It'll probably be the team as mentioned by you just that Laxman might replace Ganguly. If Ganguly has to be in, then Sehwag might make way for him and Dravid would open.

Series result is predictable
by raj r on Dec 17, 2007 10:48 AM  | Hide replies

India's fast bowlin department is so weak that series result is much predictable. we can win test only if we grab 20 wickets. With the current pace attack like zakh(never troubled aussie batsmen), ishant(not matured, no swing, no pace) and RP singh(not a threat), aussie batsmen will annihilate them. Only sreesanth was th bowler who showed some success against aussies and he is not playing.

australian series - they are defeatable
by karthikeyen dayanand on Dec 16, 2007 09:17 PM

if u see the record of australia you could easily find that its not just that australian bowlers winning matches for them. There batsmen have scored more than 500 runs in the first innings most of the time. It clearly shows that indians should attack their batsmen with 5 bowlers (irfan khan RP singh ishant kumble). Considering Dada's lack of technique, i would open with Jaffer laxman. (laxman had played 1 down for hyd).1 down dravid, 2 down
sachin, 3 down dada, dhoni, irfan and bowlers. this will give good balance. Most important of all is the aggeresive/attacking approach. The team that is more determined is going to win. I love my country and want india to win. But the professionalism and efficiency of australia will see them through.

Agarkar and Chopra

People like it or not, we won last time because of Agarkar and chopra gave the support *that we always talk about that the likes of Sachin and Dravid dont get*. Agarkar took wickets when needed and Chopra always ensured a solid start.

problem is Agarkar is highly inconsistent and he has wasted his potential of being an allrounder. If any player is talented and fails to reach his potential, support staff must share part of the blame. This is what separates good teams from great teams

by brv on Dec 16, 2007 08:07 PM  | Hide replies

Agarkar should have been included as he helped India win the only test match on australia's soils in past 30 years and to include 2 rookie right handed bowlers and other 3 being left armers is an huge risk to take..

South Indians favor Dravid and Kumble, which is understandable.

Bongs favor Ganguly which is even more understandable.
In last 100 years, and perhaps in next 100 years no player from Bengal will be of Dada's caliber.

But the remarkable thing is that the whole of India (North South East West) wants Yuvraj in the team!
That shows the class of Yuvraj. I think, if given a long run (and not made to sit on the bench), Yuvraj will demolish all the records in the test cricket.
But for that he needs to play and not warm the benches.

Totally false. Players like S S Mitra, R Banerjee, R Jeejeboy and a few others were class players but never got a chance because of Politics.
Before you comment you should do your homework

The way you anti Ganguli guys talk negatively, for all he did; does any Australian ever speak cheap like that against their player? Be Patriot have shame

Dude,
It is in every one of us to favor someone of our own ilk--you, me everyone. Do you a remember a Saba karim from bengal , who suddenly came into the reckoning when ganguly became the captain? Sourav should be admired for his spirit and his mental strength and supreme confidence in himself. Lets stop it there . In his current form he should definitely be included but I am not glorifying him beyond that is in perspective

What gave you this stupid impression that everyone wants Yuvraj in the team ?
He is only good for one days and 20 20s.
His technique and temperament is not good enough for tests.
The wicket at Bangalore was a batsman's paradise.
Even Ganguly made a double century there.
He also looks to me like a politician in the making along the lines of Sourav.
I will put Dhoni in front of him for honesty and team spirit.

And of course, you are the greatest judge of the batsmen's techniques, their integrity and all that.
Perhaps they should start a Nobel prize in cricket and award you that!

Satish,
Who gave you the right to judge Yuvraj and Ganguly.Don't their batting statistics speak.
If you think you can better them, why don't you get on the field and prove yourself instead of putting them down.

Sehwag..a surprise choice.
by ajay dixit on Dec 16, 2007 03:15 PM

It is unfair to include sehwag with just his previous records (during his tour to aus).he is no longer the same sehwag..he can't even perform well at ranji.. and how can he face the four pace attacks of lee-tait-johnson-s clark, he is going to struggle..(and he is not a player to just make him sit out at the benches to serve cooldrinks to players and carry helmets and arm guards.... the board (bcci) is very biased and pawar is useless.

by dip dutt on Dec 16, 2007 09:33 AM  | Hide replies

It is ONLY in India that we can criticize a hero like Ganguly..Forget cricket for a while. This guy was dumped into oblivion with coach and selectors stating that he would never be included. He came back from the dumps..

We are a race full of weak hearted individuals..We do not have heroes like Lance Armstrong who came back from cancer and won Tour-de-France. Thats the reason why the British ruled us for 200 years and the West exploit our weakness.

Leave short pitch bowling and batting techniques out for a while. The strength of character that Ganguly has demonstrated deserve kudos in this hapless nation. He should be saluted.

bullshit! no need to go overboard in praising ganguly. he was dropped coz he did not perform, as simple as that. "perform or perish", "team comes before the individual"..these shud be the mantras for success...unfortunately, its not the case when it comes to indian cricketers & the moronic indian public!!

Chintu, nobody is against the policy of perform or perish... But how often do you see people who 'perished' after not performing and then came back so strongly? One just has to have a look at the commentary boxes of Doordarshan during cricket matches to have a look at those losers... Atul Wasson, Chetan Sharma, all spewing venom and passing judgements at the current players, venting their frustrations... None of these could make a come back! Dada did it... and that is something worth admiring.
