Unfortunately system is at fault
by baranikumar mahadevan on Dec 15, 2007 04:24 PM

We all blame our batsmen for not facing pace.

Today , in Autralian newspapers, Ricky Ponting has stated that he wants BOTH Brett Lee and Shaun Tait to open the bowling as both bowl above 150 kmph. He has said he wants this as Indian batsmen are known to flinch from pace.

Why is this ?

Because the cricket administrators keep making batting pitches.

Because upcoming bowling talent is not well encouraged. More bowlers should go to the MRF Pace Academy. More bowlers should be sent to England to play county cricket.

Indian batsmen should be made to face pace bowling on fast pitches in India. They must be trained to accustom to speed and bounce. This should be built in from Ranji levels.

For the team that has been selected for Australia we are not hearing any news on their preparations for the fast pitches there. Have the selectors taken any steps. Has BCCI made any efforts. We appoint foreign coaches, managers, physiotherapists, etc. All this is fine. But players must do some adaptation and the system must enforce this.

Guys if you notice, the superstars team, there are some pretty good domestic players who have played for TN and have good amount of cricket left in them, especially the likes of Satish - who if you remember played in the 2005 challenger series for Chemplast and had been in the state team for sometime.Vasanth saravanan played for TN and Assam a batting allrounder, Thiru Kumaran, Badani have represented the country. These players definitely formed the backbone of TN State Team along with Ramesh,Badrinath, Sriram, Sharath etc. Its not surprising they played well. Also the International players looked to be in good shape. Chris Read, Law, Harvey, Arnold etc. Its good to see Shabbir in ICL poor guy had a tough time with his action not gettin cleared

Jhunjhunwala was seen much as Indian team potential. Now i dont think he would make it unless ICL is recognized by BCCI.

Don't read too much into the two TWENTY-20 VICTORY by India over Aussies.
In ODI'S , Australia will win very comfortably, on those tailor made pitches. If aus can win 4-2 in these slow pitches in India, it means the result will be "Ulta" this time around Considering the form of Ponting, Gilly, Hayden & Symonds. In Test MATCHES, If India can escape with Draws, it will be a great moral victory, and You can then name India as the Second good Cricket Team in World. Don't count on T-20 world cup win much, Just like the saying "One time rabbit died when the Jackfruit fell doesnot mean every time it will repeat. Be realistic.........

Aussie formula
by anandaram tsj on Dec 15, 2007 04:26 AM  | Hide replies

Australians have changed the way of playing cricket.

They are playing 50 overs game as 300balls game. They are trying to maximise the benefits from each ball by trying to hit out. thats why they score around 300 every match. Further they keep hitting even if they lose wickets, upto atleast first 5 wickets. Surprisingly this has worked wonders. The opposition team is psychologically on the back foot.

Further they bowl with pace and accuracy( I am sure they have put in lots of hard work) and are reeping the benefits.

In test matches they play at the rate of 50overs one day match and thereby have enough time to get the opposition out twice.

More than that they want to win everytime.

Indians and other teams should understand these tactics and try to develop strategies accordingly( Play like them and go for win everytime you play with 110% effort)

wake up from a dream man! the victory over Pakistan is not 100 percent satisfactory, there is a major difference in both the teams mindsets, India believe in draw and Aus compel others too loose please check the history

Good question. None. It will be a good fight. Aussies will still win, I agree.

And yeah. They are. They are a bit fragile than those of a Mr. Universe, but they are still strong enough for the Oz bowling.

Why curse an Indian batsman? Let us enjoy a good fight rather.

You seem to be a sadist who thrives on seeing others in pain. This is not the first time Indians are playing Australians in Australia. Indians also played WI quick bowlers at their best and performed reasonably. Check the records 1976 (India lost series 1-2), 1983 (List 0-2 in 5 test series). Recent Indian record abroad (In SA 1-1, England 1-0, WI 1-0; ).Except for 1976 (when there were no helmets) there were not many injuries to Indian batsmen. Dont open your mouth and show your ignorance without knowing the facts.
