this pak bunch just not good
by OMB on Dec 15, 2007 10:39 AM  | Hide replies

I dont know who is right, Imran or shoaib? But wouldnt all of you agree that only Misbah impressed. All others bowlers and batsmen alike disappointed. I didnt get jitters this time when pakistan toured unlike the old days when Imran, inzamam, salim malim, qadir, saqlain, wasim and waqar used to make us worry. You were never sure when one fo them would turn the tables over. This year, the pakistani team just could not strike that kind of fear. They looked out of depth and only time they won was due to individual performance from salman butt etc. and corresponding failure of Indian bowlers in those matches.

yeah ur right! SERIES LACKED the punch the thrill! may be coz of the injuries! asif umar not fully fit!and pakistan always rely on fast bowling.oce they bowl well the batters score. but this time the mood was low.indo-pak is always a big series but this time it was dull the crunch wasnt there!but still with all being apakistani i guess misbah was a find impressed yunis played well the disappointment was yusaf!

still a force?
by ramana murty on Dec 14, 2007 05:58 PM  | Hide replies

it is still a surprise that people still rate as a match winner. It is clear he cannnot take wickets unless he chucks (the one that got rid of rahul in kotla is a classic case). One thing Inzamam clearly said about shoaib:"Shoaib never performs/nor available whenever team needs him desparately".He is absolutely correct in saying so.his line and length r not as gud as they got to be.He is no more a force with reverse swing like waqar has been throughout waqar's career.his action is under cloud every now and then.then tell me wat is his strength?Mental strength which is quite usual with pakistanis.Even that confidence he seems to be lacking.pls reassess his case seriously before u raise hopes/fears about him

Looking at his past few matches,he has not done well,he has not met with the expectation..why do the selectors now and than consider him...will the selectors do the sme with someother players if they go through the sme phase as what Sachoin his going through...every decision should be taken neutrally for all players.

Mere Bhai .....

Do you know how much sachin contributed for one day win against pak recently?
People like you sleep all the time and then get excited when you get chance to type.
Mere bacche first learn how to bat and ball. Then learn who is sachin. Then learn how to watch cricket match.
Then learn how to analyse statistics.
Now go and wash your face and eat lollypop.

Mr. Monuranjan you are highly confused. Your type of guys can only criticize and can never appreciate any person's efforts. India won the one day series against pakistan and sachin played a crucial role in that. It does not matters if is has not performed in a test or two. He is a genius player and if you are that good in judging cricket, why dont you try for a place in the national team. I am sure you wont even qualify for the ranji matches.

Cool down Akhtar! Think how imran can criticize when he is busy with politics? Probably he could not be able to see a single match.

i dont understand why take such a long runup when he throw the ball for speed.he can stand and throw to knock the stumps..even Bret lee do this sometimes for speed...only Bond is the bowler with a very clear and neat action with consistent good speed...any comments gentlemen...

s u r right.Brett lee is getting carried away becoz he is from Australian side.He is not from india ,srilanka .R else aus media and Australian PM would have termed him as a chucker.(If he is from asian subcontinent)

Guys what about Mcgrath's action. What him when he gets close to stumps. We are losing to Aus consitently and if we comment these things we will be labelled as bad losers. But ICC is surely sleeping. Malcolm marshall was a fast bowler Joel Garner watch out the action of those guys... neat n clear.... and watch the jerk of brett less when he tries to bowl a bouncer shaun Tait, sorry to say even glenn mcgrath sometimes, If mcgrath is a great bowler why he never plays in sharjah or reluctant to play on subcontinent tracks why is Kasporwicz Fleming and Tom Moody sent to bowl in sub continent. I m sorry my memory may be poor but i only saw or felt McGrath in india during ICC champions trophy.

I know i have limited knowledge but i see these points. Our batsman or great batsman never say we are not going to aus or westindies or england or south africa.... offcourse they want money that is a different thing they have scored runs against and almost every nation in their home soil.....

shoaib akhtar
by ajesh kadri on Dec 14, 2007 11:54 AM  | Hide replies

shoaib bowlled well but lack of fitness
was not a problem he bowled well fielding was as poor as any time so its dosen"t matter
so i urge pakistan selector to make shoib akhtar a captain for test matches
it will be a honour to him and he will also be in field fr long timr rather den dressing room
take chance
and in odi mohmmad asif it also be gr8
give privelge to bowlers also rather den choosing bowlers

Captain should be a balanced minded person not a fickle minded guy like shoiab. If Younis bhai does not take captaincy i feel either Yousuf bhai and the silent destructor Misbah should take over as captaincy. Honestly Shoaib malik is failing as a captain.....I think it should be yousuf or Misbah

all ex players good, bad or mediocre turn experts--its the stupid media which encourages them and laps up their comments.
Imran has a massive ego and was one of the exponents of ball tampering.Shoaib on the other hand with all his stimulants can hardly bowl continuously for 10 overs---hence its like the pot calling the kettle black--seeing all this mud slinging one wonders whether cricketers paly for the country r themselves.

Ralph this shows ur cricket sense!
Imran and before him Sarfaraz invented this reverse swing just like Saqlian invented Doosra! Now reverse swing is an art! and ur blaming him for tampering just becoz he was open abt bottle cap incident? where allan lamb brought him bottle cap? Man give that bottle cap to any one and tell him to swing!Imran is right in his words as a bowler of Shoiabs class shud be inspirational rather than what he acted like. Bowlers like Wasim and Waqar and Imran have played with painkillers and hard situations unlike shoiab who if gets a sneeze goes out for a scan! Kapil too plyed with injuries and that inspired the team!only inspiration was Misbah ul Haq.Shoiab on the other account is right he didnt have the back bowlers like Aasif an Umar!what i feel is this report is broken.they ask questiona nd sum it up as an interview which makes no sense when read as a whole.

I wonder if Akthar asks/asked the same question [that no one is there to back him up] to himself again and again when Umar, Asif [these guys are relatively new anyway] and, more importantly Sami who are/were playing day in and day out for the COUNTRY whereas he was sitting on the bench, in majority - Not because of injuries but because of so many foolish acts he committed throughout the span of his cricketing life...

For example, as someone said, Sami bowls safe but never attacks like others nor has the penetration of others --this analogy may be true BUT in my view this poor guy bowls day in and out like a machine without any support from the great egoistic Akthar.
...Asif was implicated in Steroids fiasco because of the great Akhthr, and he gets beaten in the dressing room because the great Akthar has anger management issues%u2026..and their board asks him to shut up and don't discuss the isuues to the reporters until it is reseolved within AND the list goes on%u2026.and on...
now tell me...
Did this guy ever think of his country first and then his short-fused ego second? Did he ever thought with his miniature brains that PAKISTAN needs him but nah!!..always wants to be the star! Simple, he should control his damn harmons and play the game - without CRICKET he is nothing....
HE is more a liability than anything!
