Let him open the innings...

If he feels that he should bat higher up the order, let him open the innings, forget scoring century, he will not even cross the double figures.

if at all if there is a selfish man in the india cricket team its only rahul dravid and no one else...
he is the only player who has received more than he has given to cricket. no doubt that now he is in poor form. Even until 2006 he is far from the greatest ever test batsman india has ever produced.
he has played at all batting positions to safeguard his personal gains and no other batsman has done it.
the most selfish batsman india has ever produced is number one Rahul Dravid and number two Rahul Dravid

Ganguly great -after 11 yrs of int'l cricket in 99th test first double 100 , NO 20 in icc test ranking after 7 yrs for the first time

2 good innings he started blabering in media on the flat pitich, insipid bowling even pathan scored 100 if umpiring was done as per rules ganguly would not have scored 50s in kolkata or blr.if ganguly feels he missed so many 100s he should open in test also like in odis.
in odis sachin and ganguly open innings when enough balls to face without pressure of increasing runrate can build innings slowly. |but in test when ball is new shining, it will be very difficult to bat on bouncy green past ptiches that with morning dues help fast bowlers.
dravid batted no 1 to 7 in odis as per team requirement and five bad innings he was out of odi team
even ganguly;s last five innigns in odis were not upto the standard as a opener
will chief selector will shown the door to gnaguly and ask him to prove his form and fitness
in tests dravid always batted down in order when one of opening batsman lost score was noteven double fighres. dravid and jafer scored runs and made comfortable platform for middle order batsman to carry batting ..so batsman bats at no 4, 5 and 6 have advantage and ball getting old it will come to bat easy to play strokes
ganguly's batting can not be compred to dravids in odis or test. ganguly in odis played most of time as opener and dravid was promoted down in order when team trouble otherwise at no 6 or 7 where less balls to fa

In test dravid most of innings literally opening and carry pressure with jaffer. ganguy should open in tests so that yuvi can bat at no 5.
gnaguly was arguaing with dravid during last pakistani tour when he was asked to open innings now he is complaing that he did not get a chance to bat up in order
it was dravid who batted in diff positions as per team requirement never opened his mouth in front of media

Dravid test centuries & double tons

9 centuries when India won 3 against minnows..so 6 against quality opposition.
1 when India lost but here Dravid faught single handed.
12 when matches were drawn.

Ganguly test centuries & double tons so only 1 against quality opposition.here also Dravid scored 148 and Sachin 193 with him.

3 centuries when India won 2 against minnows..
0 when India lost ( so no single handed fight also. He can fight everybody else other than opposition team)
12 when matches were drawn

Gang always speaks rubbish whenever he scored runs
In 2005-after scoring a grrrrrr8 hundred against school team(Zim team) attack.
And now he scored a double and came to media..
going by this ,if he comes as opener, thabi dhhodh ka dhhodh aur paani ka paani nikal jaayegi...kya dada aayega???

u may be right. Ganguly has been always out-spoken, especially whenever he did right things. But if you see sachin, dravid and lakshman , they tend to apeak quite even after they played a great knock. seems something fussy with the way he speaks or the way media projects it. :0

its enough of ganglu talking too much after scoring his first double hundred after so many years in the internations cricket .. He was the captain when he sent dravid to one down to save his place and bat safely at number five position ...

We are not supposed to compare ganguly with dravid in Test format of cricket .. as dravid had proven againt all pitches and against all quality opponents. Dravid the quality testbed india has ever produced. who has raised his game and grown upto the captaincy after the initial setback ..

But ganguly has got everytinh right for him from the beginning and failed to contribute and retain his place in 2005 .. lets wait and see who contributes in australia ...

This is not fair. A place in Indian cricket is a god's gift and those he played for india are all fortuntae and those greats who performed well over 10 years are all greats.
Criticising a single player to be selfish is not good. Everybody are great in their own style and comparing one another is not good and is not justiable also.
Ganguly was answering to only a question put by the journalist saying how to do feel after scoring a 200 in ur 99the test match. Only point he has to remember is he got his own chances to come up the order and score, but some how he failed.

Saurav to open the innings.
by Upadrasta PardhaSaradhi on Dec 15, 2007 06:46 PM  | Hide replies

If saurav is not happy with his batting position at number 5 and want to bat higher batting position, ask him to open the innings with jaffer. Yuvi will come into team. 2 problems solved. this guy argued with Dravid and the team managment when they asked him to open the innings when team needed a opener. Now he cries about not getting chance to bat higher in the order. He was a captian for 5 years and if he wants, he always can bat at any number he wants. He once exchanged lakshman and dravid's batting order, but he never him self changed his batting order to come higher in the order.
