 3 openers ganguly sewag and tendulkar and none of player is coming forward to open innings to accommodate yuvraj

It seems a calculated plan to keep TAIT and LEE
quite during hostile opening spell and make the
batting comfortable for the five big strokeplayer middleorder.

Boxing day for Ganguly
by sanjay on Dec 24, 2007 07:04 PM  | Hide replies

First working day after Christmas day is boxing day.The celebration is traditional, dating back to the middle ages, and consisted of the practice of giving of gifts ( Boxes) to employees, the poor, or to people in a lower social class. mostly celebrated in former British Colonies.

Ganguly Fans are expecting boxes of runs gifted to him by Australians.

Dravid as opener
by Ashish Kumar on Dec 24, 2007 06:52 PM  | Hide replies

Dravid is at a cross-road. If he does not succeed and Yuvraj does, he will have quit or wait for one of the middle order batsmen to fail so that he can replace him. Of course, before before being asked to quit he will get adequate number of chances but getting tested before world's most ferocious fast attack is trial with fire. The one person who withstood such test and came through in flying colours was Sunny Gavaskar. Assuming the role of an opener at this stage would not be easy. I would have preferred Dravid to sit out.

dravid is comitted prpfessional team player will perform as per team requirement but it is unfair to ask him to open to accomodate yuvraj
by Suman Bhat on Dec 24, 2007 02:48 PM | Hide replies

dravid's average as a No 3 batsman is above 56 while as opener as 34 and against aussies 51.
team had ganguly sewag and tendulkar three operners and none of them to come forward to open innings so that yuvi can accomodate.
why cant sachin or ganguly can't open innigns superstars wanted to open in odis so that easy to build innings without any pressure of run rate and more balls to face
but in test new ball with shine and morning dues on bouncy hard green pitch very difficult to face the fast bowling but after some over balls will loose shining and batting will be easy.
in 3 tests against pak, team lost first wkt when score was less than double figures .dravid along with jaffar consolidated the innings and scored runs and prepared a comfortable plat form for middle order to carry batting easily

why can't superstars play opening in test
afraid to face new ball when aussie fast bowlers bowls accurat with 159 km speed on hard bouncy pitches?but blabbber so much infront of media....
dravid accepted challenge knowing that chief selector has an agenda against him. if he fails he will be out team
if he socres even 30 runs holding one side he will be criticised for slow bowling or less runs
still dravid took a brave decision to face tough challenge while 2 superstars prefer ba

With correction:
Two things hv made Dravid's position difficult - his aligning with Chappel to drop Ganguly & Ganguly's return with a bang, which has shown Dravid in poor light. Secondly, a number of youngsters coming into lime light in the T20 WC which Dravid and other seniors chose to ignore. Presently, Dravid is in danger of losing his place in Indian test team. It is not because of the Chief Selector. Ganguly's dropping in a conspiratorial way and subsequent return like a saviour had resulted in trememndous loss of goodwill for Dravid across the country - not in Bengal alone. I have a lot of respect for Dravid, the player, and I pray he measures up. Other stalwarts like Sachin and Saurav are not in the same spot and, therefore, not under such pressure. Besides both are in excellent batting form. In my opinion Dravid should opt out rather than open

You are actually full of conspiracy thoughts. Chappell was appointed coach of the Indian team at the request of Ganguly. Dravid became the captain then and he was supposed to cooperate with Coach and selectors. Given that Chappell didn't do as skillful of a job as he was expected to do, but why blame Dravid for what Chappell did? Honestly, ganguly wasn't performing as well when he was dropped. Why blame anybody for Ganguly's dropping?

Bottomline is we got the best possible team now and Ganguly is firing now. Lets hope we can beat Aussie and wish the best to our team...

What the hell you know about Idli or any south indian cuisine as a matter of fact. I am seeing lot of posts being biased on Regionally. If someone start to make fun of your chappathis, lassis, vada pav etc then it will be worse. And what is the eating habit coming into picture. What the f..k is wrong in eating idli. This is getting a bit too much. Better shut your mouth and talk about cricket
