series result is much predictable
by raj r on Dec 18, 2007 10:21 AM  | Hide replies

Patan is not doin gud with ball. Zakh has never created a threat to aussie batsmen and RP & ishant are not matured bowlers. And sreesanth is not playing at all. so series result is much predictable in favr of aus.
so guys dun waste ur time following dis and invest ur time in some useful things!!!

Thank GOD Dravid is not the captain.
by Ricky Thukral on Dec 18, 2007 06:50 AM  | Hide replies

This tour might have finished even before starting if we had Rahul HOLE dravid as captain.

If he doesnt perform on the batting wicket in melbourne..
then the team for the next matches should be.

Jaffer
Sehwag
Laxman
Sachin
Ganguly
Yuvraj
Dhoni

You are one of those sadistic people like Ganguly. You kind of people should be barred from posting on such forums.

Hell with you and your comments, we all know what Dravid is and what he is capable of. Ganguly wouldn't have been a successful captain but for Dravid.

Know your facts first and then comment. Look at Team India and not Bengalis and Ganguly.

You are the shame of the nation.

Stop potraying all the Ganguly supporters as Bengali's.

I am Punjabi and Ganguly is better then Dravid on any day.

Who performed in South africa on fast and bouncy wickets?
Ganguly and Laxman
who failed?
Dravid

Who Performed in England?
Sachin Ganguly and Laxman

Who failed?
Dravid

Who Performed AGAINST pAKISTAN?
Ganguly laxman sachin

who failed?
Dravid

So based on current form of last year...Ganguly is way ahead of Dravid.

Famous words Dravid used when he was captian-Experience doesnt matter performence matters....so according to that Dravid needs to make way for Yuvraj.

I think Ricky is right. When punjabi's support Ganguly then we cant call them bengalis.Because these people support Kumble.

IF they dont support Dravid that has nothing to with where he comes from..it has only do with what he did when he was the captain.

Dravid will be the one who will be the most consistent on this tour. Ganguly will probably be the least consistent.

My prediction
by Samir Malhotra on Dec 18, 2007 12:43 AM  | Hide replies

I wouldn't agree with point number 2 - weak bowling - because Indian bowlers become better than their usual seleves in helpful conditions. Pathan is going to be able to move the ball around. RP and Zaheer will get the bounce, and Kumble will also gets the ball to kick and bounce. I would only be worried about the batting. The biggies will have a tough time fending of the quick bouncers followed by balls around the off stump hurled at 90 mph consistently. I expect Dravid, Sehwag and Laxman to do well. Jaffer and Sachin will be inconsistent. Yuvraj, I am not sure about. Sourav will certainly struggle.

Guys you are really good job with your analysis.

I do have simmilar views.

So it comes down to having 5-6 batsmen out of which 3 might do very well.

As long as we can keep that kind probability going we will do fine.

Thats what a line up of Jaffer,Dravid,Laxman,Tendulkar,Gunguly Dhoni can give you. A good probability of putting up a good score on the board atleast to fight.

They talk about aus having 4 good bowlers who can bowl at 90 mph but i think it will about the accuracy that will matter. because our batting line up will eat them up if(big IF) they are not accurate(of the likes of mcgrah, warne, gillispie) Lee probably will do fine but I dont think the rest can perform consistently against these guys. but the aus brand might help them.

As long as our guys can play wiht an open mind and look to attack when they show signs of weakness we will have upper hand. But if not they will gain and play to their status.

What makes you think Laxman will do well? In recent times Laxman's footwork has become slower and he is getting bowled or LBW pretty often, so I think he will not be as successful as last time. Same with Sehwag, the opposition have exposed his weakness to the incoming deliveries with amazing regularity in recent times. In my opinion Dravid, Sachin and Jaffer would be successful and partly Yuvraj. I dont think Dhoni will be successful there (his record overseas anyway is not as good as on sub-continental pitches)

I have a little concern over Jaffer's success. Cant say which one of Dravid/Sachin/Saurav/VVS is going to fail. They will all probably be 'okay'.
I think that a 'lot' will depend on the success of Yuvraj and Dhoni. If they can get an average of 80-100 runs per innings, then we will be as strong contenders as the Aussies are for the rubber.
If the Top 5 should get us around 300-325 runs every match and the bottom six 150-175 runs. We will be in 450-500 range, which will be a fighting score.
And, this will put the aussies under a great deal of 'pressure'.May be, they scored 500 in each innings against the SLs recently for the loss of 5 or less wickets. But, it will be a bit different with us.

Yuvraj should be included for the 1st test
by krishna on Dec 17, 2007 09:55 PM  | Hide replies

Yuvraj looks a lot more comforable against the quicks than the spinners.. Since Australia relies on their pacers he should be included. Dravid (who normally is in by the 5th over), or Laxman (who opened for India two seies ago against Mcgrath, Lee and Fleming) or Sachin or Ganguly (who have shown their displeasure when they cannot open) show step up and open the innings with Jaffer. Additionally, there is no point playing 3 left handed bowlers.

Jaffer
one og the BIG 4's
The reamining three of the Big 4's
Yuvraj
Dhoni
Pathan
Kumble
Zaheer/RP singh
Ishant/Pankaj

I am with you. I'd go in with this team for the first test.
Jaffer
Dravid
VVS
Sachin
Saurav
Yuvraj
Dhoni
Irfan
Kumble
Zaheer
Ishant

The bowling side will be weak with just 4 of them. But, if one of the part timers or else all of them combined do a good job of the 5th regular bowler, we are good.
I hope the series is going to be exciting.

Saurav's role is going to be a decider, cos He Can swing the ball in Aussie conditions and if he can score arnd 80 runs (on Average), provided the openers give us a good start, This is going to be a challenger..for Christ Sake..McGrath one of the Finest bowler is not playing..:)

Dont expect a 'One man show' to win us the series. They have to play as a unit like the Aussies do and put up a lot of fight initially to be in the race for the rubber.
We dont want to end up doing the catching up with the Aussies

80 runs average??!!Thats too much to ask for. You are right. If we have to win this series, atleast 5 batsmen (out of the 7 that are going to play, including MSD) have to be among runs thru out the series.
Each and every bowler should chip in and for Christ's sake all the seniors should learn to hold on to the dollies atleast.

by sridhara jayateertha on Dec 17, 2007 07:59 PM

Thanks for ICL for providing good opportunity to youngsters to show their talents. All the youngsters did a good job and showed their talent with some wonderful hitting, fielding and bowling.

We all noticed that Dinesh mongia, J.P.Yadav, Heman Badani, all failed and it shows they deserved to be dropped from Indian team.

Some exiting talents namely T.P.Sing, R.Satish, T.P.Sudeendra, Ali Murtaza, Abid ali etc showed their class. But it is pity they will not be in Indian team.
