Ganguly has understood what he lost when he was carrying burden of Captaincy!!
by S Narain on Dec 20, 2007 03:20 PM

Gangulys performance fell during period he was Captain, his personal record would have been far better had he quit captaincy long ago...Captaincy was shunned by many stalwarts like Sachin, recently Dravid and their personal records were very good when they were not captaining and Ganguly was carrying burden of Indian captaincy at the cost of his own individual records...Why should individual player sacrifice their personal performance for sake of India...
It was ganguly who did it for India!!!!!
However he has understood it well that Captaincy is a bone of contention in India... now his perfomance is best this year!!!!Bravo ganguly who created a great team after match fixing fiasco which happened during the helm of dungarpur as BCCI Prez..
Gangu gave India the art of fighting spirit which was missing earlier..is back again with Kumble
Kumble is a very matured and excellant captain and most suited to lead India to victory in Australia and make history. He can face BCCI rascals as well as ganguly did,he is definitely not a spineless Captain....

Win in Aussie Land?
by karthick anand on Dec 13, 2007 04:11 PM

I dont think this team will win in Australia...this is by far the weakest pakistani team to ever tour India and Shoaib malik is just not ready for the job...when we go to australia all these runs won't matter...I hope Australia dont make the mistake of last time when they created flat tracks for our batsmen and Waugh attacked just a little too much...this time they will be ready...beating weak teams do not matter competing against Australia is a different proposition altogether

Ganguly played well in these series, but it is going to be a different ball-game in Australia. Here (this series in India)the ball was rising only to knee level, and Shoib was not fit enough. Ganguly is going to get a wake -up call from ball one. Lee & Co. will test him with three -quarters length.

I really hope that Ganguly gets a wake-up call from Lee & Co. because the last time he got a wake up call from them, he woke up and scored 144!!!!!

This great batting line up...Ganguly the great...rememeber, Brisbane and Melbourne in 2003, and obviously Laxman, the thorn in Aussie flesh...Sachin is only next to Bradman...and the WALL needs no new intro...
If captain Kumble with his colleagues deliver with the ball, India will beat the Aussies at their backyard.

Ganguly played very well in this test series and looks to be in very good touch but this is not enough he has to make amends in Australia by carrying this form to prove a point. In test cricket Ganguly was consistently inconsistent hope he has learned from his old mistakes.

Fans going ga ga over his last 2 outings are quite justified b'se his best form in test cricket began again after the 2 centuires he played at his debute he has never performed this good.

He will definately play 100 test which will give him more satisfaction on his cricketing career but he should consider himself to be more fortunate in this league b'se the players who have played 100 test for India were much better and class players than him.

Guys dont forget that Ganguly is the first person to score a hundred(146) against Australia in Australian conditions in the tour when he leaded the team. He is the person who saved that match and set examples. Dada can be a best player in any track.

Hmm seems u dont know, that Dravid and Sachin had scored hundreds in that match. And when the team is already in a strong position there is very less pressure. May hay while the sun shines.

Man how easily you guys criticie someone.... You do not feel the pinch Ganguly must have gone through when Greg chappel was around..... He has come back and how strong this comeback is.... See his mental strength and his abilities...... Do not write any crap like batting against weak bowling or batting against weaker teams...... do not give all these bullshits to criticise such a determined cricketer...... Just shut your mouths up and atleast try to appreciate the fantastiic cricket he is playing....... He has shown the most dramatic and succesful comeback of all time in the history of Cricket......

Not to forget that Ganguly played last test on dead wickets against a very ordinary Pakistam bowling attack. In Australia when Brett Lee and company will be bwoling on lively wickets with great speed and movement Ganguly's lack of footwork will be exposed. He was probably the best captain we ever had but now he should retire gracefully before selectors kick him out.

lakshman, yuvi, dhoni all these three have no technique and tentative in the biginning but the determination to bat. once they settle, they would thrash any bowler to the ropes. so is ganguly. once he gets going he is a treat to watch. except for dravid and to some extent sachin and well now may be to a little extent jaffer, no one else in the team has technique. then y just blame ganguly. at least he is getting runs for the team. if u dont want to appreciate, dont but at least respect him and be calm.
FORTUNATELY I AM TELUGU GUY AND NOT A BENGALI. uff

Guys Flat Bed or Dead Wickets. A Century is a Century and a Double Century is a Double Century. Why could not the others make runs. So dont call Gangulys play a crap. (mind it I am not a Ganguly Supporter) Let us applaud the performers.

Yes Rohtak

I dont know anything, i dont know that Ganguly averages less than 30 against McGrath, Walsh, Ambrose, Donald, Pollock, Akram and Waqar, the great bowlers of his time.

Yes i dont know anything about TEST CRICKET, i dont know that he couldnt score one hundred against them.

You are right great batsmen are those who score against England, can you pls tell me name of 1 great bowler of England in 90s....., against whom he made 2 hundreds. Can you enlighten me against the great bowlers of zimbabwe against whom he has 3 hundreds. Or can u give me the names of bowlers of NZ who came to India and gr8 ganguly scored 2 hundreds.

Pls enlighten me as i dont know anything.

I only know this pakistan team had great bowlers who bowled to him the most in Kolkatta and Bangalore and these pitches, my god deadly pitches for batsmen to play.

Either he fires or his back will be on fire.
by Abby M on Dec 11, 2007 01:57 PM  | Hide replies

If pitch is flat and is more suitable for batsmen, then ganguly will surely fire.

But if the pitch is bouncy or even has little bit of grass on it like Nagpur, Ganguly's back will be on fire.

After all near Groin Injury is somewhere near the lower back which was on fire in Nagpur seeing the grass on pitch.
