If Dravid fails as an opener very early on, then India will be bundled out within 50 overs in both innings. It is Dravid who holds the innings together with his defensive batting. People who make fun of Dravid's slow strike rate have absolutely no knowledge of how test cricket is played. This is not a fifty overs match to score quickly and also get out quickly.

The same you made fun of Sourav's slow strike rate in Test cricket-what about that?
Lotiya Pathanji and Marie Leleji, I am your fan and I hold similar views as those of you. Keep posting your rib tickling messages. Good Luck to you both.
dravid did opening in pakistan when ganguly was not ready to open. dravid's average as a No 3 batsman is above 56 while as opener as 34 and against aussies 51. team had ganguly sewag and tendulkar three operners and none of them to come forward to open innings so that yuvi can accomodate. why cant sachin or ganguly can't open innigns so tha yuvraj can play at not 5 or 6. both superstars wanted to open in odis so that easy to build innings wihout any pressure of runrate and more balls to face but in test new ball with shine and morning dues on bouncy hard green pitch very difficult to face the fast bowling but after some over balls will loose shining and batting will be easy. in 3 tests against pak, team lost first wkt when score was less than double figutes.dravid along with jafar consolidated the innings and scored runs and prepared a comfortable plat form for middle order to carry batting easily dravid will pefrom as per team requirement can bat at any no. a perfect commeted team player why can't superstars play opeing in test also

Suman, I have come across your so many hate messages earlier and this one is also an extension. Lying is not beleiving ! Every body knows what happened on that day when Ganguly spating with Chappel & Dravid. It was unrefutable news that GAnguly was asked to get ready to open the next morning in the team meeting at the dressing room. But seeing the flat batting surface Greg Chappel induced Dravid to prevent Ganguly from opening and asked to pad up himself to prevent Ganguly from scoring big to undone Chappels efforts to drop Ganguly. This made Ganguly unhappy and agitated which has been seen by public in open view due to media cameras focussed on their spat. So, Suman, your it is better now to keep yourself off from Ganguly bashing. For your specific information, I am the one who is not just a fan of Ganguly but a die hard fan of Dravid and Sachin as well and I would not like any one to pass lewd comments against any of my three idols. So, keep off.

It is ideal for Ganguly to open in tests also because he wants to open in onedayers and score many runs but doesnot want to open in tests and at the same time makes a political comment that he didnot get many centuries as he was coming late. Also he is in best form of his life, so it is better to open and show the way to others which he has done before as claimed by his great supporters. But the question is does he has got guts. In case he didnot open at least Kumble should send him one down now so that people can really judge him how good he is against quality bowling. If he does well higher up in order in Australia I will be first person to accept Ganguly is great. There is no point in coming at NO. 5 or 6 when ball is old , play some 2 hrs. score some 50 runs and get out and claim that he is the highest rungetter.

Watch the vedio clips in ten sports it was ganguly arguing with dravid and ultimately dravid opened innings. If ganguly can open innings in odis and he told he missed many 10s bcuz he is batting up in order why can't he open innings in Australia. so that yuvraj can play in No 5 why gangyly and tendulkar one of come forward to open the innings with jaffer Atleast dravid opened innings and played for team

Ganguly plays for scores..he wants to open in odi and not in TEST...and over that he complains that he did not score many centuries coz of that....Atleast accept Dravid for doing so....

We generously appreciate your efforts in getting your opinion across but After failing in two successive test series Dravid better open where he is asked to open and score some good runs. He knows that very well because that might be his only chance of showing his face on the field again.

dravid may not scored big but he is scoring consistantly.even in series against pak, he consolidated innings and put up good partnership iwht jafer so that otherbatsman make merry out of comfrotable platform. he is asked to open to accomodate yuvraj he accepted the challenge what about superstars gangiy and tendulkar both are opein ing batsman and afraid to face new ball with shine on the hard bouncy green pitches that aussie bowlers bowl wioth accurate line with morning due there will be lot of bounce which help bowlers but makes batting difficult? dravid is out of odi team bcuz of dirty politics of chief selector supported by some superstars of ind team. none other player dropped from team just after five bad innigs ganguly's last five innings in odi not upto mark so ganguly should be dropped from odis
I wish to bring here the comments made by Mike Hussey today about their plans to tackle Indians in the coming test series. There he has showered rich laurels on Dravid's capability to bat and excel in any position be it opening or in number ten position. These comments show the worth of Dravid and his value to Indian team . I have pasted Hussey's comments on Dravid as below. "Hussey's attention was then drawn to the fact that the tourists struggled on the opening day of the tour and that classy Rahul Dravid could be opening the innings in Tests.
"Sometimes it is difficult for touring teams as soon as they get to Australia to adapt and adjust to conditions. I don't think I would be reading too much into their first out there... But come Boxing Day, everything will be different. As for Dravid, I am not sure if he is going to open in Tests or not. He is a quality player, a world class player, and he has been that for such a long time. For someone of that class, Dravid could bat anywhere in the order. If he opens the batting, he is going to do as good a job as at 3,4,5, 6 or even ten."
