tem's performance in tests
by Ramu on Dec 12, 2007 12:25 PM

These are the stats of indians team's performance in tests excluding BNG and ZIM:

P W L T D
overall 394 81 129 1 183
away 190 22 82 0 86

Overall: win:20% lost:33% draw:47%
Away: win:12% lost:43% draw:45%

So when our team goes abroad (not ZIM/BNG) and plays 10 test matches (on average 40 days), it will win once while loose/draw 9 times

Ganguly
by Notout_Naveen on Dec 12, 2007 11:08 AM

Ganguly played very well in this test series and looks to be in very good touch but this not enough he has to make amends in Australia by carrying this form to prove a point. In test cricket Ganguly was consistently inconsistent hope he has learned from his old mistakes.

Fans going ga ga over his last 2 outings are quite justified b'se his best form in test cricket began again after the 2 centuires he played at his debute he has never performed this good.

He will definately play 100 test which will give him more satisfaction on his cricketing career but he should consider himself to be more fortunate in this league b'se the players who have played 100 test for India were much better and class players than him.

Ganguly Best Avoided!
by Reporter on Dec 12, 2007 09:06 AM  | Hide replies

The Bengalis may shout from the roof tops that Ganguly is the best. It suits their regionalstic mindset and ego. Ganguly may even get hundreds and boundaries. Still we say, Ganguly is not a team player and is also a fluke. Team India cannot depend on a self-centred guy like him. We have Gentleman Dravid, Consistent Tendulkar, Potential Kartik, Leader Kumble, Dependable Dhoni, Futuristic Laxman, etc, all of whom are capable of taking Team India to dizzying heights under able coaches like Chappel, who can put all pieces together. Indians want a homogenous team for India and by India: not just Bengal.

deve gowda is impressed with him because he is an ideal backstabber

Southies cannot digest that as a captain Rahul Dravid has done worse than Ganguly. Ghatties cannot digest that TEndya has no comparison to Ganguly's captaincy. Hence all madrasis hope Kumble will do that. Sorry guys.. get real. Ganguly has what it takes.

Dada is simply great !!
by Lotiya Pathan on Dec 12, 2007 08:29 AM  | Hide replies

Before starting 3rd Test in bangalore, I wrote in rediff forum " I Believe ganguly will play well in both innings, and he will be strong contender for MOS".

One Brainless chicken replied " The greatest joke of the year. " There are many such brainless, active body mo rons are roaming into rediff forum. Their mail moto to only abuse ganguly and his innocent fans.

Day before yesterday, there was a programm on CNN-IBN with all inteligent panels, and all they agreed that GANGULY IS TRUE FIGHTER of the indian team. On public voting, GNAGULY RECEIVED 91% votes.

Here I again believe that GANGULY is real fighter of Indian team.

I Respect laxman, sachin and Dravid as great batsman of India and at the same time, I regard ganguly as great batsman having guts and ability.

He may not be as technical perfect batsman like tendulkar and dravid, but with his limited ability, he is a tremendous batsman. Its too lovely to watch his batting in both form of the game.

Here I am 200 % sure that Ganguly will play well in Aussis series and shut all his critics with at least two centuries there.

Jai Hind..

Hi Pathan,

Yes, He has the ability, but no the guts. If
he does again in australia as you said. everyone will accept that he's great batsmen. One more thing some people not beliving him bcoz the way he behaved in the past. undoubtly he's selfish.

Well Bowled Ishan!!
The way media and most of the fan hyping him up, lets see how far he goes.. Why not let the 19yrs old alone, give him his space and let him grow as a cricketer. This is too early to make him a hero yet..

Are you blind??
by harry na on Dec 12, 2007 04:06 AM  | Hide replies

are you guys blind or what??

Ishant Sharma got the wickets of players like Kaneria, Shoaib, Sami, Y Arafat and a mediocre batsman F Iqbal. Thats all from the tail end - - whats the big deal in getting the baller's wicket?

Dont give him an unnecessary boost - - he struggled miserably with the top order order - - - look at the runs he gave till the time he had only 1 wicket.

Harry,
You are absolutely on the money. Ishant Sharma has long way to go. What's the point of boasting about 4 bottom batsmen in an innings where you give away over 100 runs and opposition scores a tiring 550? He got to learn lot of things. Read Sunil Gavaskar's article in TOI yesterday. He's one man who can judge fast bowlers better than any one of us.

Sad part is, he'll go to Australia now, and waste one fast bowler's spot. He has 50 wkts in 27 innings he's played so far including all local Ranji games. You certainly can't be a top indian fast bowler with these stats.

Mr. Harry, why did the other bowlers not take the same wickets and why were they struggling? Agreed Ishant Sharma does not look menacing, he is just medium pace but seems to have potential and I am not too impressed with him either, but atleast he is bending his back unlike Munaf who bowls mid 120s.

RE:Are you blind??
by harry na on Dec 13, 2007 08:47 AM
well sir (cricfan) the reason to the fact that other ballers were struggling is that the pitch is not meant for ballers.. simple...and none of the ball that he balled except for the yorker could be said as an exceptional ball...

and i agree with Zaveri - - - AGE IS NOT ANY FACTOr.. if he needs a moral boost, play domestic cricket.. international cricket is not a place to boost moral... reason.. bcoz when people try to boost their moral on international platform like what Mr Sehwag, Karthik and to same level dravid is doing... INDIA lOOSE tHE MATCH ... and then we all go crying and yelling on street saying tendulkar please retire...

so do you get my point... getting the tail end is not big deal mate... absolutely no big deal.. he did not get even a single wicket in 3rd test too.. that speaks of his caliber

Come on.. wickets are wickets.. For a 19 year old, it is a moral booster & you should encourage him. Secondly, he has a very good action, good height & young enough to make mistakes & learn from it. Well done Ishant.. keep it up.. we wish you good luck.

You are a fxxx. You do not know what cricket is all about. The idiots like you got regional politics in the game. He is just 19 years and must have struggled hard to reach Ranji Trophy and prove his worth there to get bearth in the national team. It requires lot of guts, unlike you, who does noting and is nowhere in life. Atleast you are not successful in your life do encourage others who come up in life like ISHANT has done.

Lot here is stressing that he is only 19. To know the potential of a fast bowler that is age is not considered as a criteria. By seeing the match it is very clear that he doesnt have any potential or variety to become a fast bowler. Did any of you seen how wasim akaram bowled when he is 18. Just see those tapes and tell. Even srisanth looks better than this guy
